About Stacey from USA:
Been a fan since 1993. Favorite albums include Daydream, TEOM, and Music Box. I love a good discussion, but won't stand for hateful comments because we disagree. I am too old to deal with drama and so are you. Keep it real with me and we'll have some fun. Peace.

We can argue about Mariah's place on the list, etc. But Celine missing? That's a huge mistake from Rolling Stone. Shame on them.

Merry Christmas to you too, Edward. The whole Christmas album is great. I know we bag on good ole Tommy, but man I'm grateful he insisted MC do a Christmas album. I'm even more grateful MC listened.

It is a great song indeed. I loved it since the first time I listened to it. It is just one of those songs that's great lyrically and musically. On top of that, Mariah's yearning makes it perfect. The three original songs on that album are simply great. I know many here don't like "Jesus Born on This Day" but I do love it. Merry Christmas Stacey.

This song came on while running errands. So pretty. I have heard a fair share of AIWFCIY on the radio stations playing Christmas music. But it's been nice to hear other MC Christmas songs that are so so good (Baby Please Come Home, Santa Claus Is Comin To Town). I wish MYM would get more play. It's such a beautiful song.

AIWFCIY is everywhere right now. And I still love it. But "Miss you most at Christmas time" is just as wonderful. Just the opposite moodwise. I love this song so much and it belongs to Christmas too. Pure Mariah, pure magic. "Every other season comes a long and I'm all right, but then I miss you most at Christmas time" so true. The video is pretty too. Just beautiful Mariah, nothing more.

I need to get a life. I don't know why I've been posting so much this year, probably because I've been very emotional. Imagine that, a MC fan being emotional? Speaking of which, jaker20 that was a beautiful message. Many have said it here before, we are a dysfunctional family. We argue but I want nothing but the best for MC and all of you guys Eric Bill Stacey Andrew Enwar Robert Anthony and Terna. Happy holidays. Oh and don't forget MC comes on CBS tonight.

I'd love to hear a clip without the guy yelling, lol. But I am loving the clips shown so far. Gosh, I'd love a live version, even a shortened one of MYM. Definitely an overlooked but not forgotten gem from MC album.

Agreed. Just proves MC doesn't need to bare all. That's how a woman in her 50s should dress. She looks youthful without looking cheap. I just wish she dressed that way all the time.

There's nothing sarcastic about your post and you know it. You're backpedaling because you realized how ridiculous her attempt at monopolizing Christmas was. It's actually arrogant on her part to even think she could sequester Christmas in perpetuity. I hope she doesn't go for Hanukkah next year.

You lost me in the very first few lines of your over analytical paragraph. It is clear, You have not even listened to the original recording of that song "If Only You Knew". As it is with Mariah and songs she covers, she sticks to the original melodic line of the song. There was absolutely nothing "unnecessary and noncommittal" as you put it about her melismatic runs, there never is. (Mind You Mariah sings like a musician with the knowledge of how music works.) They were spot on and still in tune with the melodic structure of the song as she sang. You actually think Mariah at that time didn't do her homework to score that song, take note of its breathing map and just went on stage and freestyled as she went. Please. That is a well mapped, well planned, intentional performance, executed to near perfection with a sprinkle of magic. (Didn't Prince said something like this once?) And one can tell, it is solid and you can see the expression on her face, she knows she killed it.

Dear Terna. Welcome to the club. I remember years ago, when you could not write a message like this. We all miss that MC we used to know, and I guess you now understand the goats from the early 90's. I love the performance you refer to, and I wish she could still do that, but at this point I'm thinking that she has nothing more to prove, and I will always think of that out of this world voice she provided us with in the beginning of her career. No one can top that. Vision of Love is the proof of that. Of course I want her success in the future, but she has proven so much at this point that it's almost not human.

20 years ago I was 25. Y'all are babies, lol. Look, I totally agree with Edward. At 45 I feel I'm in the prime of my life with my career, motherhood, etc. I don't need to cover anything up. I know who I am, which is why I just flick any drama brought to me here aside. The diva act is so unnecessary. It's not who she is. It's what she hides behind. Why? I have no clue. Her talent is in a league of it's own. I don't care about the vocal trickery anymore. I just want her to own her talent when on that stage. Remember the BET Icon speech? It's Like That.

Why you mad? Your post shows you were definitely in grade school when this happened. Many artists keep everything he mentioned far into their careers. One could speculate that the more successful you get, the more confident too. Mariah is not 80, she's just 53. This performance wasn't only about the voice, but about the soul, the confidence, the humble demeanor, the grace. Age doesn't have anything to do with it. Back then the diva act hadn't been put into effect yet.

Haha, I'm glad someone got the "not yet" comment. I don't understand why some get so hot and bothered by others playing Christmas music or seeing Christmas decor pop up in the stores in September and October. It doesn't bother me at all. Frankly I like browsing the Christmas decor before it gets all picked over. I love Fall and Halloween and enjoy it to the fullest.

The Remixes (101,135)
by Stacey from USA
| |
|
|
The Remixes was a missed opportunity. With any remixed song, there was almost always a radio edit included. Those radio edits should have been included on the album so more songs could be included. The second CD should have been filled with her slower, R&B remixes and include lesser known ones like UTS (Drifting Remix). Lazy tracklisting indeed.

I agree it's negativity if someone says those things. What I don't agree with is calling out that person for saying such things. Starting a thread solely about the alleged tone of the board. Who cares? What someone else says or does doesn't change what I do. Carey on.

Saying her voice is shot and MC should retire is of course being negative. Saying she's fat and needs to loose weight is negative. I don't deny that.
The real problem, the point I'm trying to make is when someone takes that "negative" comment as a personal attack against their own opinions and seeks to tell that person off, prove them wrong, you're not a real fan, etc. I believe in the free exchange of ideas. Such a lost art.
