Terna I agree with you, I'd rather it be solo if it were to even ever happen. Not so much because of the haters, more so that I'd rather just hear Mimi. I personally think her duet versions of solo songs and even cut and paste raps added on are subpar, such as Against All Odds, IBLYLT, A No No, even When Christmas Comes and Whenever You Call, but especially Angels Cry. And don't even get (caps) me started on those MIAMTEC rejects from Angels Advocate. I've listened to them once maybe. So glad that project was shelved. I would have rather heard the Jump Smokers remix album over that genericness. So I vote no to a duets album. I can't be the only one. Rant over.

Awesome news from Germany. Hope you had a wonderful holiday too. I read that AIWFCIY just hit #2 again for the sixth time in the U.K., this year blocked by Ellie Goulding's cover of River. I'll give that song a listen now. Oh well, maybe next year it'll hit #1 to celebrate Mimi's 30 year anniversary.

Did y'all hear there's going to be a new video that's going to be realeased, directed by Joseph Khan? She said it's going to be her favorite video. What on earth? I wonder if it comes out on Friday. Make it happen Mimi.

Edward I agree with you. Except I do believe iTunes and digital sales are still a factor, hence why AIWFCIY is not #1 and ahead of Weeknd this week, since it's higher in both streaming and airplay, just not sales. But yes streaming is the major driver of the charts nowadays. This is already all more than I was expecting but I really really really hope it continues spiking next week to hit the top. Finally.

Free Guy Fantasy (91,558)
by enwar00 from usa
| |
|

Stop. Fantasy is featured in over 2 minutes of the trailer for a new Ryan Reynolds' movie Free Guy. Hmm I remember seeing a recent pic of them together with their families. Mimi seems to be everywhere right now, I'm loving it. Can you imagine if there's a brand new remix of the song coming with that movie? The next 25 year anniversary will be upon us soon. Come through Slipping Away.

AIWFCIY live at Tokyo Dome (91,504)

They released the performance in HD, looks and sounds so clear. It's so interesting to hear her sing this song with her Daydream voice. Which is exquisite. To me her tone sounds like Melt Away and Long Ago. I guess I know what album to listen to tomorrow. Let's see what else is coming during these 25 days of Christmas.

Hey Billy. Yes I noticed that too. So agile. Effortless. I assume that's why some argue this was her vocal peak or whatever. I love how playful she was with the kids and audience. She definitely seems herself here and to be having a good time. So glad we have these performances now, I like how natural they are especually in comparison to some of the DVDs.

Dang. These uploads of the St John the Divine concert get better and better by the day. I'm loving it. I love all MC's new stuff like Caution and MIAMTEC and have evolved alongside, but there is simply no denying how amazing yet effortless her singing was here. It's a nice reminder of the marvel and magic that was, and this has got to be a huge reason why we're still on here almost 30 years deep.

Jesus Born On This Day live video (91,326)

Well, the vault has opened further. Maybe people will enjoy the visual more than the audio. I'll be honest I haven't even listened to the new St John The Divine live audio, save for AIWFCIY once, but I enjoyed watching the visual. I hope they all get released one by one each week. Can you believe she released it despite the hair though?

You made me think of how it felt to hear those songs back in the day. The second verse of When I Saw You played in my mind. Such memories hearing that magical voice while having so much life and wonder ahead. You just inspired me to listen to it again. Typos and all.

Ugh. I barely remember that concert. I wish I had more memories of it. And there's no DVD or anything to help remember it with. But leave it to the magic of YouTube, I just found some audio clips. I do remember her performing Now That I Know which should have been a single. Overall though I guess maybe I just prefer her softer vocals from Daydream and Butterfly. I feel like those two are the closest to each other.

How funny, I just watched this performance within the last week. This may sound blasphemous but I'm not the biggest fan of her performances from the debut era. It's awesome to me how much she grew as a performer in just a couple years between this and MTV Unplugged. So much more control and for me it's more enjoyable. And it just seemed to get better for awhile. Does anyone know why she didn't tour the U.S. for the Daydream tour?

It's definitely going to be her 19th #1. Then it'll stay there for 19 weeks, getting the record back from Lil Nas X. And then AIWFCIY will become her 20th #1 this coming winter.
