About BIGGEST MC FAN from UNITED STATES:

I don't like the new Mariah (63,384)
by BIGGEST MC FAN from UNITED STATES
| |
|
|
Mariah doesn't seem very passionate about her music anymore because it doesn't show. She is a real diva these days (it's not an act), and she lives in her own glitter world. So yeah, I think I finally have come to terms with not liking the new Mariah anymore. I'll continue listening to her pre-1999 music and TEOM but I don't think I can stan her anymore. I hope she makes good music (for reference, I thought all her music released after Butterfly except TEOM and a few singles were very bad) in the future that can make me a fan again. Until then, bye guys.

I don't think she likes her singing career anymore, which might be why she hasn't really been trying since 2005.

How will her music be forgotten when she has some of the defining songs of the 00s and 10s? Don't be dumb, dahling.

Here we go again with putting other artists down because they're a thread to Mariah's records (which most people don't even know about frankly). The reason why Mariah flopped in the 2000s and couldn't get as many #1s like she did in the 1990s is because she made music that wasn't good and wasn't trending (huge mistake). Mariah also had the "I don't want to sing other people's songs" mentality and her ideas starting running out which is why we got Rainbow, Glitter, and Charbracelet. Imagine if she was working with Timbaland, Pharrell, etc. She could have gotten like 8 more #1s in the early 2000s. Rihanna, however, works with top notch producers and songwriters that know how to make currently trending hit songs. She follows trends and is always up to date. She's only 28 and her fame is at it's highest point right now. She is not going anywhere for at least 10 more years and you can expect her to at least get 10 more #1s.

The eternally 12 thing is disturbing quite frankly. Like no, you're 46 and your children will soon be 12. You are not 12, Mimi. I mean we're all children at heart but I don't get why she keeps repeating this stuff in every interview. It's kind of cringeworthy. I'm actually starting to question if she's being serious when she says that.

Mariah's brand/image (62,766)
by BIGGEST MC FAN from UNITED STATES
| |
|
|
One of the things that I don't like about Mariah is her tacky brand. Up until the Rainbow era, her style and image was flawless. She dressed great in public, her photoshoots were elegant, and music videos were elegant, etc. Then starting from the Rainbow era, she started cheapening her brand. That Rainbow album cover art is tragic and so cheap, the whole glitter and charmbraclet eras looked incredibly cheap as well. The music videos and how she dressed started to become tacky. Look at this for example. Tragic. The Emancipation era had quality though but everything after that is just incredibly tacky for someone like Mariah frikken Carey. Like look at this. And she did that duet with Bieber. So when people say stuff like "Mariah shouldn't be dressing like that" they're not saying that she shouldn't dress in a sexy way. They're saying she shouldn't dress like she's on the same budget as Azealia Banks. She should dress like she's worth half a billion dollars.

Lol calm down with the conspiracy theories. Mariah is not being controlled. She's a grown ass woman and I'm pretty sure she would not let anyone control her after Tommy Motorola [sic]. You guys sound insane. Is she a bit delusional? Well yes, since she released Infinity. But she isn't doing things that she doesn't want to be doing.

Why tear down other artists? (62,613)
by BIGGEST MC FAN from UNITED STATES
| |
|
|
Every time someone gets a #1 or an award there are some members here who say stuff like "Mariah is way better and more deserving". That is really petty and shows how desperate and threatened you are. Let these artists live. Mariah hasn't been putting in the work to be at the top since The Emancipation Of Mimi era and frankly has cheapened her reputation and image by being shady, going on American Idol, doing duets with the likes of Justin Bieber. Which would explain why she isn't being honored like Whitney, Celine, Beyonce, etc. even though we as fans know she deserves it.

Mariah was asked to say three good things about Nicki and if she knows JLo and if she thinks she's a cool person. She wasn't asked if she likes them. She should have answered those questions without any shade and immaturity and she wouldn't have to be asked about it every time. It was really cringeworthy to see that she wouldn't let go of this feud years later while JLo and Nicki have moved on with their lives and careers. Mariah isn't known for being a good singer with good music anymore, she's known for her AIWFCIY 2014 performance and her diva/shady personality.

A real fan can have a negative opinion of Mariah (62,415)
by BIGGEST MC FAN from UNITED STATES
| |
|
|
Let's not turn this into a place where only good things can be said about Mariah. I love Mariah with all of my heart. Her music saved me when I was in the darkest places in my life. For people to say that I'm not a real fan because I don't agree with how she did certain things is insulting. I came here to discuss Mariah, not to sing her endless praise. I will praise her when it feels right and I will criticize her when I feel she could have done things better. Some of you guys need to stop crying "you're not a real fan". Did I criticize Mariah a lot on this site? Yes. But it was because some fans wouldn't even acknowledge what I was saying and were shutting me down. My criticism doesn't come from a place of bad intentions. Please stop being obnoxious fans that jump at people's throats when Mimi isn't praised to death.

The early-mid 90s Mariah wasn't confident and even depressed and repressed in her marriage with Tommy Motolla. I liked the Butterfly and Rainbow era Mimi the best. I think she's been joking with this diva attitude for so long that she actually became a real diva.

She hasn't addressed it though. She dodged it and added more fuel to the fire. Which is why her interviews will always be about these feuds and shade until she choses to rise above and put an end to it. JLo and Nicki have already put this behind them, which is why they aren't/won't be asked about Mariah years later in all of their interviews.

Diva act and shade is getting old (62,335)
by BIGGEST MC FAN from UNITED STATES
| |

It's getting out of hand and the GP hates her because of it. I really wish she would stop acting like that 24/7. It's off-putting even as a fan to see her act this way too much. Once in a while is okay but she's really run with it. All her interview questions are about Nicki, JLo, Eminem, idk her. all the news about her is her diva actions. It really makes me sad as a fan.

It's funny how you guys are calling me a troll for stating some negative opinions. Does a fan have to agree with everything an artist does? One would argue that a more passionate fan is the one that sees and accepts the negative things about the artist they're a fan of.

Darren, the only songs people remember from Mariah are Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, Hero, Without You, All I Want For Christmas Is You, and We Belong Together. Rihanna has Diamonds, We Found Love, Don't Stop The Music, Umbrella, Unfaithful, Love The Way You Lie, Take A Bow, Only Girl, S&M, Rude Boy, etc. And her catalog is growing because she's only 28. So don't try to diminish her legacy. Rihanna is one of the defining artists of the 2000s and 2010s and has made her mark on music and is continuing doing so.
