This is why I literally burst into tears, when she announced she was about to sing it on the first night of her Caution Tour at the London Royal Albert Hall. No one in the hall that night had any idea she was going to sing this, and it was everything! Not a dry eye in sight and everyone was astounded by the vocals. Her live performance with Luther at RAH back then, is and will remain as one of the best duet performances in history IMO.

I think it has to do with being on her period. Whitney said in the Oprah interview that a female's vocal range/ability changes when you're on the menstrual cycle, and that it affects her singing too. She also went on to mention about female opera singers and how they try not to perform around their cycle time. Hence why Oprah joked that Luther Vandross doesn't have an issue obviously hitting the high notes.

F1 Baku concert (76,634) by AgentM from UK

Loving Mariah singing "Thanks for Nothing" from the E=MC2 album at the F1 Baku concert. So rarely sung and she sounds so good and clear. Not sure about the F1 racing body suit, but it's quite cute and apt to the theme.
