Mariah Carey deserves justice for "Slipping Away" (93,324)
by Dove from United States
| |
|

I love this idea.
Also would love a separate two disc CD/DVD combo with the Tokyo Dome concert. They could add whatever single they're pushing on that set too. I'm sure lambs would buy both the Tokyo Dome combo plus Daydream Deluxe Anniversary Edition.

I was born in 1983 and I remember watching Vision of Love music video on MTV and all of her videos after. My aunt always had it on that channel though.

That's the most 1990's music video of all time. All it needs is shirtless old man in black and white for no reason.

Caution unplugged (93,181)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
Honestly, I doubt this would ever happen but I'm going to put it out there anyway. I would love if she made an unplugged album with just the songs on Caution. Filmed somewhere tropical. With Paul McCartney's band. Maybe went one too far with Paul McCartney's band. I'm sure he would lend them to her for a few nights. They're both music royalty. It would make an R&B album a little more rock. "I'm not sure how that would sound," you say? I'll tell you: it would sound amazing.
I was just listening to Caution again and instead of Paul McCartney's band maybe Amy Winehouse's band. Especially on Giving Me Life.

Dress (93,180)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I'd like to see her in my favorite dress ever: the Christine dress from Reformation. Black is fine but I would also love it in nude and covered in crystal beads and with crystal beads on her stockings here and there. And shoes without the platform in the front. I hate how that looks. It looks clunky and not graceful at all.
That dress would look great on her because it would show off her small waist and super long legs but at the same time it's not skin tight and not too low cut. The bow ties at the shoulders add a fun feminine touch. I also like how it flares at the hips slightly. Best dress ever.
Another dream outfit is the red dress with the one diagonal strap Marilyn Monroe wears in How To Marry a Millionaire. I also love the orange one from Gentleman Prefer Blondes but she already wore that one in concert. I'd be happy with a comeback for that one.
I also wanted to add that I agree, her American Idol styling was on point. Hair and outfits.

Also love the sound of this song for Mariah. I wonder if she could sample the backing track and write her own lyrics over it?

90s sound (93,178)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
Mariah already did the 90's sound and she did it better than anyone. I would love for her to go all the way back to the 70's and 80's and do a disco album.

I would like to see her wear more a-line skirts and dresses that flare slightly at the hips.
About the clown make-up: you have to wear a ton of make-up when you're on stage because the bright lights wash you out. She doesn't wear it like that for televised interviews or music videos. If she does I haven't noticed.

Re: #Beautiful should have been the 19th (93,043) (93,046)
by Dove from United States

I think the video had a part in it not doing as well as it should have. I remember I posted it (the video) on Facebook when it came out and people were focusing more on how it looked like she was "trying too hard" to stay young and sexy over how good the song was. Then she had super not-good televised performances that era. Like the one where she's wearing the gorgeous gown with mirrors behind her and it's super obvious she's miming #Beautiful with the Jeezy remix intro. Then the one with the ill fitting dress on top of a piano where she's singing You're Mine (Eternal). The songs are perfect, performances and videos not as flawless.
I just watched this again and it's actually not as terrible as I remember it. The dress is actually not as ill-fitting as I remember it either. I think it would have worked better if it was just her singing live with the piano instead of them pretending over the pre-recorded backing track. Like Billie Eilish and her brother at the Grammys vibe.

Not judging (93,003)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I was not judging and I hope she is better now. We all go through stuff. I even admitted I gained a bunch of weight after my divorce from overindulging in fried food and sugar. That seemed like a safer way to soothe myself but was also an unhealthy way to cope. No matter what I'm on her side and nothing is going to make me stop supporting her. I just want her to be healthy because even though I don't know her I care about her.

I'm sorry about your dad this_is_qhm. Sometimes I forget about how bad it was because I try not to think about it now, but yeah, it was embarrassing too on top of scary and stressful.

You're right. She's been acting funny for a while. I just sometimes ignored it hoping it was not as bad as it seemed.
For the record: I don't judge people who drink. I know some people can have a few drinks and it's a fun and relaxing time. I have friends who can do it. It's just when I was little I saw people going from super serious, to fun, to abusive. I read books about alcoholism in middle school and they said some people become alcoholics and others don't and you don't know which one you're going to be. With my family history I was always super terrified. My grandpa was told he was going to die if he didn't stop drinking and he chose to keep drinking. My aunt tried to quit every day for a while but would lose the fight by night time. My dad only stopped because he had an accident and almost died. He was in the hospital for months and vowed to never drink again and to be a better father and husband. He hasn't had a drink since. Honestly, I consider it a miracle and an answered prayer because I never thought I would see him sober. I thought he would die like my grandpa did.
This is my scary take on alcohol. When I grew up I saw that some people could do it without going too far, so if you're one of those people, more power to you. I don't think Mariah is one of those people. I think she has crossed the line and needs the prayers of all of us who pray.

Alcohol (92,951)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I wish Mariah would stop drinking. I hate saying this but it seems like she's always drinking. I come from a long line of alcoholics and alcohol scares me so I don't personally drink because I've always been afraid of falling into that hole. I didn't see my dad sober until he quit drinking when I was an adult. I wish he would have quit when I was little because he's a great person but we were all scared of him when we were kids. My aunt is also an alcoholic and it started with just social drinking and partying when she was young. I told her I was concerned about her drinking and she went off on me and it was ugly. She kind of reminds me of Mariah so in my mind I imagine she would act the same way if someone told her they were concerned about her drinking. My grandpa died super young and I never in my life saw him sober. When I see MC with a glass of champagne in her hand all the time and tipsy it makes me so sad. I'm just going to pray about it. I know this post is super weird but I felt like I had to say something, even here.
There's a YouTuber I follow who is very obviously anorexic and nobody ever says anything because she's a Dr. She has half a million followers and everyone just ignores it.
I mean, I know we don't know these people in real life but we follow up with their lives and what they're doing every day so we should care, right?

New album (92,950)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
If that super young Finneas can produce a whole album from his bedroom why can't Mariah do one on her own? IMO her musical ear and talent is above the level of anyone she's ever worked with. I feel like on a lot of songs her voice, melodies, harmonies, and lyrics are top notch but the songs are brought down by the cheap and generic quality of the instrumental. Or whatever it's called, since they're not exactly instruments. The backing track? I feel like she could maybe do better on her own.

Vegas (92,915)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
The hot, dry climate in Vegas is really hard on a voice though. How much longer is she contractually obligated to be there? I still would love a recent concert DVD but she needs to go somewhere with better climate for singers, like Jamaica or the Philippines. My favorite VOL performance is the 2015 Jamaican one. She's obviously very relaxed from the second-hand marijuana smoke too.

Valentine's Day 2020 (92,900)
by Dove from United States

I love the pink glittery dress the most and need a Mariah Barbie in it ASAP. With a gold mic and gold glitter earpiece accessories. It would have been better if she wore it for a slow song where she just stands in front of the mic though. Knee length would have been better for moving around.

This wasn't that long ago and it sounds good to me. I'm sure regular people who don't study her performances as closely as fans can't even tell she's not singing on some parts. I think she knows what's best for her own life.
