Mariah at Rock in Rio (107,386)
by Pedro from Brazil
| |
|
|
It was an awesome concert, and they say it was her biggest crowd ever. She looked amazing, and her vocals were on point. My only gripe was that it felt short, but I loved how she switched up the setlist a bit and still sang all our favorite songs. In São Paulo, after the show ended and the lights went out, she came back a few minutes later and sang IWKWLI barefoot, catching everyone off guard - even her crew. Some fans had already left and couldn't get back in. I wonder if she planned it or just changed her mind last minute.

Mariah at Rock in Rio (107,383)

If you're wondering how to watch Mariah at Rock in Rio this Sunday, you can stream it live for free on Globoplay. Just sign up with your Facebook or Google e-mail to create an account. Most of the stuff on there is paid, but the Rock in Rio stream is totally free. I'm really hoping Mariah switches up her setlist, interacts more with the crowd, and doesn't stay so stiff on stage. Cyndi Lauper and Katy Perry killed it last night. Just a heads up, Mariah's concert starts at 10:45 PM Brazil time.

Insider account (105,042)
by Pedro from Brazil

I think MC decided to go into a more upbeat sound this time because "Obsessed" has recently become her most streamed song daily on Spotify, sometimes only behind WBT by a few streams.

This is great information. Caution was kind of bland and not upbeat to me. I wonder if she is remaking Honey or using it as a sample. Maybe Mary J. Blige's Still Believe in Love inspired MC. It has a hot sample by 70's R&B group Mtume. I could see MC taking the original samples and having a hot young producer of today like Bizness Boi (Chris Brown's Press Me) work his magic. I am really excited that she is trying to do something different for MC16. Mimi will be back on top in 2024.

New projects (105,022)
by Pedro from Brazil
| |
|
|
According to a Twitter account that is supposedly an insider, Mariah's lead single will arrive between mid-February and May, the album musical style will be similar to E=MC2 and will include recordings from the studio sessions. The music video has been already filmed. Well, I don't know about the overall accuracy of this account, but every since I've been following it they were right about everything they leaked. They knew about Ariana's imminent comeback, video, album title and imagery long before it was released as well as other artists, so I hope they'll be right about MC too.

Rockin' Around (Spotify position) (104,389)
by Pedro from Brazil
| |
|
|
AIWFCIY was demoted on several Christmas playlists on Spotify, where it used to be in the top positions (some fans noticed that some playlists even removed the song). Boycott? RATCT was elevated on Spotify playlists, perhaps with help from the record label, which is why it's getting more plays than AIWFCIY. It's a question of position in the playlist. The higher it is, the more it will be played.

To be honest, I don't even know how RATCT is even competing with AIWFCIY. The latter is way more festive, the former would be like something to play on Christmas Eve. Maybe Mariah and Brenda agree to defrost together next Christmas seaon.

"All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" are closely competing for #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this tracking week, according to Talk of the Charts. American fans should stream harder this year or else we'll lose that #1.

My Prayer - The Platters (103,310)
by Pedro from Brazil
| |
|
|
Some fans are speculating that Mariah's "My Prayer" is actually a cover of a song of the same name by the group "The Platters", because in the promotional video, Mariah's track lasts 2:50, which is similar to this one. What do you think, guys?

We did it Lambs. MC is number #1 for another week. Is it just me? I heard and saw AIWFCIY everywhere this year from parties to department stores to school programs. Maybe people are really liking MC's it's time videos. This year's video was her best one yet.

According to Talk of the Charts, Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" is challenging "All I Want For Christmas Is You" for the #1 spot on next week's Billboard Hot 100 based off of early projections. Brenda's lead over Mariah on Spotify is up from ~25% last week to over 30% in the first three days of this tracking week. Paired with the incoming collapse of holiday radio, Mariah is expected to lose more points via radio, making this week's race close.

"Easy On Me" by Adele and "All I Want For Christmas Is You" are expected to take the top 2 on next week's Hot 100, with every other song far behind them. They are predicted to be within 5% of points of each other, with "Easy On Me" as the favorite, according to Talk of the charts. Will AIWFCIY dethrone Adele's domination?

Taylor Swift Willow (96,967)
by Pedro from Brazil
| |
|
|
Taylor is clearly trying to dethrone AIWFCIY on the Hot 100. She has already released 3 versions of the single "Willow", which is currently #1 on Spotify, and as of yesterday, it was only few points behind AIWFCIY on those early prediction sites. Her fans have been streaming the song day and night to secure her another #1. American Lambs need to stream some more if they want to see AIWFCIY on top next week.

Re: The Rarities (95,886) (95,892)

I'm listening to the album right now. The highlights of the album are "Can you hear me", "One Night" and "Mesmerized". The first track, "Here we go around again", is good too, it's great fun, it has great vocals. I can't understand why "Can you hear me" was not included on Emotions, I'm still in awe. I don't think the Firecracker version of "Loverboy" is better, I thought it was a bit of a mess, but there we go, just my opinion. "Mesmerized" has that retro vibe she was into during the elusive chanteuse era. It will certainly be a fan favorite along with "One Night". I'm impressed.
