I have to agree with you on this. I won't say dementia though, maybe just memory loss due to her aging but she really seems to be slower and duller than before when she talks or moves. For example during the Las Culturistas podcast, her answers to every question seemed to be very short and simple compared to, let's say, old Oprah or Rosie interviews, where she was so talkative and vibrant. Even two or three years ago she was not like this. Another example is during the Drew Barrymore show she even forgot the word "snowglobe", which is among her latest merchandise goods. It seems to me that more often than before, she gets lost in words. This is extremely obvious in her recent interviews. Maybe that why she keeps looking at the prompters during the concerts. I can only wish Mariah healthy and happy now.

I agree with the people that feels she seems stiff, and I'm too surprised she uses prerecorded vocals so much, I thought her voice was in god condition, and the notes she actually sings live sounds good. It seems like she is affraid to go in higher register live these days. The constant looking at the monitors I really don't know why, she didn't do this until two years ago. As I have said before, I think she used Ozempic a year ago, and I came with a controversial theory that that medicine made her depressed, as is a common side effect to Ozempic. What Ozempic also can do, is causing temporarily dementia, I know it's far fetched, but maybe Mariah has a hard time remembering her own lyrics. Or it's just that her singing is so cut and paste these days it is to remember where she lip synchs and not.

The mike was definitely on. We have to give her credit for this performance. If you look closely, paying attention to her mouth, neck and demeanor, you can tell when she's lipping. To be honest, judging by recent performances, I thought it would be more of the same, but I'm glad to have been proven wrong. I'm a happy for her.

Mariah's mom and sister died on the same day (107,286)

Now I understand why Mariah seemed to be so stiff and sometimes too emotional during certain parts of her recent live shows. Maybe she was thinking about Patricia all the time when performing Make It Happen. All my prayers are with Mariah and her family. Bless.

You may be on to something. Sony did not want any R&B hip hop infused songs from Rainbow as singles. Remember the Can't Take That Away From Me/Crybaby battle with Sony. Maybe How Much was going to be the original second single after Heartbreaker and Sony said no and released Thank God I Found You instead.

Article: Mariah surprises with her first career hit on one chart (106,618)
by lighty from China
| |
|
|
According to Wikipedia: As a result of the increase in the popularity of dance and electronic music, Billboard introduced the Dance/Electronic Songs chart in January 2013 to rank the most popular dance and electronic songs according to airplay audience impressions, digital downloads, streaming and club play and publishes it on a weekly basis. They are tracked by Nielsen SoundScan, Nielsen BDS, BDS from streaming services including Spotify and Xbox Music, and from a United States-wide select panel of 140 DJs; it uses the same methodology as is used for the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. It is separate to the Dance Club Songs and Dance/Electronic Digital Songs charts, the former of which is ranked by most popular club play and the latter by the most sales. Songs will be eligible to chart on the Dance/Electronic Songs chart based on their "core sound and tempo", however dance remixes of songs which were originally pop, R&B, rap or a different genre are not eligible for inclusion, regardless of whether it appears on either the Dance Club Songs or Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts.

What's the difference between the charts "Hot Dance/Electronic song" (Portrait Hopeful Child, as the only charter) and "Club Dance Songs" (Mariah has 17 #1, Triumphant being the most resent)? Thanks for anyone that can break it down for me.

I am sitting here trying to figure out what significant event in MC's career during last five years caused a huge increase to 90.5 million in Spotify sales. Besides AIWFCIY, the only event that I can think of is MC30. Do you think that event is the reason?

I love Mariah but no one has taught me how to download. Back in the day when she put something out I would just go to the record store and buy it and so forth I was was the first one there to get it. I wish it was still that way or else I would have bought it and more than one copy to help her since I love her. Now the music business wants people to download and not everyone including me knows how to download music. I would love to learn. I will stream it.

Did you all see they will be revealing the Billboard Woman of the Year award and gave 3 hints? • She has made Billboard charts history. • She has sold out stadiums on tour. • She has a popular nickname. Before I even saw the hints I was like oh well it's gonna be Taylor again, plus she has been selling out stadiums. But as far as I know she doesn't really have a popular nickname. The first and third applies to Mariah. Did she have sold out stadium tours? Other than Mariah it could maybe be Beyoncé.

Oh, you're calling me an SJW, but am I? If someone shout to you face something like "**** USA", what would you say? I've been a frequent visitor to MCArchives since the early 00s and I read the comments on this messageboard every now and then but I just rarely talk, because my English is not very good. I enjoy so much reading you guys' comments here, even Andrew's, because sometimes I find his opinions, as direct as they are, honest and truthful. But not this time. This time, he's just being mean, as he always is.
This should be my last time posting here, and I still hope you guys all safe and sound, including Andrew. One of my friends' sister, who's a nurse, went to one of the hospitals in the most infectious province to support, and she got infected too (recovering now, God bless). So please stay at home, wash hands, and wear masks.

I used the term "appear" because, first of all, China didn't intentionally create that virus and then whether it's caused by China or not is still hung in doubt. You may wanna watch this video where this Italian doctor stating that symptoms of the coronavirus were reported back in December or as early as November in Italy where in China the first report was in late December. I'm not trying to find an excuse, and yes, our local government tried to hide the fact (but failed at last) and it caused thousands of deaths in China, and the whole nation is blaming them, too. I just hope you could read more information before making a final conclusion. And if you still stick to your opinion, then fine. I never said anything nasty to you so I'm really disappointed that you need to directly say something like "**** you" to me. If that's a common western manner, I get it.

The fact that the virus first appeared in China is indeed, a fact. I never denied that. "But one thing is for sure: we should ban all flights from that country forever. And not trade one single grain of rice with them. Forever." is what I consider the part that's racist. If the first infected patient is a black person, and you say something like "we should ban all flights from taking black passengers", you know what you'll be facing with.

I never thought (93,342)
by lighty from China

That some of the most racist comments I'd ever read would show up here, on a messageboard of my favorite artist. I could just assume that most of you have never been to China, even once. You might think that Chinese culture allow people to kill wild animals and eat them, but all I can say is that before this virus became a thing, most Chinese people don't even know bats could be eaten. As of now, 3267 Chinese people died from this virus and we suffered much more than you could ever imagine. It really breaks my heart to see someone on this board would loudly shout out something like "[censored] China". But all I can say to everyone on this board is, please do stay at home as much as possible, I hope you all safe and sound. And to some certain people, the more you curse us, the more you're blessing us, but still, I wish you well.

I think there's no doubt Mariah could create another great ballad like WBT. It's just that a "hit" doesn't depend solely on songwriting. A great video, solid marketing with radio/tv/streaming, etc., good promotion including collaboration with platforms (twitter/tiktok/youtube) are all factors in making a hit.

Mariah looks gorgeous at GG. The new team is absolutely doing a very good job. But I noticed on thing they seem to have missed is that since Stella was fired, Mariah's official website also stopped updating. The latest news was posted on November 24, which was more than one month ago. Though maybe very few people are still visiting the site, it's still an important official platform of hers. Somebody tell Mariah's new team to do something about this.

Management problem (41,863)
by lighty from China

I find it interesting that Mariah's best era in the 2000s is when she was managed by Benny Medina (October 2003 - September 2008), which is the TEOM plus early E=MC2 era. After she fired Benny, her career started to wreck again. She really needs someone as powerful as Benny, not just some friends of hers, to bring her back to the top again.
