Do we know for sure yet that there are no unreleased tracks? Around 20 tracks not revealed yet but yes they'll all be remixes - I'm hoping for one unreleased song to sneak in though it doesn't look like there are any. She mentioned somewhere that When I Feel It will be included but yes that's been around forever.

To be honest, it's not really worth it. There's nothing new in this release. I was hoping she'd at least include some leftover tracks from that era. I just don't see the point in celebrating 20 years of such an iconic album without offering anything new. I'm not trying to be a negative Nancy, it's just my humble opinion.

Shezz, I thought that AI didn't have it right. I looked in my Mariah book and I have written down exactly what you said. Also, I am just wondering if we will get a demo version of WBT without the "come back" background vocals and the FLAB remix by DJ Tracy. Can someone post the link to her TEOM announcement countdown?

Bobby, the ultra platinum edition has 20 already which includes 14 original plus 3 platinum edition plus [Sprung] and [Secret Love] plus [WBT] remix. If you add When I feel [It] that's 21. Let's hope there's something AI doesn't know and there are more.

AIWFC lawsuit + Kelly Clarkson (108,509)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
Funny story about how strangely, Kelly Clarkson the og lamb could be indirectly involved in starting the Vince Vance lawsuit. She covered the song (his version) in late 2020 then performed it at Rockerfeller Center 2021. Billboard did a small piece on it saying "Kelly Clarkson covers AIWFC but no, it's not the Mariah version". She told Billboard that it was her favourite Christmas song growing up. Not many people had talked about it before - then 6 months later in 2022, Vince Vance suddenly reappears after ages and files the lawsuit. Taking this conspiracy theory even further (for laughs) Kelly's cover comes out right around the time the Oh Santa remix not featuring her was released. Of course she has never stopped singing Mariah's praises so the second part is most definitely not linked. I think about it often since I heard her version years ago (i quite like it) just felt like sharing it with y'all today.

New thing coming (108,508)
by Shezz from Pk

It's just what the infamous internet "nostradamous insider" said. Though I don't believe much what they say now after Mariah has refused to put anything out in the last few years, this news could very well be true given the current situation. I do think Anderson Paak is not just hanging out with her, they are working together as well.

And with Anderson Paak apparently overseeing the whole production, it could be a slick fun record. This year she will do a couple of collaborations again and then focus on pushing AIWFC again this at Christmas to regain her crown. If only she'd release Rareties 2 this year all would be well.

I'm quite confused with this board right now. Forget about the 90s, I miss Caution Mariah. So I get the lambs on this board who don't like what they see now. But I wish they could see that the other lambs who defend current Mariah are showing their love for her just as you all are showing your love for her by demanding excellence from her.
I don't think they are all "yass queens", they are just more accepting. And the ones expecting more are not "haters". She is not going to have a sit down and declare a "state of emergency" on her voice and cry about it on tv. You know her better than that. Let her go out on her own terms. Celebrate her little wins like the record she'll hopefully reclaim this Christmas with AIWFC that'll make every lamb proud. I think both sides of the lambily need to be easier on each other in this crazy world we live in today already suffocating with hate for people not like themselves.

Lol. We have one already - Eric. Who knew that MC's first televised appearance of 2025 could cause so many different perspectives about the state of her career. MC should have prepared us more about what she dealt with during the recording of Caution during her Genius interview. That was the perfect interview for her to come clean about everything that we definitely know now. Caution wasn't rushed. MC just couldn't do vocally with Caution what she was used to doing in the studio. Ten songs was all she could do in the studio because vocally she just couldn't do more. That is just my perspective this week after coming to the conclusion why there is no new album seven years later.

Mariah the wonderful human (108,371)
by Shezz from Pk

I agree. Was it the best speech? No. She is clearly going through some problems and if she would rather have a little bit of fun and be a little ditsy rather than give an inspirational speech, so be it. Maybe she doesn't have it in her at this point to do so. I think her work is far more powerful to be brought down by a speech. I don't think that people who were disappointed by her speech should not comment and move on. Clearly they still love her and want her to shine. What is the point of a messageboard if you can't read a mix of opinions? I personally feel the world tears her down enough, but I understand when others want more. I'm not being a yass queen but I don't think her speech was catastrophic.
Health and happiness to MC and the board. Chin up Bobby, she may not give us another album but we'll get something from her this year.

by Boy from The Netherlands

There are so many bitter queens on this board. Was I saddened and heartbroken to see my lifelong icon on stage, clearly struggling with mobility issues and moving stiffly? Yes. But people forget that, at the end of the day, she is not just a public figure or a manufactured pop star who exists to obey a delusional, overly demanding fanbase.
Give her some slack and show some empathy. She will never be her former self, just as we will never be the same people we were ten years ago. She had her glory days, the golden era of pop. Now, I'm just glad she's alive, somewhat enjoying the rest of her life with her kids.
It's really unhealthy to claim to support someone while being so eager to tear them down. Does it hurt me to see her in this state? Yes. But I understand that she's human too, with a very complicated past, and she has lived a life that only a handful of people in the world could ever relate to.
If you don't approve of her anymore, then move on. But don't continue bullying a woman, a mother, in her 50s. Accept her as she is or let her be. Don't project your own version of her onto the world. Just move on.

I can't believe we've reached the day when we're ok if Mariah lip syncs as long as long she looks happy to be there. I personally don't mind even if she sits on a chaise lounge with a 90s boom box and just presses play and sips tea as long as she releases MC 16 this year.

Agreed Randy. If you look at the Brazil concert videos, she was definitely a whole lot more invested and present than the Vegas residency ones. If she doesn't have more music for now she can focus on her biopic (with the right team). Let's hope she works on getting herself back together now with this break.

The clothing and perfuming offerings are bad ideas RA. The market is saturated. But you are definitely onto something with the writing and producing for other artists as an artist. Mariah can write circles around Kandi Burruss, Montell Jordan and Neyo. Look what they've done for others. And she could definitely write as well as those I consider close to her league Lauryn Hill, R Kelly, Babyface and Kanye. Again, look at what they've done for others. She could've written for Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Harry Styles or any other new artists that sell a lot of records and she could do a live festival once a year.

Agreed. The bottom line is that she's still getting booked. So organizers of these shows don't really see her performances as critically as we do. They only care that she can still fill up theaters and that's fine for them. And in places like China and Brazil she can still fill stadiums. It is what it is basically. I'm still hopeful for some music. We got two collaborative remixes last year as well as two amazing house remixes in a pretty much dead year.

I just don't see the fire. Mariah has been like this off and on since Stella. It would scare me more if she moved around the stage, had banter and wasn't singing along to her own voice in the background. I 100% get she doesn't want to be there but that's common knowledge and people will still go see her because she's an icon. My concern is it does reek of financial trouble and not necessarily, I love to perform so much I don't know when to bow out gracefully. Mariah is fine. She is gigging to make sure she can keep Kristopher Buckle, Mary Ann Tatum, Trey Lorenz, Daniel Moore, the umbrella holder, the rental in LA, the G5, the upkeep on the NYC pad and the house in the Bahamas taken care of. I don't see Whitney Houston's decline. I see more of a Joan Crawford, Judy Garland thing here. "I'm Mariah, dahling. I can't be broke."

Mariah doesn't need no man (108,184)
by Shezz from Pk

Agreed Randy - vocal ability, financial stresses and aging (remember all neurological disorders only worsen with age) are her main problems but being with Tanaka in whatever capacity he was had helped keep her spark alive. Big or small, his departure is a part of the puzzle I think along with her other big problems. It will be interesting to see whenever MC16 does come out, how this period of her life is reflected in it.

by Randy from USA

I don't think she was ever in love with Tommy. I think she was in love with Luis and she was in love with Nick. The rest are companionships. Her issue right now is what her issue has been since birth. Insecurity. It is hard being in the world eye when you are considered one of the best vocalists who have ever lived and are having problems with your voice. It is hard when you come out and meet your idols Aretha, Patti, Olivia Newton John and Diana. Now you are their age and the girls that are popular are on the charts and winning awards are Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo. MC hates touring but needs the money to keep the umbrella holder and her three homes. Tanaka may have been a comfort but he's not the reason she's in pieces. MCs real problem is that she is under pressure about vocal ability, aging and finances.

Frustrated lamb (108,168)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
There had been a steady decline in her stage presence and her effort and enthusiasm in the last 10 years but I can't be the only one who noticed the sudden steep dip right after Tanaka left. Whatever their relationship was, she seemed happy and had that spark in her eyes every time he'd be on the stage with her. He kept her excited and happy in life and on the stage and he was the one if I remember correctly who directed the With You AMAs performance. He was her partner in life and on the stage and he made her happy. It was the same spark she had in her early years with Nick. Mariah I think is the type who needs stability and a partner to be excited about other things in her life and there's nothing wrong with it. It's one thing to get over such a relationship in your 20s and a whole other in your 50s. I hope she finds her happiness and her way again.

That's how her career is right now: like she doesn't know what's going on or she doesn't care. When she performed With You a couple of years ago, it was at least a production. She times the chorus of the songs with the movement of the feathers, she walks where the dancer are in focus, etc etc. It was not dance choreo, but there was some production there and she's involved.
Now she just walks out and let the dancers do their thing. To me that's a sign that she's not involved anymore. The production and dancers are do their thing and she's given some cues while she's maybe watching TV somewhere or baking.
The lack of effort is reflection of her career right now. No effort, no releases. And from what we've seen, even walking is a huge effort for her. So maybe not even a phone call to collaborators because that's time consuming for her to dial the phone. Just none.

Supposedly (according to internet insiders) after the Vegas residency she and her team are solely going to focus on her music projects and biopic for the rest of the year with no more tours (hopefully). The most recent clips from the 2025 shows are cringeworthy. In one clip, she was "singing" ILT and there was literally no expression on her face, no energy or anything. In another clip she's singing Fantasy and looks lost as though she's been told to follow the dancer around the stage. She's looking around like she has no idea what's going on in that moment. The comments on the videos were in shambles. MC can only keep this up for so long until mainstream media starts asking questions and she's forced to address it or stop performing until she gets herself together. Does no one on her team ever watch her performances back and see that something is wrong? This era is so frustrating as a lamb.

If she can produce vocals good enough to sing with Barbra and Ariana on the same song, then that puts to bed rumours that her vocals are why she’s not recording an album. I think Mariah would not sign off on such a collaboration unless her voice could pull it off.

I too tend to avoid the live videos. I have accepted that it is something she is going to do - I am sure the experience overall is enjoyable and better than what comes off in the clips. Rareties II would be amazing. Reclaiming her Hot 100 crown will be a sweet moment this year.
I am still hopeful for some new music this year and I'm sure I will enjoy whatever she puts out, she's taken this long so it surely won't be something subpar. I have never not enjoyed any Mariah album. I enjoyed Caution.
Whatever the reason for her vocal decline, imagine if it pains us - how does she feel about it. It is obviously out of her control or being the perfectionist that she is she would have done something about it if she could have.

I completely agree with you, Jamie. It pains me to accept that the voice we once knew is gone forever. That's why I no longer enjoy her live performances, not out of hate, but because it brings a sense of sadness. The whistle register was the last piece of her vocal magic, but now it sounds flat and unpleasant.
Honestly, I'm more excited about The Rarities II than anything else at this point. It has dawned on me that Mariah hasn't recorded anything in six years, likely because she can no longer deliver decent vocals, even in the studio. It's truly heartbreaking.
That said, I'm deeply grateful for the incredible legacy and discography she has left us. When she was at her best, she was truly in a league of her own.
At this point, I just want to celebrate one last victory, her reclaiming the record for the song with the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. If nothing else, it's a testament to her enduring impact on music history.

So that entire bathroom floor 2.0 episode was just over Taylor using a hand written polaroid for her album cover then basically? Nothing else on the 1989 album was plausibly Mariah's idea (one song title from an old Mariah album is nothing to alarm the village elders about - in my opinion).

See this is more of what I can believe more than the post that came after you regarding a full on T Swift theft moment. I don't think Taylor Swift had any plans of stealing song concepts from Mariah. If it's similar visual I get it but I don't think Mariah would ever use MC 1989 like TS used TS 1989 on her cover since MC doesn't acknowledge time hahah but it could be she just wrote "MC Demo" and used Polaroids and has nothing to do with actual musical direction of the song. I also remember the vault controversy that came up so your theory kinda lines up. Also stated in the other post is SIO being a similar song to Mariah's song - they couldn't be farther apart - MC is a beat heavy RnB song about a cheating lover, T Swift's is a full pop song talking about what people think she's like. I am no Swiftie but in 2014 Mariah would be the farthest thing from a completion to Mariah for her to try to create comparisons, they don't even have a single song that sounds alike but there are other common titles that weren't single just like many other artists might have common singles.

What could Beyonce have possibly stolen from Mariah though? Doing a visual album? 15 music videos? She was already in her "mediocre and barely any videos" era she sure as hell did not have 15 planned for Miamtec (hopefully). Something doesn't add up there. Plus we know if you do Mariah wrong you don't exist for her. And Beyonce and her kids came to Mariah's Christmas concert, took pictures backstage, they hung out at the Grammy party with videos of them meeting each other very warmly. The only thing could have been the idea for a surprise release. Which would never have worked for her.

Yeah, Carlos. I remember Mariah first talking about a contemporary artist stealing her album concept down to the visuals in this L.A. Times article from 2015.
That puts the time where the actual interview was conducted several weeks or even a couple of months before being published on May 4th 2015 (around March). Mariah also dated the Thieving event in question, 2 months prior to the sit-down just like you said, Carlos. That tracks perfectly with Beyoncé album released on December 13th 2014.
Mariah was still signed to Island Def Jam in 2015 and a certain Mr Carter was the president of the label until just 2009. He would have still maintained professional as well as personal relationship with many of the people with access to Mariah (and Mariah herself) in the company much like Tommy had connections to Columbia Pictures through his Sony presidency, during the production of "Glitter".
There were also so many incessant red herrings in every media, blogs and forums about Mariah releasing a surprise album a lá Beyoncé, all through out 2015 - before she even mentioned her album sabotage. Damage control and preemptive deflection from the other artist's camp most probably. A certain subsection with online presence were hating on Mariah, hard, all up in the comment sections, calling her jealous of Beyoncé and all manner of attributes more fitting their own queen. These real world scenarios only make sense in this context.
This is why we we are sometimes robbed of nice things. It's why I don't mind when Mariah clams up, plays up her diva act or is vague. Her creativity always gets taken advantage of by collaborators, industry rivals and even friends. I guess it's a compliment that so many see her as the one to beat even now when they try and relegate her to being nothing but a Christmas legacy act. My 2025¢.

You are right but The difference is that Mariah is a writer, creator and a composer as well unlike Cher and she still has some music in her even if her voice can no longer support her. And I think it'd be amazing to hear what she can still create. Touring yes I'd agree one hundred percent, she needs to stop like yesterday.
I know you didn't mention Mariah Edward, but it just felt like the natural progression for this topic. One more album then she can hang up her earpiece.

That's what I call someone being real and having respect for her audience. She's had a long and celebrated career.

Robert Anthony you are the voice of unwavering optimism on this board and I'm sorry you can't just abandon your role like a Mariah cookie. Yes her business side seems to be pretty ambiguous but we are barely a week into January. She has plenty of time to get her shit together and give us MC16 this fall.
I don't think she's hanging out with Anderson [.Paak] just for us to discuss their chemistry. They are cooking something. Her not having a contract/label is probably the reason we are not hearing much about MC16. She has repeatedly said it is coming. I believe once things fall into place she will be motivated enough to finish it off.

Shezz, I am starting think that we will not be getting a new album or single this year. I have had that feeling all week because something just seems off with the whole business side of MC's career. MC has not talked much lately about who her manager is or what label she is on. If an artist is under a recording contract, doesn't he or she has to deliver an album within a certain time frame.
