I don't think Taylor Swift had any plans of stealing song concepts from Mariah. If it's similar visual I get it but I don't think Mariah would ever use MC 1989 like TS used TS 1989 on her cover since MC doesn't acknowledge time hahah but it could be she just wrote "MC Demo" and used Polaroids and has nothing to do with actual musical direction of the song. I also remember the vault controversy that came up so your theory kinda lines up. Also stated in the other post is SIO being a similar song to Mariah's song - they couldn't be farther apart - MC is a beat heavy RnB song about a cheating lover, T Swift's is a full pop song talking about what people think she's like. I am no Swiftie but in 2014 Mariah would be the farthest thing from a completion to Mariah for her to try to create comparisons, they don't even have a single song that sounds alike but there are other common titles that weren't single just like many other artists might have common singles. I remember Mariah first talking about a contemporary artist stealing her album concept down to the visuals in this L.A. Times article from 2015. That puts the time where the actual interview was conducted several weeks or even a couple of months before being published on May 4th 2015 (around March). Mariah also dated the Thieving event in question, 2 months prior to the sit-down just like you said, Carlos. That tracks perfectly with Beyoncé album released on December 13th 2014. Mariah was still signed to Island Def Jam in 2015 and a certain Mr Carter was the president of the label until just 2009. He would have still maintained professional as well as personal relationship with many of the people with access to Mariah (and Mariah herself) in the company much like Tommy had connections to Columbia Pictures through his Sony presidency, during the production of "Glitter". There were also so many incessant red herrings in every media, blogs and forums about Mariah releasing a surprise album a lá Beyoncé, all through out 2015 - before she even mentioned her album sabotage. Damage control and preemptive deflection from the other artist's camp most probably. A certain subsection with online presence were hating on Mariah, hard, all up in the comment sections, calling her jealous of Beyoncé and all manner of attributes more fitting their own queen. These real world scenarios only make sense in this context. This is why we we are sometimes robbed of nice things. It's why I don't mind when Mariah clams up, plays up her diva act or is vague. Her creativity always gets taken advantage of by collaborators, industry rivals and even friends. I have had that feeling all week because something just seems off with the whole business side of MC's career. MC has not talked much lately about who her manager is or what label she is on. I just can't believe MC is just writing songs in her journal and not going into the studio to lay down vocals. Maybe you are right, MC hasn't posted any studio pics because she just hasn't been inspired by anyone or even her own vocal capacities now. Rare Whenever You Call video (107,919) by Shezz from Pk I just came across this recently posted video from the Perth Butterfly concert - I don't know if it's new or been around for a while. Her voice was definitely tired and worn out but she soldiered on (98% live) and her rasp was still pretty. The climax audio transition was tough to watch - not too smooth in the early days I suppose but still a beautiful performance of an amazing song. Also she looked so gorgeous here - no frills no elaborate impractical gowns just a simple white top and a pair of jeans. (Saturday 4 January 2025; 13:04)

The new super audio CD of Merry Christmas by Mobile Fidelity sounds fantastic. If you have a decent hifi set up and a good pair of headphones, it's worth investing in, as personally I think it is the best the album has ever sounded. There's so many nuances to unearth, I find with each listen I'm discovering more about an album I thought I knew inside out. Last Christmas (107,866) by Shezz from Pk It's interesting to see the [Spotify] daily charts (USA) have All I Want at #4 on [Christmas] day with Brenda Lee on 1. Mariah never made it to number1 on USA [Spotify] daily charts the whole of the last week (whenever I check). I suppose Spotify isn't the most popular streaming platform in the US since she's been consistently number 1 on the BB streaming charts. Globally she reigns supreme of course with the overall [Spotify] numbers. The [Netflix] NFL bit was cute. A little too short I thought but I suppose they just wanted to use the song as more like opening credits to their [Christmas] presentation. Crazy how versatile and representative it is. I think making new music is really at the bottom of her priorities right now, let alone bringing the TEOM energy. It could be that she isn't currently on a label and doesn't want to release a solid body of work until she has logistics in place. She also seems more excited about her biopic rather than an album. We've been hearing she's got 10 songs ready for a while now and she has yet to lay vocals. TEOM Mariah wrote 4 bangers in a span of less than 48 hours. She was hungry back then she had something to prove, I think right now she has fully embraced her "legend" status and "retired until Christmas" status. Music will always be special to her and sometimes her inner Mimi comes out hungry to make a splash that's why she tried jumping on many hot remixes in recent times, but I don't know why she always jumps in by the time the momentum is gone. I will ofcourse always be hungry for new Mariah music so I hope she releases a full body of work soon (unpopular opinion I could not care less about her alt rock album). Do you think it's because she has created a lot of music over the last 30 odd years and doesn't have much inspiration or drive to do more or because she knows her new music doesn't sell at all and hence doesn't feel motivated to put new music out any more? I feel she is motivated by success and that's why she puts more of an effort into the Christmas seasons? Does she even have a record label contract currently? I do feel she has one more album left in her and we will get something in the near future. I have a feeling she is still searching for her sound and hasn't created anything that really excites her yet hence when she talks about new music her old excitement isn't there yet. Even when she talks about it, there's a noticeable lack of the excitement she used to have when she couldn't wait to share what she had been cooking up in the studio. Hot 100 (107,702) by Shezz from Pk Isn't AIWFC projected to chart at #10 this week? Why are we so worried about it not doing well this year?. It's charting one week later than last year but pretty high - probably just missed the top 25 mark last week. It is strange how Last Christmas debuted at 38 with that rule. It is my second most favourite Christmas song of all time - I'd be happy if it gets to number 1 as well.
