Article: "Caution" debuts at No. 1 on top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (86,710)
by Terri from USA

I have yet to hear any Caution tracks play on the radio (Central Florida). I don't understand how radio play works. Seems to me that if her songs received even a modicum of more air play they would move up the charts more and faster. I wondered if she was being put on the back burner because she's not of the new era. As a fan, it's so frustrating.

Article: In defense of Mariah doing the absolute bare minimum (77,843)

I prefer singers like Mariah on stage, alone. For me dancers are a distraction. Sade, Pattie Labell, Mary Blige even Adele and others of that limited class of singers, can stand alone without the extras.

Stealing Taraji's Thunder (56,402)
by Terri from USA

I think the media makes up stuff to create gossip and derision. I doubt Taraji gives a dam about the possibility of MC taing attention from her. First, Taraji, most likely, realizes that the appearance of MC in whatever role, will definitely add to the ratings, and that it's not like she's becoming a cast member, it's a guest role like all the other invitees by Lee (i.e. Chris Rock, for another). And the article, pointing out that MC has been asked to appear because she's a friend of Lee's, well, "Duh", just about all of the celebrity guest invitees mentioned over the last are friends of Lee's. There is no story here. Just can't wait to see ultimate real diva MC on the show. Hopefully, he will create a diva role for her, because in her last 2 roles in his movies he really down-played her aura. Actually, I can envision "diva street byatch" Cookie having a showdown with "diva highbrow byatch" MC. Mmm, good TV.

With all due respect (53,595)

Contrary to some of the negative comments about MC's BBA performance, she still was good. I was concerned that she would lip sinc or not hit the high notes. I sat close to the TV timing her breathing, lipping, and sound. They were in sync. You could distinguish her actual voice. Are her vocal acrobats as sharp and on point like back in the day? No. But it's still the best out there. Patti LaBelle on DWTS and Chaka Kahn a while back, have both adjusted there changing voice abilities. It's evitable. But all three can still out-sing today's top poppers. I bet not one who would want to be on stage with either of the 3. When radio folks and journalists knock her singing and even her emotional and mental stability, I ignore them. Just as many media outlets also praised her performance. Did I bemoan her cancelling a show knowing the fall out and possible impact of attendance on her future shows? Yes. But that's MC. As her fans she can make us a bit nervous. However, she always comes back. Her accomplishments, even now, "#1 to Infinity" climbs the charts (in spite of LA Reid's predictions?), her business acumen, writing talents, and ever growing net worth, she can laugh all the way to the bank. About JLo, the media wants a firestorm. On American Idol she's often spoken highly of MC. On BBA: maybe she was thinking, "Damn, she's still got it" or "Will I be able to carry a Vegas show?" or "I wish I could just stand there and sing half as good." That's my take, dahlings.

I liked it, sounds better on Vevo (52,396)
by Terri from USA

I like the song, more especially, her voice sounds good. But will there be fall out from NC? Mariah must anticipate that it will and doesn't care. What in the world did he do? I listened first on iTunes and couldn't get a real feel, then I googled YouTube which has the full song with lyrics and a Vevo "video" of sorts. The song, for me, sounds better, although someone mentioned over produced, if that references the music seems too "big" than that is the issue for me. Maybe by the time they put out the album they will have tweaked it. But no matter, I still like it and the more I hear it the better it sounds. As far as the comment comparing her to Swift and other pop singers, MC always has a ballad or two on her albums along with upbeat tempo arrangements. Anyway, I never think of her as a pop singer. So I would never compare her to Swift, Beyonce or Rihanna, to name 3 of the better ones. In my opinion, MC is a high skilled vocalist, on par with the likes of, Whitney, Chaka Khan, Pattie LaBelle, etal. Her range and vocal abilities (even on a bad day) will always be on a higher level than today's pop singers. Her music, stylistically, is more urban, hip/hop on the soul side of rthym and blues, rather than sugar pop.

Why she's quiet (46,098)
by Terri from USA

My take on her not speaking out on the album release fiasco is that she has to be devastated, embarassed and quite possibly, humiliated. How does it happen, how could it happen, that none of her songs are getting airplay? A few with the ability to be legitimate hits. Some huge errors were made. If she gave interviews she might very well be placed in a position where she would have to throw some folks under the bus, i.e., her close friend/manager Dupri being the main one. As captain of the ship, so to speak, he was the man in charge, in delegating and overseeing. This has been a major mess-up. I think her leaving the country and letting things die down is a good thing. I just hope that her leaving is not a harbinger of her marriage breaking up. And BTW, why is Arianna even a discussion on this site?

Huge promotion errors (45,911)
by Terri from USA

I think it was a mistake that MC hired JD as her manager. I think their collaboration status worked well all these years, as it was. I think JD's expertise is in production not promotion. As manager it was his job to oversee everything, he has to take responsibility. I think he was over his head this time. MC, like every artist, once she leaves the studio she relies on her staff to do their jobs. I live in Orlando FL and as of this date I have not heard one song since the cd's release, not one. The only time I heard "You don't know what to do" was on New York NBC Today's morning show in May when she opened the summer concert series and it was really good. I kept/keep waiting to hear it on the radio and nothing. That is simply unheard of and and unforgivable, a sure sign of extreme mismanagement. I still don't understand how the music is getting no airplay. If I was MC I would be very pissed and very embarassed. BTW, about her being sexy, she is demure compared to most artists out there. She does have diva-ness sewed up , but she's no more sexy than others.
