Mariah Carey movie completes filming

The fake snow has been stowed. The Christmas tree lights have been unplugged. The Mariah Carey-directed holiday movie wrapped Friday after about three weeks of filming in Greater Cincinnati. Lacey Chabert of "Mean Girls" fame stars in "A Christmas Melody", along with actor Brennan Elliot of "Strong Medicine" and "Flight 93". The film is slated to air on Hallmark at 8 p.m. December 19 as the final original film of the channel's Countdown to Christmas series.

This October, the crew was spotted in Hyde Park, as well as Wyoming and Oak avenues, Village Green and the 400 block of Wyoming Avenue. The production temporarily transformed the area, spreading fake snow on the streets, hanging Christmas wreaths on street poles and installing Christmas trees on the sidewalk. The Hallmark crew also filmed at Wyoming Middle School Oct. 9 and 13, utilizing two classrooms, including a music room.

According to USA Today, "A Christmas Melody" is about a music teacher who helps a young girl who is new in town write a song for the community's Christmas show. The Christmas project is the second film in production in Cincinnati this fall. The action flick "Marauders", starring Bruce Willis of "Die Hard" fame and Christopher Meloni, of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", wrapped October 16.
