Mariah Carey has dropped a truckload of shade on today's pop stars (pointedly directed at her arch nemesis Ariana Grande, we're sure) with a bold statement about the ways they rise to fame without putting in the work. "I think now it's more about people selling themselves, like online. It's more about, 'Here's what I did today. Let me do something and shock the world,' rather than so much about the music," the five-time Grammy award-winning singer recently told Business Insider.
"There are some artists where it is about the music and that's great," she said. "But I just look at it like, it's different than when you had to start out and people had to either connect with your song or not. Whereas now you can become a big artist without even necessary having a number one record because of how many followers you have." Claps for real talent.
