Billboard 200: Mariah Carey returns with Christmas album

On the latest Billboard 200 albums chart (dated November 24), Kane Brown scored his first No. 1 with Experiment. The country singer-songwriter's album arrived atop the list with 126,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending November 15, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 107,000 were in album sales.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week's most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Now, let's take a closer look at some of the action on the rest of the Billboard 200:

Mariah Carey, Merry Christmas - No. 102
The pop powerhouse's Merry Christmas album - featuring her enduring hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You" - returns to the chart at No. 102 (9,000 units; up 68 percent) as we march towards the Christmas holiday. The set, like many holiday efforts, revisits the chart each season. Last Christmas season, it reached No. 18 (chart dated January 7, 2018) - the album's highest rank since its initial chart run back in 1994 and 1995, when it peaked at No. 3 (December 17, 1994).

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200, a number of Christmas albums return to the tally, including: the TV soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas (No. 147 with 6,000 units; up 1,645 percent), Pentatonix's That's Christmas To Me (No. 150 with 6,000 units; up 58 percent), Elvis Presley's The Classic Christmas Album (No. 187 with 6,000 units; up 37 percent) and Bing Crosby's The Best of Bing Crosby - 20th Century Masters: The Christmas Collection (No. 199 with 5,000 units; up 48 percent).
