Pop star Mariah Carey is opening a Christmas-themed bar and lounge in Dallas called Mariah Carey's Black Irish Holiday Bar. This November, only five cities across the U.S. are getting the Black Irish-sponsored Mariah Carey holiday bar: New York, Chicago, Nashville, New Orleans and Dallas.
Mariah Carey is a holiday mainstay thanks to her massive 1994 hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You". The singer is so synonymous with the holiday that she even tried to trademark "Queen of Christmas".
The Mariah Carey's Black Irish Holiday Bar is at the Virgin Hotel's Commons Club, located at 1445 Turtle Creek Blvd. in Dallas from November 15 to December 29, 2024. The hours are 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
There are photo opportunity spots, including a life-sized Mariah cut-out as well as an "All I Want for Christmas Is You" photo booth. The pop-up is decorated with Christmas trees and nutcrackers. Stacks of postcards are available to write Mariah holiday letters.
Themed drinks include make my wish come true martini (Black Irish Original Irish Cream Liqueur, Grey Goose, Borghetti Coffee Liqueur, peppermint simple syrup and cold brew), queen of Christmas cocoa (Black Irish Original Irish Cream Liqueur, Jameson, cocoa, coffee and whipped cream) and the MC martini (Black Irish White Chocolate Irish Cream Liqueur, Absolut Vanilla, Grey Goose and Creme de Cacao), among others. All cocktails are priced at $18.
Holiday "winter bites" food is also served, but it does not appear to be Mariah Carey-themed. Eats include crab cakes, whipped ricotta on grilled bread, chicken wings, flatbread, the uncommon burger, crispy Brussel sprouts, among other dishes, with prices ranging from $11 (for truffle fries) to $24 (for the charcuterie board).
Do you like Mariah Carey? I mean, really, really, really like Mariah Carey? If not, this might be a bit of a hike from Far North Dallas or Collin County, depending on the tie of day. (Our recommendation: If you do go, go late to avoid rush hour traffic.)
Keep in mind that Mariah Carey's Black Irish Holiday Bar is 21-and-up-only. So no kiddos, even if they are Mariah diehards. Also, if you are in the Design District having dinner at, say, Carbone, The Charles or SER Steak + Spirits, then it might be fun to head over to the pop-up for a nightcap.
