Mariah Carey applauds New York healthcare workers

Mariah Carey paused her Easter holiday celebrations to pay tribute to healthcare workers in New York. New York broke into applause over the weekend for those on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic.

The singer joined in with the poignant moment from the rooftop of her home where she had been celebrating Easter with her family. In a clip shared to her Instagram page, Mariah, wearing Easter bunny ears, gave a round of applause against a backdrop of the New York city skyline.

The 50-year-old added in a caption:"7pm in NYC on Easter. Clappng for our heroes. Thank you." The star also posted a cute family photo posing with her twins Monroea nd Moroccan, both eight, on the rooftop terrace.

Her kids beamed as they showed of baskets filled with brightly coloured eggs, having still been able to enjoy some Easter fun from the comfort of their own home. It comes after Mariah posted an emotional message thanking The Breathe Harmony NHS choir who covered her song Anytime You Need A Friend to highlight their work during the pandemic.

Breathe Harmony is the staff choir at Guy's and St Thomas' hospital in London, run by Breathe Arts Health Research, and they put together an international recording now doing the rounds on YouTube.

Sharing the stunning clip on Twitter, Mariah wrote: "This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much to all the people at the NHS. We are so grateful to you."

Meanwhile the Heartbreaker singer formed part of the line up of a benefit concert, hosted by iHeart Radio, to aid coronavirus relief efforts in the US. Hosted by Elton John in his front room, the likes of Billie Eilish, Alicia Keys and the Backstreet Boys joined him from their own homes to perform.
