Mariah Carey heralds the holiday season

Mariah Carey has released her annual video officially announcing the start of the Christmas season. This year, the singer dressed as Morticia Addams for the festive clip, which begins in eery black and white before the clock hits midnight on November 1 and there's a pop of color and festivity.

For the video, Carey is joined by an actor playing Gomez Addams who dances with her through the halls of a mansion on Halloween. As Christmas arrives, he transforms into a cheery snowman and Carey's iconic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" begins to play. As it unfolds, the singer intones her signature "It's tiiiiiime", marking the transition from fall to winter.

Last year, Carey's video saw the singer being unfrozen from a vault just in time for November 1. As she emerged from the ice, melted with hair dryers, she proclaimed, "It's time!"

This year, Carey will celebrate the holidays on her Christmas Time tour, stopping in 20 cities through November and December. The singer will start her run of holiday shows on the West Coast with a stop in Southern California's Yaamava Theater on Nov. 6, before visiting Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl on November 8, along with stops in Dallas, Nashville, St. Louis, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. She'll close the tour in her native New York City on December 17 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

A press release for the tour teased that the new run will mark her "grandest holiday spectacle to date" and marks the "first of many surprises" ahead of the 30th anniversary of the ever-so-iconic holiday single "All I Want for Christmas Is You".

Yesterday, Carey appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show to reflect on the legacy of her holiday tune 30 years later. She even arrived to the talk show in a red dress, escorted by two hot Santas for the occasion. "I don't know numbers," Carey said. "I don't acknowledge them, but, yes, this is the 30th anniversary."
