Magic Radio has gone 100% Christmas as Breakfast presenters Harriet Scott and Harry Judd were joined by Mariah Carey to press play on a month of back-to-back Christmas tunes. Chatting to the pair Mariah revealed that even she couldn't do Christmas all year round but when she goes in, she goes all in.
"I could listen to one or two Christmas songs all year round, but I prefer to wait until it's time for the whole thing to become Christmassy," she told them. "I just want to say to everybody thank you, thank you so much and I'm ecstatic to be here with you pushing the 100% Christmas button"
Of course, the first song played had to be All I Want for Christmas Is You. The song is 30 years old this year and to celebrate Mariah has released a very special 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition on vinyl.
The singer has had not one, but two Christmas albums and it was a song from her own collections that she picked as one of her most loved festive tracks: "I have a song that's called Miss You Most at Christmas that's from my first Christmas album and that's a favourite of mine," she revealed
When asked about her Christmas traditions she confessed that up until very recently she had found the idea of Boxing Day very strange. "It's only recently that I realised that Boxing Day didn't have something to do with boxing and fighting. I used to think that's what it was I was so I would just be like 'yeah in England they box on the day after Christmas' but now I know," she admitted.
