Believe it or not, but Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" is charting all over again. The iconic diss track, which takes aim at Eminem, has debuted at number 23 on Billboard's R&B Streaming Songs chart.
Why? Well, Mimi's 2009 bop has gone viral on social media thanks to heavy use on short-form video sharing site, TikTok. And those views now count towards the charts.
While it's great to see the pop icon on any chart (even one that nobody quite understands), it would be great to see this kind of energy for her new, very good music.
Of course, charting with a 10-year-old hit is nothing new for Mariah. The vocal queen returns to the Billboard Hot 100 annually with "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (it reached a new peak in 2018, 24 years after release).
Speaking of Mimi's festive fare, she recently announced a 25th anniversary deluxe edition of Merry Christmas. The 2CD set will be released on November 1 and could belatedly send the album to number one. Which would be long overdue and thoroughly deserved.
