Mariah Carey revisits Butterfly era with five EPs

One of the most amazing things about New Music Friday this summer has been the abundance of music rarities from Mariah Carey's storied career. After the Queen of Evergreen Content came to "Save The Day" last Friday with Lauryn Hill, she builds on the excitement around her celebratory #MC30 campaign with the release of five projects from the Butterfly era: Honey, Butterfly, My All, The Roof, and Breakdown.

Being a fan of Carey doesn't mean you've heard all the alternative versions and mixes of the respective singles from this illustrious album. The five EPs though, titled after each song - two Hot 100 chart-toppers ("Honey," "My All") and three fan-favorite cuts - are equipped with their own additional set of different mixes from the album sessions.

Since the #MC30 campaign started, Carey has revisited the Music Box, Daydream, and Emotions albums with rare EPs. She also shared an EP that featured her very first live performances at Club Tatou in New York City some time back.

On October 2, Carey is set to release her new album Rarities. The 32-track release, dedicated to her devoted Lambily, will be packaged as two discs. Side one will contain 15 tracks, including the Lauryn Hill-assisted track, while side two will feature songs performed live at Tokyo Dome in 1996, when she was on her Daydream World Tour.

Before the new album, elusive chanteuse's first-ever memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey will hit shelves and digital retailers on September 29. "This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs," Carey wrote in a statement on Instagram. "Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling, and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit."
