The Demi disturbance (63,524)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
It's one thing to love your idol, it's another thing to give yourself and your fellow idol-lovers a moniker under which to search out, vilify or hurt those who disagree with you. Being gleeful, like teenage girls, about ganging up together to attack a person or group because you are "united" with others is very concerning to anyone with a working moral compass. History is fraught with such occurrences with distasteful results. It follows that, inevitably, extremists appear (such as wishing people ill, physically, mentally or emotionally), empowered as they are by the group mentality, and things become exacerbated and more sinister. Essentially this is my way of saying to people like Travis, et al., "Get a hold of yourselves." So Demi Lovato thinks Mariah is a bit of a b*tch to other female singers. So do most people. Mariah has done nothing to disprove it. In fact, recently, she's been pushing the stuck-up diva b*tch attitude, and now she got slapped. She'll probably get slapped again, especially if this story is dragged out. It should be put to bed quickly. If you continue to support Mariah behaving as she recently has, accept she's gonna get slapped. And don't act like children when she does.

Mariah's style (63,523)
by Liz Archer from Sweden
| |

Sometimes Mariah's style is fabulous and sometimes it is just too much. Sometimes I feel that she is using too much make-up, like that interview. It makes her look much older then she really is. Who is styling her these days?

I actually like Nick's song. He seemed fair and truthful especially considering all the TMZ attacks he has been getting. I definitely appreciate his honesty about wanting his kids to be safe. Mariah's recent behavior have beef cause for concern. I hope everything plays out in the best interest of their children. He has been more quiet and reflective, while Mariah has been acting out. Let's hope that they are now in a good place to do the best for the kids either together or separate but co parenting. Anyway they keep blaming Nick but Erica and James have been in the midst of divorce for almost three years already but I bet TMZ doesn't drag her and keep her kids in the middle of the mess. It was very tack of Mariah and her camp to go to TMZ about papers, but they didn't even acknowledge his grandfather's passing. Unconditional love and cooperation is a two way street. Mariah has been very, that's too bad.

Demi's fans are so silly that their only comeback was a screenshot of Mariah's number of instagram followers compared to Demi's. Well Demi all those insta followers yet your album vanished without a trace of the charts. If instagram followers equaled to success/sales Jennifer Lopez would not have been flopping away, along with Demi. Immature comeback from immature fans of an immature artist.

The infamous derriere Instagram post. I liked it. Mariah has been accused of not having an ass or wearing butt padding in the tabloids. She's clearly been working out and she wants to show off and I say good for her. She hasn't looked this good in years. She also hasn't sounded this good in years.

Demi deserved the whooping (63,517)
by Sheila from United States
| |

She needs to mind her business, focus on her own career and keep her mouth shut. She has no clue why Mariah does not like Jennifer Lopez, maybe she has a valid point. If Demi spent as much time on vocal lessions, learning her craft and singing on "key" live she would be a much bigger success story but right now there is not much that separates her from the other girls.

So with the Demi drama, Nick's new song got little to no attention. Did you all hear his song where he talks about the divorce and signing the papers?

These two songs are unbelievable. What I love about Mariah's songs is, everytime you listen to it, you explore something new. Just little things you didn't recognize. It's like a musical journey.

Travon dahlin' my message wasn't directed at you, sorry if it came out that way. I was just referring to some of the posts I've seen on instagram about the fans pushing Demi to start cutting herself and teasing her about her issues. I do agree with you about lambs coming and backing Mariah up. Not just that 90% of the people, lambs and non-lambs alike were on Mariah's side and it is indeed a great feeling because people take every opportunity to write Mariah off.

Yes Mariah's image is not the best. Would be interesting to know if she knows it? Or if she has no idea what "the people" think. Maybe she doesn't care anymore. I mean as a living legend whould you care?

Oh you're so right. I remember Mariah being a diva in 95 and 96. And I loved it because she was always classy and at that time it was clear she's the biggest female star. Demi Lovato is a joke and although a kid. She's unknown in many countries.

All this jazz about the "public" (63,510)
by Lee from USA
| |
|
|
Oh please. If the "general public" really liked JLo over Mimi, then why does anything associated with JLo is almost always flopping? Nearly every movie that she starred in has flopped, even those with A-list co-stars. The only times that she's had a hit single is either with Pitbull (who should ditch her now), or by ripping off other artists. Every TV show of hers either had been canned or on the verge of being canned. That's why we should not lose sleep over a bunch of hypocrites. As far as Demi goes, it wasn't wise to pick fights with legends and their fanbases, especially when her fanbase is way smaller.

Demi (63,509)
by darrian liu from taiwan

While her comments were totally uncalled for and misinformed and I did flood her IG with lamb emojis (guilty as charged), like many people here said, it is a good representation of what the public thinks of Mariah. Mariah is still seen as an egocentric diva who constantly throws shade around. The blowing up of "I don't know her" just made it worse and JLo somehow still gets the public on her side even if us lambs know that Mariah won't go for someone unless that person goes for her first. What's worse is that Stella is from a reality TV background and it shows in the coverage of Mariah in the news or social media. All those promotion of "ratchet" behaviour like reinforcing shades, unclassy posts (remember the booty shot?) is just hurting Mariah's image more and more. I hope this could be a wake up call for Mariah and her team because at this point, it seemed like Mariah and her team are in this bubble of ignorance against all the public perception of Mariah. I really want Mariah to have more success and to be likeable again to the public. I know she can write more hits and her voice is regaining its strength. I have faith that Mariah can be on top again, but she and her team really has to have a major damage repair on Mariah's image.

My little tangent (63,508)
by Alex from United States
| |
|
|
I have to say nothing brings lambs together like a diss towards our Mimi. I too was all over Demi's social media attacking her with a brigade of lamb emojis. That being said as a proud lamb defending my queen M, I couldn't help but think of Mariah's lack of support through USA's worst mass murder since 9/11. Now I know Mariah dedicated a song to the victims and I'm also acknowledge that social media is not everything but as a loyal fan to the death I can't help but wish for something more from MC. When I heard billionaire Mark Cuban donated a million dollars to the Dallas police department to help better protect the LGBT community it brought tears to my eyes. I'm not asking Mariah to donate a million dollars as I am sure she is constantly being hit up for money. However, Mariah's creativity is unparalleled and I would have loved to seen more in response to the attack. M has been a long time advocate even back in day when Eminem's homophobic lyrics ruled the charts. I'll end my little tangent saying I'm fully aware that I am not in Mariah's inner circle and will never know all that went down after last weekend's tragedy. I guess I have always looked towards Mariah for comfort during times of heart ache and this is no exception.

Hey Mimi L. I typed that right before I went to bed. I wasn't able to speak up on the mental health part of it. Although I am happy at the lambs of the land clapping back, I also don't agree with what the lambs are saying about the cutting of the wrist. I don't agree with that and I don't like it. I feel that too much and a little extreme. Overall I am happy that the lambs are sticking up for Mariah including publications. That rarity is what interests me and makes me excited to be a lamb. It's fun to see but also nasty. There has to be that fine line though.

Mariah is friends with several designers, maybe she chooses not to become the face of a brand so she doesn't upset her friends. Plus she loves to switch up designers.

Mariah has always been known as a diva. Even when she was America's sweetheart in the 90's she was still considered a diva. People either love her or hate her. Mariah is polarizing. The only musicians that diss her are those who are threatened by her. Demi can sing but she'll never be as good as Mariah on her worst day. Same for Ms. Grande.

In the fall. Probably September. Most new shows premiere in the fall so I'd say September. E. has acknowledged how big of a deal it is for them to have a show featuring a huge star like Mariah. Despite the low sales of MIAMTEC Mariah is still a megastar.

I agree. I wish that her management learns something from this, time to fix up her image a little bit especially in her social media accounts. Just please end that "I don't know her" saga or whatever JLo related things. I'm pissed that Mariah's name is the one who suffers when actually this things started to brought up in JLo's side but it is what it is so just leave it like that because she can't clearly win that in the eyes of them, JLo will always play the one who is above the fray, nice, and respectable after she keeps talking anyway. And Stella come on now, please keep away Mariah's accounts from your daughter I'm begging you. Hand it with professional ones who will cater on her image's sake and not with the hashtags, blurry photos, and ridiculous captions.

While she is out of line with those remarks, I can't say I'm surprised. With how Mariah is treating her beef with JLo, it was only a matter of time before some other starlet stuck her nose in such issue. I hope this serves as some kind of wake up call for Mariah in a way because while she really isn't "unnecessarily rude", obviously her actions come across as such to some people, and that group of people just happens to be represented by Demi. I believe the remark does ultimately come from a good place, though. You know she is a fan. She does recognize Mariah's stature in the industry. She just has trouble keeping her opinions to herself. I also agree with the Ariana doing nothing wrong part. While Ari is a copycat to some degree, I believe that comes from being a true fan rather than being some usurper. Why? Because a lamb has more than enough faith and belief in Mariah (yes, even at her worst) that she can never, ever be duplicated let alone replaced, even if she never sings another note. Ari is just a lamb who got tired of the media's attempts at pitting her against her idol, whom she has since tried to distance herself from as much as possible. And to us lambs, as inherently cynical as we are, that's "shady".

Demi came at the wrong time (63,499)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Haha I was just thinking Demi might actually get a clap back from Mariah because Mariah is on a sassy route at the moment, what with her dissing JLo again and then clapping back at Wendy through Lee Daniels. I hope to Lord Mariah doesn't respond to it, because Demi is basically irrelevant, but Mariah fueled by her sassy friend Stella might hit her with a revamped "I don't know her shade". Demi better run for cover. The minions have already attacked, if the queen responds, she is as good as done. The biggest response would be silence though, because why talk back at someone who has no importance? By the way, I would like to add I am not on board with the fans asking Demi to "go cut yourself" and teasing her about her mental issues. That should be off limits. It's very sensitive and she suffers from it. As long as the lambs have Mariah's back without harassing someone about their mental state, it's fair game. So lambs please be sensitive about that. Mental health and cutting is not fun and games. It's a serious issue and pushing her over the edge might break her. We don't want that.
