Re: Repetitive Vegas show (63,322) (63,337) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
First of all, I wasn't the one complaining so ya but anyways people are only complaining about it because Mariah said she will be changing up the setlist, not just once mind you, if you would have followed her promo radio call ins, you would have known that. Secondly she has a 13 year old, not an 18 year old running her instagram (why even write something without fact checking queen? Why, I ask?), and pray tell me what fun things you spotted currently on her profile that goes with her personality/age/status as a legend. The Boomerang shots? I'm sure that is amusing to you, or the emojis? Or random pointless pictures which are not even flattering? Don't even bother, there isn't any and the captions don't even sound remotely like Mariah's. At least RaeRae or whoever did the posts before tried to keep it as close to Mariah's own when Mariah used to personally use the social media around 2009. Thirdly, since you know Mariah personally, do share with us how "Infinity" was so important for her. Before you say it was about letting Nick go, please go to Mariah's Cohen interview where she says something like "sometimes artists write songs where everything is a made up story" and Mariah has written many diss tracks/tracks about getting over exes previously, and also a whole album supposedly about Nick not being there, so I think she already had it out of her system, but of course I don't know her personally like you do. Last but certainly not the least, congrats on yet another pointless post. You are definitely on your way to set a record.

That is the best interview Mariah has given in a long time. Kudos to the interviewer. And my condolensces to the families of victims in the Orlando shootings.

He did. Lol they might need to tell Rocky to stop the boobies and butts fascination, or talk for a few years.

I saw the snapchats he posted. I got a good laugh. They are the cutest. Roe Roe rapping is hilarious. Did Roc really say we're doing butt stuff? I'm hoping I heard that wrong. Lol.

Saddest event I've ever seen in the gay community. I prayed last night for each of them and there families. To think the kids went out to celebrate pride and some didn't come home. Very very sad. Would be nice if Mariah and Boy II Men would unite to sing it one last time.

Re: Kelly Price (63,307) is rude (63,332) by Sheila from United States
Kelly Price is industry poison. Maybe she did secretly do the vocal arrangement for "Anytime you need a friend". Mariah wrote the song and made it a classic. Kelly Price at 50 years old or whatever does not have 1 classic to her name. She is a background vocalist.

On a cute note (63,328) by RibbonB from USA
Monroe is a cheerleader. Nick posted some great video on his Instagram of Roc and Roe playing and talking. Roe seems like she has more rhythm than her mom, but her voice is raspy just like her mom. Roc is a freaking comedian as Mimi has said. I'm glad the kids are funloving and playful. Ah the innocence of childhood. Mariah has said that theybare not easy, but that's parenthood.

Yes you have been beating that dead horse for way too long and I don't get the point of your redundant, depressing, "oppressed lamb" post. Seriously you've just out grown Mariah if all you can do is come on here and cry about missing her early 90s voice and how your friends give her a hard time about not being able to sing anymore. Now you've allow edthem to sway you into spewing their sentiments all over this messageboard. And for what? If you prefer all those other singers voices over Mariah then that's fine. Whoever is the best singer to you is all subjective anyway. Mariah is still my favorite vocalist for many reasons that I'll just sum up as her voice affects me more than any other singer. It's not about one quality particular quality to me, it's about how that persons voice makes you feel.

Re: Repetitive Vegas show (63,321) (63,324) by ADAM from USA
I don't know why she couldn't sing acapella after each era of #1s. She couldn't sing some of her favorite non single songs? She's just so lazy. I love how the premise of SSFT was that she's change up her songs based on each city and yet she never did outside of Fly Like A Bird. It's funny because as much as she complains about singing the same ballads all the time, she does nothing to change it when she can.

Randy, Kelly isn't the only singer that did backing vocals on those songs. I just looked and my copies say Mariah also sang backing vocals.

Re: Repetitive Vegas show (63,321) (63,322) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
I find it interesting (and here I go again disagreeing with the majority) that Mariah is the only artists alive that can have a show with only number one songs and still people are not pleased. If the show is called "Number one's" then I think she can't change the set list that much. It's repetitive? Yes it is, but it's 18 number one songs, from which 17 are self penned tunes. Second point: Mariah has an 18 year old running her instagram. I ask why? Because she posts fun carefree stuff? I think some people are so concerned with Mariah's life that they forget to take care of their own. Thrid point: Crapfinity? What is that even? People don't understand the importance of Infinity for Mariah. Why should she remove it? Some just dont have any respect for Mariah the person, all you care about is the next number one, the next album, the next hit, without thinking about the person behind all those hits. That's why Mariah will come back stronger and slap you all in the face.

Re: Repetitive Vegas show (63,320) (63,321) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Haha "Crapfinity" I can't. But if I'm not mistaken, I heard her say she might replace "Infinity" with some other songs for different shows when she called in to the radio interviews. So I was surprised that she is continuing with"Infinity".

Re: Repetitive Vegas show (63,316) (63,320) by Licia from USA
In all fairness when it comes to the Vegas show we honestly should not have expected much to change with the setlist because it's centered around her number 1's and Crapfinity. You should have known that when she said there would be changes to the Vegas show that she meant outfits. Lol. Now the SSFT is another story. There was so much she could have done. With the catalog that she has there could have been a better variety of songs.

The Remixes (63,319) by Merr Hasenan from Malaysia
Could somebody here tell me why I Still Believe/Pure Imagination Remix is excluded from the album tracklisting? Columbia omitted that version and up until now, I feel it seems incomplete. I know it was a Columbia release but at least they chose a better picture for the CD cover. It is very tacky.

Re: Billy, B, Giovanni and One Sweet Day (63,310) (63,318) by darrian liu from taiwan
The problem is that Mariah, while I have to admit, isn't the best live performer although she performs well, is a different singer than Whitney, Kelly, Patti or Aretha. I'll just use Whitney to simplify. While both have big voices, Whitney is a singer that relies on the sheer size of her voice and manipulates more on her volume. She is more of the singer that impresses with a single sustained note instead of an intricate melismatic line. Whitney's singing is centered on her power and her acrobatics usually involve power note after power note after power note (the same goes to Aretha, Patti, etc). Meanwhile, Mariah doesn't naturally have the capability to sustain high notes at high volumes. Instead, she relies on her agility and manipulates her voice's texture a lot, as well as making out melodies. Of course, power notes gain more praise that agile runs (that's why Mariah gets much less standing ovations than Whitney, big powerful notes always gain more praises than switching in between textures or insane runs because the public have an easier time understanding powerful belts compared to melisma). Both are equally gifted technical vocalist but are very different. Dare I say, comparing Mariah to Whitney is like comparing Beyoncé (MC) to Jennifer Hudson (WH). Beyonce, like Mariah also relies more on runs and textures while Jennifer's trademark is the same as Whitney's trademark, which is big powerful notes.

Randy / Kelly Price (63,317) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Yes you are correct, Kelly Price sang background vocals on early MC work along with MC herself, her sister (Sharnae Price) and the incredibly gifted Melonie Daniels-Walker. She also learned from MC about the importance of publishing as well. So I gathered MC taught her the ins and outs of the studio and also gave her some business tips as far as publishing and copyrights.

I know. I feel like she hyped up so much that she was going to make small changes to the show for repeat visitors and yet its always the same hack. Same thing for SSFT. She's lazy. She has such a big catalog of songs to sing and could take 10 minutes in a 1.5 hour show so sing acapella some obscure cuts for fans and yet always does not. It really bothers me. This is not something the band has to rehearse or needs an additional costume change. I keep thinking what she did during Jimmy Kimmel's outdoor show where she sang The Roof was clever and appropriate to sing whatever fans requested in the room. How amazing would it have been to go to Vegas and hear her sing Breakdown, Sllpping Away, Prisoner, or Do You Think Of Me?

Randy, I think you have to realize that you don't really like Mariah apparently, sorry to tell you. It seems you marvel at all these other divas, and you can only see Mariah as inferior to them. Which is fine, but I don't see the reason why you want to believe in Mariah when in fact you don't. It seems to me you love the big belters. I love all the classic big voiced divas (not screamers with no sense of melody a la Aguilera) but I relish Mariah's voice both for the resonant mid belts but also for those textured hypnotic areas of her voice (which they sound even more seducing live) as well as for the all the sophisticated jazz influences she brings in, which become more and more prominent as years go by. Whitney could just open her mouth and floor you, no doubt. But the intricacies of Mariah's vocal "decisions" and transitions are simply unmatched. The subtleties and nuances that her voice achieves cannot be undermined by comparisons to big belters.

Re: Butterfly's anniversary (63,311) (63,314) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Fourth Of July will always be my favorite song on Butterfly (not that it was an easy choice at all). So lush, dreamy and colorful. Painting a romantic date through words has never been this magical. Some of the best minutes of my life was listening to it immediately after Underneath The Stars for the first time. Try it and if you aren't feeling even slightly fuzzy and warm right after, you're probably dead inside.

Hi Tevin, I really enjoyed your comment. For me it's nearly the same. I love Daydream so much. But if you listen to the Butterfly album I although see similar pictures that you described. The songwriting on Butterfly is I have to say epic and phenomenal. Especially "Close me eyes". You feel that song every second and can dream with open eyes. It's almost a bit meditative. The same with "Fourth of July".

Re: Billy, B, Giovanni and One Sweet Day (63,304) (63,310) by Randy from USA
Giovanni we're gonna have to agree to disagree. Kelly Price sings back. I may not like her personality, after R&B Divas, but she sings back. All I Want For Christmas, O Holy Night and Fantasy (album version), the backgrounds are all Kelly Price. I definitely don't agree with you on Fantasia and J-Hud as to me they are the torch carriers from Aretha and Patti. And the list of performances you pulled. She lip synced on AMA 2008 and on almost every WBT ever. She either used the album or a raspy backing track when she performed the last hook until her microphone cut back on at the end. The others were good for her but not good when held up against others. Finally, The Essence Awards. Whitney got a standing ovation for coming out and singing a few notes, while I felt MC struggled through that performance, look at her face, and nobody stood for her. See this. But at this point I realize I'm just beating a dead horse to death lol. Pray for Orlando.
