No more shedding for the wedding

She slimmed down in preparation for her wedding to billionaire James Packer. But with the nuptials off, Mariah Carey didn't hold back when she stopped by a pizza parlour late on Friday night - enjoying a warm slice of the cheesy treat. The superstar singer's outing came as it emerged that talks with her Aussie businessman ex Packer had broken down - Mariah is trying to negotiate a settlement following the demise of their relationship.

But that certainly didn't seem to have affected her mood, as the smiling star joined backing dancer Bryan Tanaka at Berri's on 3rd Street in Los Angeles. Tanaka, who is known only by his last name, was widely reported to be the cause of much jealousy from Packer, due to his intense friendship with Mariah. Their close relationship was on show on Friday - at one point Mariah handed a piece of pizza to her pal, and he dug straight in.

The pair were joined by friends for their late night trip and the group spent around two hours at the late night eatery, having dropped by at around 11.30pm. As they left, a reporter asked Mariah how she felt about the news that her ex-husband Nick Cannon was expecting a baby with his new partner. A smile on her face, Mariah sweetly asked an assistant: "Is he talking to me?" before climbing into her car. But she had no hearing problems when complimented on her appearance, swiveling to thank the camera.

Mariah and Packer enjoyed a flashy whirlwind romance which came to an abrupt end in October amidst rumours of her "excessive spending". And early on Saturday it emerged that settlement talks had broken down after the mother-of-two "accused him of being an opportunist and using her celebrity status to secure business deals". The singer, 46, and the billionaire businessman, 48, were reported to be in negotiations for a financial settlement for Mariah, who is said to have wanted $50 million after claiming she had to uproot her life and move to Los Angeles for him.

But now TMZ reports that James insists there is "no legal basis" for him to pay Mariah anything as they weren't married. However, she has apparently accused him of being a "lying opportunist" and claimed he used her fame to help secure lucrative business deals. Mariah was said to have been left "blindsided" when James called off their engagement.

A source recently said: "The split has been devastating for Mariah. She loved James and was planning to marry him. She made life changes for this man to prepare for their future as husband and wife, even relocating to Los Angeles, at James' request, so he could be closer to his children. Everything she has done over the past year is to prove how fully committed she is to their life together. She really wanted this to work. And then, completely out of the blue, it imploded."

And the singer - who has five-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her ex-husband Nick Cannon - is determined to get a financial settlement. However, a source close to the couple recently said: "Of course Mariah wants money, but she's not getting $50 million. There's no negotiations about money because they haven't spoken since the split. He let her keep the engagement ring, and she isn't getting a cent more."
