Orlando (63,419) by Bino from
I know it's pointless to argue with those who seem to have an endless grudge against Mariah, but I'll try anyway. Maybe Mariah mourned the victims privately. Maybe she prayed for them before she went to sleep. Maybe the loved ones and survivors are now listening to Mariah's music to help them get though their sorrow. And maybe you have to have your head examined when your basis of someone's compassion or humanity is his/her Twitter account. Speaking of Twitter, here's a link that shows Mariah dedicating One Sweet Day to the victims. Enough hate. That's the only reason why this board has become less and less inviting. The world is already miserable as it is.

I'm growing up too (63,418) by Edouard from France
I've been reading many posts over the year without commenting (anywhere but in my head). Tyler's post is excellent. It makes me want to say something too. We all need to grow up. And Mariah is showing us the way. To me, the way she behaves and the way she handles her career and personal life can teach us a lesson. In our early 20s, we work/study and try to figure out our wounds from the past without much success. We survive without always knowing what's wrong. We learn. Then, when it becomes too much, we may break down (one way or another) but also break through (whatever we need to break free from). In our early 30s (that's me) we finally understand that we have a voice, we have a say. We can allow ourselves to be who we are, want what we want and it's okay. We also learn how to connect with the ones who can help us grow and distance ourselves from the ones who only know how to take things from us. Mariah hasn't had it easy. Like the rest of us I'm sure. She is still connecting with her fans, but only with those who listen and pay attention. She is not a teen idol anymore. Not like when Heartbreaker came out. I was sixteen, imagine, or even when Honey came out (I think that's the first time I realized what "sexy" meant haha). I am learning to be an adult, as opposed to playing the adult. Mariah is a kid at heart but she's very much a grown mature woman. As a child, she made a promise to herself (like I did) to never become one of those adults who loose their spirit. She knows how to be an adult with a heart. It also means that she has to compartmentalize. There is a time for fun, a time for work, a time for kids, a time for love, a time for fans or dare I say "moments"?

Growing up as fans (63,415) by Tyler from USA
I think a lot of fans on this board have some growing up to do. While I do miss Mariah's fan interaction from the 90's and 00's, I've realized she's in a different place in her life. She is a single mom with 2 toddlers she needs to raise. It's extremely understandable she cannot constantly tweet to fans or post on Instagram. I am a single 20 something year old and I don't have the time to do that. I would think MC's fan base are well into their adulthood since she's been out since the 90's. I would also assume these fans shouldn't need as much attention as a tween Beiber fan. We know MC loves her fans and has done countless things over the year to show this. She has a different life and we need to acknowledge this. Some fans are really coming off as the jealous older sibling who miss their mother's attention now that an addition to the family has arrived. She still speaks about her love for her fans more than any other stars today. Beyonce post Instagram pictures of her outfits. If you consider that connecting with her fans than I can do without it. I'm not saying we shouldn't be fans but maybe we should pull back on the level of obsession we have. Enjoy the music and enjoy voice but realize we aren't teens anymore. This level of obsession well into adulthood is a little scary and I consider myself a die hard fan.

GLAAD she didn't adress it (63,414) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
Mariah doesnt need to come to the public eye express her sorrow, unlike many others who went to [...] rally and mention every victim's name. Just because she doesn't say anything on [...] tweet doesn't make her a bit. But everyone accusing her is an [censored]. I wonder what gives people the right to judge. And why shouldn't MC celebrate Children's Day? She has children so she needs to celebrate it. Get your act together people and stop being so judgemental towards MC. You got no right and she aint your bit** for you to play around.

Exactly. Mariah social media accounts are being ran by a little girl. Move on.

Thank you Darryl for this good comment. Imagine if you should comment on social media everytime a tragic happens. You could write every minute about something bad that happened to innocent people. I would go crazy, it's the same with watching the news. Almost every day a horror story from all over the world. The gunshots in the US, every week/month there's something in the news. The world should do everything to have more peace and equality. Remember the times without social media? Nobody would have attacked a celebrity for not leaving a comment. Mariah is not a head of a state.

Re: Give Mariah a break (63,373) (63,408) by Andrew from UK
"Reductio ad absurdum" is a manipulative tool which people can see through. No, nobody think Mariah is a heartless b*tch and all the other adsurd things written here to detract from what is a very serious point. To quote Obama: "Not acting is a decision in itself." The point is that the (very recent) winner of GLAAD's award for supposedly tirelessly working for the gay community etc. should at least have removed the tweet about National Children's Day out of sensitivity if not posting something that actually shows support for something that has obviously massively affected gay people (a large section of those who give her her money) the world over. I did stand in vigil with thousand of gay people in Soho the other day and understand the vulnerability felt an the seriousness of what happened. It's nothing to do with Mariah if she doesn't want it to be, but like it or not: 1. She accepted an award about supporting gay people so should actually live up to it. 2. She shouldn't have to be wheeled out to the press just because she received criticism for her tweet and subsequent silence, and 3. Like it or not, she was expected to talk to her fans directly for once. It seems many people are wondering who exactly she is now. I'm sure I'm just a big old meanie or worse to some people here, but Mariah needs to get her act together. When it's good I'll shout about it. Stuff like this is PR rubbish and should be minded properly even if, for some reason, no true sentiment exists.

I agree, she is acting like Mariah of 2001 in those snapchats. She looks stoned and free. I need what she's taking please.

I've been wanting new music since she started doing Vegas. I'm happy she's getting back in the studio, but my excitement won't show until a single or album date is announced. I don't care who she works with as long as it's the great music.

I am definitely feeling you on this. It seems all people do is complain. Well I am one who is looking forward to new music. I hope and pray for the best for Mariah. I have been a long time fan.

Re: What’s going on? (63,401) (63,404) by Musti from UK
You're right. Expectations from her are at an all-time high and they're only getting worse by the day. However I'm finding it a little heartbreaking and insensitive to read from lambs who have tried to justify Mariah's silence by referring to the shootings as just another event. Err, no. Especially not in Mariah's circumstances. An ally is someone who actively shows support. I have gone out of my own way to do exactly that. There was an article posted here some time ago (I looked for it Eric but couldn't find it) where the writer applauded Mariah for loving the gays but not as publicly as Lady GaGa so as not to capitalise on them. When she received the ally award, I was surprised but also prepared to accept that she must have done things we are not aware of. I didn't think Lee Daniels would have awarded her simply on the basis of being a close friend. But her silence for days was kinda insulting. I will keep my fingers crossed that she made donations or showed support through other means, even if social media seems to be the most influential way of supporting something these days. Hate is mankind's biggest enemy and she has enough influence to make a change, or make people think twice in the very least. I will get over it eventually but I will always remember this as a major fail. She will always have my love and support. But let's face it lambs, this was a big muck-up.

Orlando response (63,402) by Shezz from Pk
Mariah did react to the horrific Orlando shooting on a radio interview. Would have been nice if she did send out a tweet as well but Mishka probably wasn't feeling it and we all know Mariah has no access to her social media these days. All of you coming for Mariah should go hound Mishka. Thank you Mimi L. for clearing the shooters motives for the general audience. I was about to but glad you did it so well. The media ofcourse is running away with "Islamic extremism" even though it goes way deeper than that. It was a gay man who did it at the end of the day sadly.

What’s going on? (63,401) by 123 from USA
What's going on with our board that used to be so exciting and fun to read all the different vantage points. No one else understood my fandom for Mariah, except for a couple of other "lambs" I've met along the way. I discovered this board in 2012. It seems like we have all been sucked into just complaining and criticizing lately. Remember back when MIAM was about to get released. Everyone complained about her being surrounded by "yes" men. She cleaned house and it seems like there are more complaints although there is plenty of room for improvement and reasons for concern. Then she gained weight and started having embarrassing performances where her live vocals were shot. She's lost the weight and has improved vocally and started to act like a performer again on stage and still more complaints. Then she finally went on an international tour that I've seen plenty of lambs request and then complaints about the tour. Then requests for her to get back to her day job and record new music and she announces it on the radio and not a peep from anyone showing excitement for new material. Nothing about who she should work with, duets, nothing. Of course there is room for improvement in all areas of her career but it seems it seems like the bashing and complaining has taken over. Am I the only one seeing this?

Mariah talks with MorningZoo985 about Orlando (63,400) by 123 from USA

Orlando (63,399) by Darryle from USA
It's so sad that things like Orlando are still happening in 2016 but, let's not attack Mariah for not tweeting about it. I understand that Mariah's fan base is predominately gay and she just recently won a GLAAD Award but, she's not obligated to tweet about Orlando because of those things. Mariah's part black, has a NAACP Award, and has a large black following but no one was up in arms when she didn't tweet about every instance of police brutality last year. If she did acknowledge Orlando it still wouldn't change any of the events that occurred. And for the record Mariah acknowledged Orlando during an interview on MorningZoo985. She said she sends her love and prayers to all the people there.

Orlando (63,398) by 123 from USA
Are celebrities required to tweet every single time a tragedy happens? And if they don't, its safe to assume that they don't care? Am I one of the few that really doesn't care that she didn't tweet about it? What does a damn tweet really mean? Is it supposed to make those who lost someone feel better that "Mariah Carey" sent her condolences? If I had lost a loved one in that club, I could care less about which celebrity sent their condolences. It is not going to bring my loved one back. Is social media and what happens in this pretend internet world really that important to some of us? Maybe we need to step away from our electronic devices a little more, myself included. What if they have a benefit concert for the surviving family members to help them bury their loved ones. All of these people were young so I doubt most of them had life insurance policies. What if Mariah ends up taking apart of this hypothetical concert like she did for Hurricane Sandy. Wouldn't that be more beneficial to those that lost someone? More sincere? What if she does say something or better yet, take part of an event that would actually benefit the surviving family members, would anyone that was quick to judge her make a post taking back what they said? Some won't in my opinion because they seem to relish in the negative and point out every wrong move her and her team do. Instead of judging a celebrity, which is very superficial in a time like this, why don't we all say a prayer for those who lost someone.

Yessss. Garth did it in Vegas. And it was amazing. I think the rearranging and/or acoustic would really give us fans new life. A live cover of a recent song would get Mariah attention from non fans.

Radio comment (63,395) by RibbonB from USA
I hope when people hear her comment made on radio about Orlando, they don't bash her for not saying more. This kind of thing really is a personal matter IMO. She he a show tonight, maybe she will make a statement tonight.

Re: Yeah it sucks (63,356) (63,394) by RibbonB from USA
I love the idea of her rearranging songs. Her BG singers are good enough to stand out more and it could freshen her style. I loved the acoustic stuff she did for the E=MC2 release. Would be nice if she focused more on the songs and singing vs. the boy dancers and showgirl aspect for her Vegas shows. But I guess she is going for the glitz.

Actually (63,392) by Billy from Greece
Now that I come to think about it, Mariah is responsible for all the problems in the world. How could I not see that in the beginning? Tsk tsk. I mean, what kind of person is she when she is not even tweetting us, like, every time that we think she should, right? This is real proof that she is a despicable, totally insensitive, person, you're right. Because, unless she tweets about it, she doesn't care, of course. How could I forget? That's where true deepness lies, you guys. No doubt.

Article: Mariah Carey Q&A: Visions of (unconditional) love (63,390) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Fantastic article, thought provoking questions, and for all the accusations she faces about not acknowledging where her voice is at. She's very transparent here. Some days are better than others. It's an honest answer.
