Absolutely a great interview. This happens when interviewers are well prepared, do their research prior to meeting the artist and really ask great questions, like in this case. I feel this has been one of the best interviews lately when they let Mariah focus on the music rather than on her dresses. I think Chris did a fantastic job. You can almost feel how comfortable she was talking about the music without losing her unique sense of humor. That really came through to me. I was hoping for it not to end. Fantastic .

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed too. Given the nature of the attack, and as Andrew mentioned, the award she recently received, it would not have been hard for her to put out a tweet. On that note, I'd like to send love and well-wishes to the US users of this board. My heart has been breaking for the victims, their families and your country since it happened.

You should definitely move on. No sense in ranting and complaining about missing the Mariah from the 90's. That Mariah was gone a long time ago. I love 90's Mariah and 2016 Mariah. No matter how she is today you should be grateful she's still here with us. We've lost so many legends I could never even think what it would be like if we lost her. So you should really get over yourself. No one's forcing you to be a fan.

Well many of us feel Mariah has been on an extended tangent. Maybe a sobering event like Orlando means she and her team will rethink some of the superficial frolicking for her reality show. But whatever the reason she hasn't addressed the situation to your liking, it is her personal choice to speak on it or not. As for that children's day picture, it was already posted early Sunday morning probably before all the news of Orlando had even set in on social media.

Maybe Mariah has no words (63,385)
by RibbonB from USA

I did read that she expressed her sorrow this morning on a radio interview. Last I looked Adele, Beyoncé and even Lee Daniels also have not tweeted anything about the Orlando incident. Both Adele and Beyoncé have huge gay fan bases and Lee is an openly gay man, but who knows their reasoning or what they may be feeling now. Do people want Mishka to make some silly tweet on Mariah's behalf that would further complicate things? Emotions are high, but it seems like some people are misplacing their anger towards public figures. I'm sure all their fears and paranoia, if any, are heightened by all of this, what with someone getting shot at a fan meet and greet, bombings all over the world and now another nut job, committing a terrorist act. More famous people may go into isolation, or regroup to better handle interacting with fans in this changing world. That might include public interactions and also on social media.

I don't like the new Mariah (63,384)
by BIGGEST MC FAN from UNITED STATES

Mariah doesn't seem very passionate about her music anymore because it doesn't show. She is a real diva these days (it's not an act), and she lives in her own glitter world. So yeah, I think I finally have come to terms with not liking the new Mariah anymore. I'll continue listening to her pre-1999 music and TEOM but I don't think I can stan her anymore. I hope she makes good music (for reference, I thought all her music released after Butterfly except TEOM and a few singles were very bad) in the future that can make me a fan again. Until then, bye guys.

That was a beautiful post Mimi. I applaud you for your approach and open mind. I am not sure what you feel about Mariah not showing support for the LGBT community at this time (sorry if I've missed it), but everything in your post was spot on. I do love Mariah but I am definitely disappointed. It seems she only pours out her support during presidential campaigns or when a celebrity passes away. Especially in light of being recognised as an ally so recently and the beautiful interview she had with the gay lamb, I would have expected her to be one of the first people to show support. Take notes Mariah. Sometimes you're being political simply by not saying anything.

No excuse (63,382)

I know you all love Mariah but do you understand how ridiculous you sound to defend someone who was just given a GLAAD award for being a gay advocate but yet didn't say shit about the biggest massacre to happen to the gays in the US and also the biggest mass shooting in the US as well? The people who created that petition against her for receiving the award are certainly looking right right now. This isn't an event that just slips your mind unless you really do live on your own planet. It's all over the news, social media, and the main topic of everyone's conversations in the USA. The country is in an uproar. I don't care if Mariah is in Vegas crying about the tragedy. Perception is treated as reality, and if she says nothing about this even though she posts on social media several times a week, it will make her look insensitive and self-absorbed. Now speaking out about a tragedy is "too political" for Mariah to want to talk about? Please. That's just reaching. There's nothing political about showing common decency. I also have less respect for the Bulochnikovs because they are the ones who are supposed to cover her ass when it comes to social media and Stella has ignored numerous comments on her Instagram urging her to post something. Not a good look at all from the "tireless gay advocate" that you all allege she is.

The real Mariah Carey, gone forever? (63,378)
by Natalia from Italy
| |
|
|
The Mariah Carey that we all grew to love through the years, is gone forever. She is no longer that caring, loving person, that she used to be. What happened to her to cause this? That is the question. She used to love her fans, and make great efforts to reach out to us. She used to be passionate about her music. This has all changed. Now it's all about keeping up appearances. The whole diva and catty immature act has gone way too far. She is a grown woman in her mid 40's acting like a teenager. She has no control over her own social media. The Mariah of the 90's and early 2000's would have loved to connect with her fans this way and would have done it quite often I believe. Then this whole horrible situation of over 50 people being massacred because they were of a certain sexual nature, and she says nothing? That is not the Mariah that I have grown to love. She should have said something, anything. Does she even care anymore about anything? It surely doesn't seem like it. The Mariah we knew is gone forever. I have no idea who this new person is anymore and it's breaking my heart.

You just always have to squeeze in an unnecessary insult towards her don't you? I'm starting to think you're jealous of her "tits" and "clown makeup". Mad that she showed love to her children on "World's Children Day". Get over yourself dude. I'm now starting to doubt [...] you even really care about what happened, you're more focus on who tweeted about it than what's most important, the actual victims. Smh.

Get your facts straight before you call it an act of a "Muslim extremist" and "terrorism". The guy who mercilessly hunted down people at the club that night was in no way a proper Muslim let alone an extremist. He was gay himself and he was psychologically disturbed from a very young age. He was an abusive husband, he was thrown out of the same gay club that he cause the massacre in several times because he would get drunk and become unruly. He was a frequent member of Pulse and tried to initiate dates on famous gay dating apps. Also he didn't practice Islam. This has been said multiple times by his own family members and if he was such a great Muslim, he wouldn't be out shooting innocent people during Ramadan at a time when he was supposed to have his meal and offer his prayers before the fast time starts. Moreover he claimed he is a member of ISIS and Nusra (who for your information are rival parties) and then went on to pledge allegiance to Hezbollah who is rivals with both ISIS and Nusra. I feel tremendously bad for the innocent people who lost their lives and were taken away before their time by a deranged psychopath and my heart goes out to the family members who lost their loved ones. It doesn't matter if they are gay or straight, they are first and foremost human beings and no one has the right to take their lives. I won't speculate why Mariah didn't talk about it, it's her choice, but don't just make up something that colors another religion and shelve it as a "political problem due to terrorism". A white Christian was planning to blow up the gay pride parade too, was he labelled a Christian extremist or a terrorist? No, he was chalked up as a psychopath. Know your facts before you make up excuses. It's one thing to defend Mariah, it's completely different thing to just pull out excuses from your head. I'm sorry for the rant but in 2016, I am sick of the way people will believe everything the media says and then blame the Muslims, the blacks, the Mexicans, the gays and what not.

Orlando (63,374)
by Manny from U.S.

I find it [censored] and [censored] to target Mariah because she didn't post something about Orlando. Mariah tends to avoid anything too political. When she went to Israel, she kept saying she was just a singer not a politician. It has to do with Muslim extremists and "terrorism" also. I am gay and I was not bothered by her silence. Sometimes she posts things later. The arguments by some people here is that Mariah doesn't care. Maybe you guys are the ones that don't care for her. All of a sudden Mariah is an evil witch with no feelings. [censored] I don't understand why some people keep repeating the same old negative things on her. It's like your driving yourselves to insanity. Go find a hobby [censored]. Mariah I love you still. You're still my "hero".

Sorry, but no lol no way. The whole Western world is in shock and mourning and Mariah, recent winner of the GLAAD award (who, when I pointed out the award didn't make any sense as she has never been any sort of advocate for LGBT people, had many of you jumping to her defense) chose to post a picture of herself in (what can only be described as) clown make-up with her children for "National Children's Day". If she'd posted nothing at all I would probably have wondered why. But posting that picture for that reason is at best insensitive, and at worst, [censored] insulting. Happy Children's Day to all the parents who lost their son or daughter in a bloodbath? Mariah is on another planet at the moment. And you're up their on a vay-cay with her telling how pretty her dresses are.

Exactly Giovanni. It's one thing to be curious or maybe even a little disappointed that she didn't tweet, but implying that it must mean she doesn't care or isn't moved by the tragedy is absurd. I also find it a bit selfish and twisted that someone would use this tragedy as an agenda to try and prove that Mariah doesn't care about the gay community or gay issues. Where were these people when Mariah tweeted her support for the gay marriage bill being passed successfully and when she actually hit the gay clubs to celebrate with B Scott? *crickets*

Obsessed Cahill Remix (63,369)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

I was listening to this remix of "Obsessed" yet again and it's my favorite version, well this and the original version. This song was great. Quite unlike MC's other songs and perfect song of the summer. It would have been a bigger hit had L.A. not pulled the plug on it. This song made Mariah cool to the younger audiences and every one was blasting this. Yet another "lost opportunity", "empower your diss records", "empower your girls", "live love diss", "I still don't know him".

I agree, her lambs are actually harsh. Navy/Beehive stick by Bey and RiRi through imperfection and storms. The lambs basically tear her apart. If she reads this site she's probably heartbroken. Lambs you do realize she could retire and stay home with her children and "sham" publicity stunt husband to be and never be heard from again? Be thankful.

She shouldn't be expected to tweet about every tragic event that happens in the world. And although what took place was very sad and horrible, Mariah shouldn't be looked at as a bad person just because she hasn't acknowledged it. She's always constantly being attacked for something. First of all Licia, your explanation of "Crapfinity", I'm bowing down. Hilarious. Secondly don't bother with Queen/King/Empress Lambassador. Most of what they write is senseless and they'll pick bits and pieces from each post and then try to make it into something completely different to show what a big lamb they are and how they understand Mariah and we "lessers" don't and we'll get slapped by Mariah.

Thank you Andrew. Very true and kind words. Unfortunately, two of my friends were victims and in critical condition at the moment. Our prayers have been going out for them and their families, as well as the rest of the victims. Maybe I'm being too dramatic, but this indeed, is a huge deal in our community. Regardless if it was an act of terror or just simply hate, we should not have to now live in fear of getting killed just for being who we are. I thought we've come a long way and now this. And it truly sucks that instead of paying attention to what really is going on, the media keeps focusing on the election. Why am I seeing the faces of Trump, Clinton and Obama on every channel and not the families of those killed or maybe some tribute to their lives. I get that these people are the faces of this country, so no disrespect, but can we focus on what's more important please? And just to add, I am saddened that out of all celebrities, especially the ones that have a clip or pics out every day, showing everything from t*ts to shade, hasn't even shown one second of anything regarding the Orlando shooting. So disappointing, Mariah.
