Number ones and ... number twos? (107,801) by Randy from USA
I've come out of hibernation to share some interesting chart statistics with you. If you kept reading the chart statistics from the most recent article, Billboard compiled the longest running number one and number two pairings.

13 weeks: No. 1, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Mariah Carey / No. 2, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," Brenda Lee (2019-24)

11 weeks: No. 1: "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," Shaboozey / No. 2, "I Had Some Help," Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen (2024)

11 weeks: No. 1, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men / No. 2, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)," Whitney Houston (1995-96)

10 weeks: No. 1, "Lose Yourself," Eminem / No. 2, "Work It," Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott* (2002-03)

9 weeks: No. 1, "Old Town Road," Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus / No. 2, "Bad Guy," Billie Eilish (2019)

9 weeks: No. 1, "Hello," Adele / No. 2, "Sorry," Justin Bieber (2015-16)

9 weeks: No. 1, "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)," Los Del Rio / No. 2, "I Love You Always Forever," Donna Lewis* (1996)

9 weeks: No. 1, "Physical," Olivia Newton-John / No. 2, "Waiting for a Girl Like You," Foreigner* (1981-82)

Ya'll know I am obsessed with number twos, Ms. Carey having four of her own Can't Let Go, Endless Love, Loverboy and Shake It Off.

I love that Whitney was able to do a week at number one and then eleven at number two as currently Exhale is my favorite song by her.

Back to my cave.

Next week's race is tight (107,800) by Shezz from Pk
Brenda rebounded to number 1 giving Mariah only 1 week in the middle of her 3 week reign last season but Brenda and the label heavily promoted it for the anniversary. But yes, you're right, Mariah will reign supreme this time.

Next week's race is tight (107,799) by Bobby A from United States
There weren't a lot of huge November album releases this year like last year. So, that is probably helping AIW score really big with streams and radio airplay. I think she will be on top at least through the second week of January.

Next week's race is tight (107,798) by Edward from USA
When Brenda hit number one last year, it was only for the first two weeks. As Christmas Day gets closer, Mariah's numbers are way stronger than Brenda's. I'm pretty sure Mariah will stay at the top for a third week, and most likely a fourth week as well.

Talk of the Charts has Mariah at number 1 with a tight 5 point lead over Brenda Lee for next week in its midweek prediction (chart dated 28th December with tracking week ending on 19th December). Let's hope she holds on for a 3rd week at #1. She could possibly have a 4th week as well for the tracking week ending 26th December.

If all goes her way, she could get her longest number 1 title back next year - this time solo.

Merry Christmas (107,796) by Bobby A from United States
Merry Christmas has an impressive list of musicians who played on the album. No wonder Merry Christmas has such a polished sound and production. MC was able to duplicate the polished sound and production slightly on Butterfly. Anyway, I am sure Tommy called each one personally to ask if they would be part of Mariah's Christmas album. His expertise and impressive business sense helped Merry Christmas to become one of the greatest Christmas albums of all time.

Thanks for that, she sounds amazing there, so fluid and deep. Her voice was so textured in those days.

I think I'll get a cheap disc drive for my laptop or I've got an old iMac that won't connect to the internet but I guess I could put the file on a stick.

I hope so Edward - fingers crossed. Though she is played much more globally, US Spotify daily charts has her on number 5 and Brenda Lee at 1 so the week after could get tough. She is number 1 on iTunes though. So she has 2 weeks confirmed this year then the next 2 it seems might be more of a battle. The NFL Netflix performance will help her for sure.

I hope she gets well soon and has a good last concert - pity she had to cancel 3.

I would say MC has saved the music industry this year. In 2024, many albums and singles have been quite boring and the same old formula from back in the late 2000s.

Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is the most-streamed holiday song of all time and officially the first holiday song to break 2 billion streams. Congratulations, Mariah. The way I see it, Mariah will stay on top until the end of the year.

Rare acapella from 1990 (107,787) by MC1989 from Spain
A snippet of a 1990 interview with Brenda K. Starr has just resurfaced and it is circulating on social media. It is simply thrilling to hear anything from this golden age of Mariah, and listening to this piece of Vision Of Love acapella, one feels that her voice was truly incomparable, a unique and unmatched tone. You can hear it's vocal warmth, depth and beauty, and you can feel her desire to prove her worth as a vocalist and songwriter to the world.

This happens to be one of my favorite songs and in my opinion on par with Fantasy, Heartbreaker, Fantasy and Honey as a first single choice. Also, for me, the Cameo version is superior to the Firecracker version and y'all know I love Da Brat and the remix features. And don't even get me started on the Morales remixes. Such a fun and sexy masterpiece. We need another 80s inspired album, stat.

Do you still have a DVD player? Most DVD players will play a CD. Also, you can record the CD to a USB or SD card if you have one of those late 2000s Singing Karaoke players and then make a mp3 file on your computer.

What is MC saying at the beginning of Loverboy before she says Mimi's got a new boyfriend? Is it Buro? I have always thought Buro was another nickname for Brat. Or is Buro Trey's nickname?
