There is nothing Mariah Carey loves more than a surprise gift box. And one that makes her feel regal? Forget about it. The singer properly freaks out in an unboxing video for her unexpected royal prezzie from Netflix in a clip posted on Tuesday morning.
"Look at this. It's The Crown," Carey says while enthusiastically knocking on the big red box the streamer sent to celebrate the just-released fourth season of their royal drama.
The clip begins with Carey staring at the quote on the inside of the box from late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (portrayed by X-Files star Gillian Anderson in the show): "Don't follow the crowd, let the crowd follow you."
She then excitedly shows off a note addressed to her inside the package, marveling, "look at the attention to detail", while holding up a mock period-appropriate Italian newspaper headline about Prince Charles and Lady Diana.
She also shared the contents of the note, which describes the lengths the series goes to dial in authenticity in its storytelling, down to the inclusion of a delicious bottle of blended scotch whiskey that was a Thatcher favorite.
"This is real. This is a moment, this is what they send," she enthuses, breaking into her best British accent to read the note before showing off the bottle of booze and accompanying fancy carafe.
"Listen, I don't know what to say. If you haven't watched The Crown you are missing out," she concludes, noting that she never hypes things like this but is just so excited to check out the new season.
