Christmas shows (107,634)

I agree with the people that feels she seems stiff, and I'm too surprised she uses prerecorded vocals so much, I thought her voice was in god condition, and the notes she actually sings live sounds good. It seems like she is affraid to go in higher register live these days. The constant looking at the monitors I really don't know why, she didn't do this until two years ago. As I have said before, I think she used Ozempic a year ago, and I came with a controversial theory that that medicine made her depressed, as is a common side effect to Ozempic. What Ozempic also can do, is causing temporarily dementia, I know it's far fetched, but maybe Mariah has a hard time remembering her own lyrics. Or it's just that her singing is so cut and paste these days it is to remember where she lip synchs and not.

Christmas tour 2024 (107,633)

It's a shame you had to move several states away. You can always come back to Atlanta, you do have a friend in me here Robert-Anthony. I'm old so I don't party hard anymore but I am still down for some fun. I have lived in Texas and in no way would I ever go back. It's not bad at all, it's just for me. Not my people. Not my landscape. I hope you find your tribe wherever you end up. I wish you the best with your health and upcoming decisions.

Brandon and Edward, you both got me thinking as to why MC is so stiff on stage and relies heavily on the monitors and lip syncing lately. Her voice and hand movements were so interconnected together. With both of them working together, we got a more engaged MC who commanded the stage so effortlessly. Just my two scents as I contemplate if I am going to end my teaching career after 19 years at the end of May 2025. My health is starting to decline from worrying about all that I have to do on a daily basis and from just trying to live on a Texas teacher's salary. I left Atlanta, Georgia a year ago because I just had grown disappointed in how tough it was for me just fitting in after being there so long. So, I went back to Texas because I believed the myth that everything is bigger and better in Texas. What a huge lie the natives sell the newcomers. So, I can completely understand how MC feels when contributing factors can change how you approach something that you once loved to do.

Celebrity endorsements (107,632)
by John from USA
| |
|
|
According to the Federal Election Commission, there is no law banning candidates from paying for endorsements. Federal candidates are legally required to disclose all payments, including those made in exchange for endorsements. The Federal Election Campaign Act requires campaigns for federal office to file regular reports on where their money comes from and where it goes. That report has to include the name and address of any "person to whom an expenditure in excess of $200 is made together with the date, amount, and purpose of such expenditure." Campaigns" must provide a "purpose of disbursement" that describes the nature of the transaction, for any money disbursed. So paying for an endorsement isn't illegal, but trying to hide that payment could get a candidate in trouble. Oprah denied getting paid for her endorsement.

Lucky for all of you, it's not your choice at all. Everyone can endorse anyone as long as it's not illegal. Also, people that have a platform and decide to do something good for others with it always have my respect. Even when others disagree with it. This is not an argument. I know better now. We can agree to disagree and keep it moving. Having said all that, I do hope Mariah and any celebrity does what they want with their name, platform and resources in any election they choose. This is still America, right?

Your love for Mariah is really pouring out here. I guess as long as she's aligned with your party there's no problem. I would bet that if she was endorsing your candidate this would not be the tone or message. Mariah would be ashamed of y'all. But people are uninformed and stupid.

Celebrities should stop being condescending and assuming people are uninformed and stupid. They should stop acting as if they know what's best for us from their million-dollar mansions. Let people vote for whomever they choose, period. They should cast their votes and shut up.

I'm so glad Mariah didn't sell her soul for 1 million dollars to endorse a terrible candidate.
Imagine, being a mega-milliionaire or billionaire actor, singer, or media mogul, and yet still find it acceptable to deceive the American voters, just for what is small chump change for them.

You know what's weird? I saw some parts of the show where she was singing (same ol shtick-sing a slow intro then when the band comes in, the backtrack comes in). But she did have a twinkle in her eyes that wasn't there in Vegas.

Edward, I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately it's more of the same from what I've seen too. Constant staring at the monitors, moving extra stiff and rigid and an over reliance on lip syncing. I asked the question to see if anyone else noticed it like me. I know there are some fans that don't care and just want to see her but I'm not moved from what I see. Also I prefer the production and staging from last year to this years shows.

I wasn't going to comment but since you asked, I expected Mariah to go all out with the production, especially with the Merry Christmas celebrating its 30th anniversary. Unfortunately, it feels like more of the same to me. Mariah isn't glancing at the monitors because she's forgotten any lyrics, she's watching for her lipping cues. She appears dazed, and her platform heels are so high she can barely take a step. For a festive show, the energy is severely lacking. I'm not impressed at all. On a positive note, she seems to have added a woman to her dance crew, finally.

Most of the album of year nominees did one thing to get nominated this year. They stepped out of their comfort zone and delivered albums that had the industry talking about their work of art. Beyonce might just win next year, but Charli xcx or Taylor Swift may take it home.

MC looks gorgeous. She sounds good even though it's obvious it is a backing track on some songs. I believe she is saving her voice for when she gets back into the studio in early 2025. I just want Bizness Boi, H.E.R., and Nova Wav collaborations. Mary J. Blige got to them first for her new album.

I have seen some clips on YouTube. Mariah looks great, but my sense is that the show is almost entirely pre-recorded like the recent Vegas residency shows, even the intermission with her children. Maybe this is just the norm now for most major artists?

by Shezz from Pk

Everyone's pretty quiet about the Christmas shows. I've not seen too many videos but she seems to be singing live a whole lot more than what she did this past year from the few that I have seen. I like that she's ditched the nutcracker body suit for her famous Santa suit. The sets again don't look as festive as they have been in the past though - she needs the big Christmas trees back again. So happy she's singing again (not completely of course but this is still great).
