Let's Roc and Roe! Mariah Carey's twins, Moroccan and Monroe, adorably joined their mom onstage at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. The 12-year-olds, whom Carey shares with her ex-husband Nick Cannon, presented the singer with the Chart Achievement Award for her timeless hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You".
"Congratulations, Mom!" Moroccan and Monroe cheered as they handed Carey the special trophy. The "Emotions" singer, 54, replied, "Thank you, babies! Thank you so much. I couldn't ask for better presenters than Roc and Roe." The twins coordinated their looks, wearing white and red puffer jackets, and they beamed as Carey accepted the honor.
"Billboard has been an integral part of my life for a very long time now," the Queen of Christmas told the audience. "Even though I don't acknowledge time, I kind of have to admit that some of my most memorable times in my career are connected to Billboard and the BBMAs."
She continued, "One thing I really have to say that I'm really grateful for is the fact that my fans have been here with me through the hits, through the misses, No. 1s and the Bubbling Unders (songs that have not yet charted on the Billboard Hot 100)." Carey said her classic 1994 song "changed" her entire life and she never could have imagined that she would get such a special award when she wrote it.
"I just want to say thank you to everyone who has allowed this song to be part of their holiday soundtrack each year," she said. "I'm so honored to be receiving this award for this little song's chart achievement, but the greatest achievement for me is being here with all of you and feeling the love that only music can generate."
The pop diva, who wore a white dress with fuzzy cuffs and matching boots, then leaned forward to let her son and daughter give her a kiss on each cheek.
Earlier in the show, Carey performed "All I Want for Christmas Is You", which peaked at No. 6 the year it was released but has topped the Billboard Hot 100 annually since 2019 thanks to the advent of streaming. The festive track has also helped the superstar log a record 91 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 overall.
This isn't the first time Carey has shared the stage with her offspring. She and Monroe sang a duet during a sold-out holiday concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday, and Moroccan played drums. The Songbird Supreme has been extremely supportive of her kids' musical talents.
"I love it. I love seeing them stepping into this performance space, this music space, and the fact that they're eager to do it, that's on them," she told "Access" last week. "I never say, ‘You guys gotta do this,' you know? It's whatever they want to do, and they're rehearsing for it and going for it and really working hard, so that's impressive to me."
