In 1994, I watched the Top 40 on BBC, when Mariah's latest single "Without You" entered the charts at number 1. The videoclip for this single wasn't finished, so they only played the song for 5 seconds. Those 5 seconds changed my life. The next day I bought the CD-Single and I was hooked.
Of course I knew who Mariah was, I already owned the CD-Single of "Hero" and I liked MTV Unplugged. But the song "Without You" was really special to me. The next years I bought everything Mariah had released: albums, singles, videos, songbooks and many more. My collection grew up to 1500 items.
In 1998 I was following a course how to make websites. I've studied biology, but I couldn't find a job I liked, so I decided to do something new. The Internet was new and I really liked it, so why not start a career in making websites?
One day we had to build a website on our own. There was no question what the subject would be: Mariah Carey. The first website was very simple, but it still got many followers (in a time when there was no Google, Facebook and Twitter). Over the years, the website grew and grew.
This year, the Mariah Carey Archives celebrates its 20th anniversary. I never imagined that I would keep this website running for such a long time. It has become a major part of my life, I spend at least 1 hour every day updating my website (that's 7,300 hours or 304 days). There are 14,405 news articles on my website, and over 80,000 posts on my messageboard.

Wow 20 years and all alone doing all the posts? I found you around 2005 when TEOM was making headlines. MCArchives and MariahDaily was my go to. I was obsessed with the updates. MCA is still up and not all can imagine and appreciate the time and effort you have poured into this.
