Fest suggestions to Mariah (70,676)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I won't regurgitate what everybody has already stated concisely and precisely. These are a few suggestions to Mariah 1. Take a break from the spotlight for a year or so, you've already made enough headlines for the wrong reasons. Let us miss you, be elusive. 2. Get Mariah's Word off the air, it's not a good docu-series but it isn't good reality either. 3. Go back to that place where you had nature and horses around you while you wrote those great songs on a notepad. 4. Forget about touring for now, and focus on your babies, on your mother, on your music. 5. Work on your voice and comeback with great music. Great music is great regardless of chart position. 6. Lay off the booze, it has clearly affected your voice greatly, but there's still hope. Work with a vocal coach. 7. Get rid of Stella, even though she comes across as if she were always rooting for you, she and her foul mouth are about to get you in trouble because she lacks professionalism. 8. Take this NYE performance as a sign for you to humble yourself and get real professionals in control of those things you don't know We can't pretend this is an isolated incident, it has happened many times before at different magnitudes, but it has. The question would be, why does it keep happening?

I agree. I don't believe she planned to lip the whole thing. I expected there to be some. I was just flabbergasted by her not stopping and either having someone fix the issue or try to sing what she could. It made me sad to see her so defeated, but it pissed me off that she gave up so easily. They are even handling the press surrounding this wrong in my opinion.

Something in the buttermilk ain't clean (70,673)
by Marissa from USA

The more I watch the clip, the more confused I get about this performance. If she couldn't hear herself/the monitors weren't on, how was she able to occasionally sing snippets of her songs and how were the dancers able to be on point with all of their dance moves? Don't get me wrong, clearly something went wrong, but I do think a large part of it was her just being too afraid to sing. The few parts that she did sing she didn't even sound bad, so she might has well have just kept going. If she's at the point where she doesn't feel secure enough to sing 3 measly songs without backing tracks, her voice overall is in horrible shape and she needs to come to terms with it, do something or stop performing. I can understand having some backing tracks for the Vegas show because she's performing 18 songs and does need to preserve her voice, but damn. If you're at the point where you can't even play it off anymore and wing it, you have no business performing. Take on the gigs that you're prepared to handle, not just what will get you attention and a check. Stop performing songs that require you to be the vocal acrobat that you once were and take it easy. It's okay to switch out your popular, but complex songs for songs that are easier to sing. Chasing who you once were is only going to get you embarrassed. You want to be who you once were but don't want to put in the effort that you once did. If you want to compete with the Mariah of '95, you're gonna have to put the drinks down, record songs that you can actually sing live, take multiple days vocal rest, get a vocal coach and attend sound checks. Again, put in the effort or retire. Mariah, I'd rather you just admit that the thrill is gone when it comes to your passion for music and excellence and just have a seat. You still have your "music is my life" script but your actions are speaking louder than words at this point.

Poor thing (70,671)
by Sasha from Nomansland
| |
|
|
Once again, she had everything in her hands since day one to build an empire. Just because she's unable to put herself in question and evolve and accept that she's a simple mortal like everyone, that she's getting old and change, she prefers wandering in her fake world. I think she's (in purpose) so disconnecting to reality that she doesnt know what's real or what's not. Life has just became a game and an endless party because she's lost and doesnt know what to do with herself. I may sound harsh and rude but I can't feel pity for her anymore.

Ughh I repeat myself but they look like mother and son. It's disgusting. If Mariah was still hot like in 2008 I could understand but how in hell a young and cute guy could possibly be interested in a 46 years old dressing like a drag queen and unable to sing her own song live? The power of money I guess.

Lol. I also wondered why my original message was censored. Trust me there was absolutely no foul language. I don't need to curse to get my point across what he censored was the "and" sign (&). Eric I dunno what passive aggressive game you've begun playing but I don't do passive aggression. If you don't want me on [...] message board just say so afterall it's already rundown with [censored], [censored] and [censored] claiming to be Mariah Carey fans. Mcarchives.com doesn't validate my fandom. I didn't get permission from you to be a Mariah Carey fan, that happened way (all caps) before I discovered your site, and it wasn't even my number one go to site then. That was Mariah Buzz and the Mariah Network.

This is so frustrating (70,667)
by automatic_prince from Germany

Hi everyone. I read this amazing board often but this is only my second time posting here. And as I'm typing this I realize that I only seem to feel the need to post here when something tragic happens. I think the last time I posted here was after her disastrous Elusive Chanteuse Show in Tokyo. I couldn't believe it was happening back then and neither can I right now. I guess I just need to feel the warmth and the cuddles from the Lambily to get through this fiasco. So thanks for being here. I mean this is really bad. Most of my feelings have already been expressed by other members on this board so I don't need to go into detail about what needs to change in Mariah's career. I'm just going to end on a more superficial note and point out that in opinion she looked absolutely fantastic. Possibly her best look in the last one or two years. That's why it's even more frustrating. It could have been perfect and we could have had an amazing performance to look back at. Well it was not meant to be... again.

But the thing with Patti and other singers that suffered a related mishap, they handled it like a pro. It could've been better if she approached it differently, like cut the music and say in front of millions of people that there is a problem and sincerely apologize so that she didn't get huge criticism like this. But the damage has been done and I just hope she sees this incident as an opportunity to do better next time and reflect from it. However, I just heard that this can be possibly an inside job for the sake of Mariah's World. If that's true, Shawn, Brett, Lee should help Mariah to get rid of Stella because this is not shaping up well (see Stella's Billboard article), just the fact that Mariah is making headlines all in a bad way. And please help her in her mental health, because honestly if she's in the right state of mind, all of this bs would not have happened. She's already 46, she should know better because like what she said it will always comes down to her. Take responsibility for your actions like an adult and keep in mind that work ethic is everything whether you're a legend or not. One thing that will help this nightmare to diminish is to do a Facebook Live and sing a song, straight up live, because we all know that's the whole point of why people is going nuts about this.

The Truth (70,665)
by JAXGH from United States
| |
|
|
Mariah knows she will sound bad if she can't hear herself. All singers absolutely loathe not being able to hear themselves because they have no judgement if they're doing well or not, if they're in tune, or sounding flat. She didn't risk it, so she just didn't even sing. Because if she started to sing (without hearing herself), she'll sound obviously relatively bad and that will give haters more power to say "she can't sing anymore". She was just mortified through out the whole thing, she messed up the intro and that probably stuck in her mind and probably already embarrassed (her mouth didn't match Auld Lang Syne). It was a major giveaway. Even the way she talked, you can tell she has no judgement, she just sounded like she's mumbling words. I still think she could've been like "Stop. Stop I can not hear myself." Apologize to the audience, have a diva moment whatever, until she can hear it. Screw the time frame they have for commercials, she's already screwed over by the tech team, but she also screwed the tech team over. All these people are probably pissed at her. Mariah is the only one that didn't attend the tech rehearsal, everybody else came so everybody else's performance went smoothly, except hers. Everybody's ear piece was working, except hers. See a pattern? The tech team devote the time of day to rehearse despite it being a holiday and being away from family but Mariah's lazy ass decided not to even bother and send a double to rehearse for her (****** ridiculous, maybe this double should've been the one that performed lmao). That's what happens when you think you're too "good" for rehearsals and waste people's time. They start to dislike you and let you suffer for it. The in-ears not working is no incident, they purposely gave her a broken one. Mariah may be the biggest "star" there but that gives her no reason to be unprofessional. Even new comers like Fifth Harmony came to rehearse and took their performance very seriously. It's a shame.

MW episode 4: Mimi L review (70,663)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
1) Festivities on the jet. They are playing "Oh Santa". I almost forgot how festive the song was. 2) Lee Daniels is here. They are discussing about their difficult past and how they have both been victims to predators and how they mask if differently, with Mariah using her diva antics as a self defense. Good for him to give a little background for people to understand Mariah's attitude a little better. 3) Molly is setting up an Easter party for the kids and she'll be the Easter Bunny. Mariah looks like a million bucks at the party. Cute moment with Dembabies. 4) Thirsty Tanaka is back practicing how to get out of the anniversary cake and spray champagne while doing a hip thrust. He is also talking about how MC opened up to him back in 2006 and told him to be more than a dancer and invited him back to her house to listen to her then unreleased music. Too many lies detected. Girl bye. 5) Mariah prank calling Molly, as Pamela, to order Mozzarella Sticks. 6) Mariah is at the party now, Tanaka is pulling his stripper moves. Tanaka running his hand through Mariah's thighs, Mariah pouring a glass of bubbly on Tanaka, while dude ripples away. 7) Anthony is talking about how he and everyone else in the room is noticing Tanaka is all over Mariah flirting away and Anthony is like it's awkward because she is engaged. Honestly I don't know what they wished to achieve using this story line. It makes Mariah look bad. Also awkward is Mishka is hanging around drunk and occasionally shirt less adults watching this sexual tension go down. Oh wait the other children including Dembabies are there too. Weird. 8) Stella is pissed because Molly is playing with the cake Tanaka came out off. Stella is saying she wants to "wring her neck" because she isn't paying her to fool around. So rude. You are out there partying along with everyone else so why can't she do the same? 9) Stella's World moment where she is showing how her life is after the show. She has 2 sick children she needs to take care of after having Mariah do her duties. She goes on and on about the no glam side of being a single mommy while Mariah is just sitting in the back, because duh, you don't interrupt the real star. 10) Molly went to get a tattoo, for all of you that care. 11) Tanaka is happy he finally got his time with Mariah. 12) Back to Stella's World. Stella is going off on Molly and going on and on about having to take care of her sick kids with no help. Then why bring them on such a hectic tour? 13) Snippet of "Close My Eyes" while some fans talk about what Mariah and her music means to her. It was a sweet moment. They also showed the scene with the fan giving her the cross. 14) Another long Molly-Stella scene. Why is this even required? This girl is not even related to Mariah and we all know it's a staged storyline. 15) Stella kissing Mariah's behind. Next week's preview, Tanaka is getting uber touchy with Mariah. At one point he asks Mariah "Are you really going to marry this guy?" Mariah asks "Why?" He says "I just really want you to be happy." Tanaka get the eff out.

Barf indeed. Lord, ok save me the recap if this is all it was about. Now I am reading that his "ex" was throwing shade on social media, until she made her accounts private. She posted about Karma doing it's work re: the NYE performance and about watching their (M. and the hired stripper) house of cards built on Satan burn up, lol. Ugh, this whole reality thing has been a debacle and M looks to be carrying it into 2017. Sadly, I hope the ratings last night flopped like Stellars pre-boob job flap jack "bitties". Something needs to get M. to focus on what got her the fame, the voice.

I don't think she can sing the highnotes consistently anymore. She's been lipsynching the Emotions' end high notes since 1998. I think she may still be able to hit high notes but they are the quality or controllable enough to work in a song like Emotions. There is something wrong with her high notes.

by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Everything aside, I just hope Mariah is doing well right now. That whole incident was a major shock, you could tell she looked defeated and on the verge of tears. It still makes me cry to see one of the strongest women in show business look so helpless in front of such a huge live audience and an even bigger television audience. Mariah, wherever you are, just know this will pass, I would like you to take care of yourself first. Don't let this defeat you, instead take it like a motivation, take this as the fire you need to prove the world that you are second to none. As much as I criticize her, all the recent loss of legends we had has made me feel more protective of Mariah, and I would want her to be healthy and happy for a long time. I hope this backlash leads to something positive, where she either decides to shut haters down or just take time off, instead of something negative. My thoughts, prayers are with Mariah and her family, I love you and always will. You'll come back stronger than ever, just stop doubting yourself. Take some time to reevaluate your decisions and when I say take some time off, I mean alone, with your family. The lambily will always have your back.

Grammys tribute (70,657)
by Tyler from USA
| |
|
|
I think MC should participate in a GM tribute at the Grammys. She can sing "One More Try" or a song that fits her current voice. She has a lot to prove and she needs to remind the public of her talent. Which is the frustrating part because she has so much voice left but perception is shot. With that being said, I don't think my nerves can take another live performance. I still can't believe they couldn't stop the performance from airing on the West Coast. Something is so fishy.

NYE performance (70,656)
by Special K from USA
| |
|
|
Happy New Year everybody. These are my thoughts on what happened. It's clear Mariah couldn't hear. I also don't believe it was her plan to lip synch the whole performance. That is obvious because when the music was playing for Emotions the only prerecording we heard were the high notes. Mariah straight up told us they were playing the album version of WBT. I have mad respect that she gave us a heads up. That seems to get lost in the sauce. My problem with Mariah is how she handled the situation. Mariah has been in the game for 27 plus years. She of all people should understand that no matter what difficulties any singer/performer is facing the show must go on honey. How about cutting the music and singing acapella? Man she would have gotten mad respect for that. Mariah also had another opportunity to turn that mess around, well not completely but it would of helped. When the ball was getting ready to drop Gloria Estefan and Ryan Seacrest were on stage. Mariah appeared briefly then she left. Seriously? Man, Mariah could have stayed with Gloria and taken the opportunity to apologise and ring the New Year in graciously with the crowd. Sorry, but I'm glad this happened. Maybe now Mariah will take these live performances more seriously and I hope this hot mess has humbled her. Mariah can redeem herself. Her career isn't over and it will never be. She should take this epic fail as a learming opportunity to really focus on that voice and make her career about the voice again. The tour with Lionel Ritchie is a great venue to start over. Like Randy said, It would be nice if it's only Mariah and Big Jim on the stage period. No dancers, no butterflies, no DJ's, no breaks, no costumes changes.

Lol Mimi L. I thought the same things, good breakdown of the article. Did you watch MW last night? Can we get a synopsis of what happened? I did not watch. Also, how does Stellar convince herself that she is so professional in dealing with Mariah's old staff, but she hires a comic character in Molly just for the reality show? It's absurd. And Brett's "friend" vetting is horrendous. He invited a sycophant into Mariah's realm, when Randy very wisely kept her out of it. Brett throws Mariah out like meat to the wolves, although M. has a lot of wolf in her too, or she is a "changeling".

Why Stella needs to watch what she says (70,651)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|

So thanks to Stella's outburst, the headline on the MailOnline now reads: "Dick Clark Productions slams Mariah Carey's accusations of sabotage as 'frankly absurd' after diva's epic lip syncing meltdown she blamed on faulty earpiece". Most people on that site read the headline and the comments without bothering to read the article, so now it looks as though Mariah accused DC productions. Great work Stella.
