Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,822) (69,836) by B from USA
Mariah Carey touring North America with Lionel Richie starting in March (the month of my birth and Mariah's) I'll be there. I'm ordering my tickets Friday. Does anyone know if the tour will be stopping in Ohio? Not that it matters I drove from Ohio to Las Vegas to attend the second night of her residency.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,819) (69,835) by Marissa from USA
As much as I was surprised that Lionel Richie, of all people, is who she will be tour with, I am optimistic about it. Lionel Richie is a true legend, a class act, and someone that Mariah respects greatly. I truly hope and pray that Mariah being around one of her elders with such a solid career will be a positive influence on her and channel some of the Mariah of yesteryear. Lionel has been in this business for too long to put up with Mariah's constant lateness and other antics, so I can only hope that she will class it up and that he will take her under his wing and remind her of the importance of true artistry over chasing celebrity at all cost. I really hope that this works out.

Tour with Lionel Richie (69,834) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
This is another opportunity for Mariah to cash in on her back catalogue and to become acquainted with the A/C again. This is smart because being back at Sony allowed her to obtain her back catalogue. As she owns everything with Glitter and her Def Jam cataloge. Honestly getting back in graces with the older buyers this is a step in the right direction for the next era which tells me that her next album will feature a little something for all demographics.

MW episode 2: Mimi L review (69,833) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
(1) Again, Mariah looks flawless in every shot.
(2) That Bryan-Mariah dressing room rendezvous is as fake as it can get. Mariah didn't wear that outfit on the SSFT tour as far as I can remember. I think she first wore it at the Essence Music Festival. I almost want to bet it was shot during her time in Hawaii. I don't see the point. You can see they are flirting with each, is Mariah trying to imply she was emotionally unfaithful to James? How is that a good look?
(3) I'm still in the scene with Bryan and it's such an awkward scene. Plus if they met after so long where did the secret elaborate handshake come from? Did they invent it during TAOM and still remember it? Haha just an observation.
(4) Do they really have no content to keep running with a Molly Apple TV story line? Jeez. Let it go.
(5) Loved the dress rehearsal moment. Wish it was longer.
(6) Ugh Stella is back at the screen time hogging.
(7) Ok hold my orange juice, did Stella just say "a 12 year old is the best social media manager, because a 12 year old is who we're appealing too"? Really? Mariah freaking Carey's main fan base is 12 year old kids and she is trying to appeal to them? Fire this woman right now. I see it only took the second episode to introduce Mishka. Jeez Stella, this show is really about introducing yourself and your family to the audience isn't it?
(8) Another scene with Molly, now with Kris. How is this related to the docu-series. Is anyone really that silly to not figure out that Molly is just a hired actress?
(9) I know that the Tommy story and her "bad side" story might annoy some fans because they heard it before but I think it's good that they included it because the casual audience don't know much about her and this well probably help them understand her eccentric behavior a little more. For example how she probably struggles with trust issues and always be a diva so that no one can control her anymore and also why she refuses to be photographed from a particular side.
(10) "He's thirsty and I'mma quench his thirst." Haha Mary Anne I just can't. Seriously though someone should use this on Stella. Maybe Molly should attempt that.
(11) "I love Mariah almost more than Oxygen." Haha, I'm living for this dude's lines. "I hope she is late tonight."
(12) Loved the tour montage but I wish they used more footage.
(13) "All of this could have been avoided if someone would have thought about all of this before the tour started." You tell her Anthony.
(14) Stella sucking up to Mariah again. Empower your suck ups.
(15) Loved the scene with Roc and Roe and how Mariah explained that her childhood was rocky and that she will always be there for her babies.
(16) It's funny to see Stella talking about how people need to stop thinking they are the stars because only Mariah is the star, Stella girl, take your own advice. Zarina is sitting there like "Stella who are you kidding, girl?"

Well I guess that's why she rescheduled her Vegas dates.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,819) (69,831) by Licia from USA
I'd rather she be working on a new album than going on a new tour, but I'm not against it. When it comes to making money I can see why she's touring. Most artists nowadays are making more money touring than putting out albums. My other issue is would buying a ticket to this be worth it. I mean I love Lionel, but I've never had the desire to see him live. I'd probably leave after Mariah performances. Lol.

Through the rain special (69,830) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Still stands out to be one of my favorite MC's specials. As for the CB album, I think a lot of people have a problem with the vocals rather than the music and writing as in my opinion that album has some of MC's best writing as the album told a story.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,821) (69,829) by Malcolm from Asia
I think this tour will be a good exposure for the next album. If Mariah will only perform a few songs a night then it's okay because she can still write/record songs within that period. And like what RibbonB said, Mariah can learn a lot from Lionel, it'll be a fresh and great environment for her because she will be surrounded by a professional, mature and respectable artist.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,825) (69,828) by enwar00 from usa
That's exactly what I was thinking. I was surprised when I read Martyn's post before I even saw the news section that I Googled it to see if it was true. I guess in addition to the "12-year-olds" that Stella and her social media manager are marketing Mariah to right now (per Stella last night, not my words), they'll start marketing Mariah to adults and "grown folk" audiences next year too. Some of these people still buy albums and are loyal. I think this could be good. I would hope then a new album would come next to capitalize on even more people getting reacquainted to her. And yes I'm sure they'd sing Endless Love together. Rather than complaining, I'll be at the show in March. Also, maybe she won't be on stage in her underwear during that tour in front of those audiences, so that may please some people here. Then again, this is the same woman currently singing O Holy Night in a bathing suit.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,822) (69,827) by RibbonB from USA
Lol, she has 6 dancers too many especially since she herself is not a dancer. She might do well to pare her show down to her singing without all the hopping around behind her. And she can definitely lose being hauled onto stage on a couch, or settee, or divan.

Brazilian website criticizes Mariah's Team (69,826) by bliss! from Brazil
A famous Brazilian website called UOL wrote an article about how Mariah's team is censoring the press when interviewing her. Here are some of their advices when doing so:
- Questions about her personal life are prohibitted. The interview must be about Mariah's World, music, fashion and beauty.
- Mariah's World is a 8 episode docu-series, not a reality show.
- Do not ask her for a selfie or an autograph.
UOL's team also shared that they shouldn't ask her why she doesn't like her series to be called a reality show and what she doesn't like about this type of format. Details about the cancellation of her tour in Brazil - or any reference, such as when she intends to perform in the country again - have also been cut. The article is basically critizing the fact that is hard to ask questions to an artist regards a reality show, if they can't touch her personal life - even though they understand this type of question is usually censored. And that her team's demands make it hard to do a rich content interview with her. Here's the full article.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,819) (69,825) by Malcolm from Asia
I'm all for it as long as there will be an Endless Love duet. Looks like our girl is going hard with the promotions ahead of the new album. Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour + MAC Collaboration + Mariah's World + All The Hits with Lionel Richie + Vegas show + the scripted series that she mentioned in Variety = #1 album, well I hope it is.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,819) (69,824) by RibbonB from USA
I think it's interesting. She and Lionel are friends. Maybe she is trying to settle into being a legacy artist and pulling away from all the rap collaborations. Perhaps her next project will be more R&B/Pop/AC. She can learn about career longevity from touring with Lionel going into this next more mature phase of her career.

Richie the headliner and Carey "very special guest"? (69,823) by Leito from USA
"Very special guest" what does this even mean? The tour concludes in Fort Lauderdale (where I live). It'll be exciting to be able to see Mariah, again, in my neck of the woods. However, Lionel is doing his "All the hits" tour. Lionel has been singing since the 60's with the Commodores and has been successful as a solo artist since the 80's. He has a whole lot of hits. Will this mean Mariah will only perform a few songs and possibly duet "Endless Love" with Lionel? I can't see them both, performing all of their hits. I don't know about this. I need more details. I've seen Mariah 5x's and they all have been full/complete concert. The last being "Angels Advocate" tour. It's been almost 7 years. I'd be really dissapointed, if I waiting all this time, just to watch her perform 3 songs.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,819) (69,822) by Lila from United States
Random? Yeah. Simply because Mariah's not one to usually do these things and I love Lionel but he's not the first person that springs to mind if she did. At the same time, I honestly can't say I'm surprised. I personally think that, while Mariah isn't necessarily broke, she is in need of money. I know that many cling to the belief that Forbes could possibly know, estimate, or guess a person's net worth or earnings for any particular year but they can't. All that talk about demanding $50M and the emails, Stella saying outright that she was hired to make Mariah money, the tour sets being so basic, not being able to afford more than 6 dancers, nor an extra bus so the backup dancers and singers wouldn't have to squash up. Lionel Ritchie is still very successful in his field and very respected. This would be another avenue to bring in a sure paycheck.

Re: Mariah going on tour with Lionel Ritchie (69,819) (69,821) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I do. Plus apparently it's a 35 show thing with Mariah as a special guest, I don't know what that means for Mariah. Is she opening for him or what? Come on now Mimi, why waste so much time on the road when you can work on that new album? Stella stop turning Mariah completely into a touring artist. She is touring so much she barely had time to do anything else, including getting married.

Shining Through the Rain special (69,820) by Licia from USA
I know alot of people don't appreciate the Charmbracelet album like I do, but I was watching this special on YouTube and I never fully appreciated these performances on this special then as I do now. She sounded phenomenal. Everything was on point.

I find... (69,818) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Happy holidays to the entire Archives family wishing everyone health, wealth, and prosperity in the new year and beyond. Now onto the the message at hand I find that MC can not win for losing no matter what she does. The reason for this being that because for many years she spoiled us to know end and that we cannot get her at our leisure and the way we like we find things to complain about myself included at times. At this point do I care for everything MC says, does, and wears no but at the end of the day if she cannot please herself what's the point in doing something. She was so driven by pleasing everyone and working herself to no end we almost lost her in 01. All I am saying is she is not perfect and will never be accept that we still have her and celebrate her while we can, and if you feel you cannot relate nowadays you can always find another artist or entertainer you can relate to. Also you can always search the internet for the times and eras where you loved MC and reminisce for old time sake. For me it is about giving the roses to someone while they can still smell them, and not tear them down because it seems like the popular thing to do.

Mariah hasn't shaded anyone that didn't deserve it. J.Lo copied her sound (and stole her concepts) as did Ariana Grande.

Re: Variety and lawyers (69,795) (69,815) by RibbonB from USA
She likely talked to a lot of people, Lee Daniels, her lawyers, agents, husband etc. But she is talking in retrospect to where it went wrong. I mean Prince is gone and he didn't even have a will, but he had the forethought to know the internet was bad for musicians' profit. Just because he said go for it, doesn't mean he has all good ideas. Lol, but I am sure she doesn't think his motives for encouraging her are impure. But she might think her lawyers were motivated by money, not her best interests.

Re: Mariah and other female singers (69,813) (69,814) by Malcolm from Asia
Don't forget Lady Gaga and Rihanna. Maybe Mariah just doesn't really know them or listens to them? Mariah is old school so I guess that's why. I think if Selena or Ariana will go to her concert, she will eventually know them. They must do the first move for them to be noticed by her. Look at Tori Kelly, Fifth Harmony and Sam Smith, they reached her first and now Mariah knows them.

Mariah and other female singers (69,813) by Sheila from United States
Mariah seems to respect the older girls, Beyonce, Shania, Aretha, Janet, Katy Perry, she's cool with them. But the Arianna's, JoJo's etc it seems like she does not want to associate with them, or take photos with them. Not sure why.
