Re: Bodysuit stop lol (69,715) (69,741) by SM from Citizen of the World
I get it, it's cool, Beyoncè did it, but not for Christmas. Mariah please stop lol. The theme for the SSFT works but not all the time now. I can't deal go back to your gowns and I think last year her ensambles were the best for the Beacon shows.

Vocal rest (69,740) by SM from Citizen of the World
Does anyone remember Mariah would always be on vocal rest before performing and using flash cards to speak and humidifiers all over her room? I wonder if she still gets prepared like this?

Mariah and R. Kelly (69,739) by darrian liu from taiwan
Their duet was really sweet. I love how smooth Mariah's voice sounded and just how effortless her singing was in this song.

Mariah Carey and R. Kelly (69,738) by 123 from USA
Here is a the full video just for you Licia. The vocals were reserved, but all live. Very nice performance. I have been waiting for them to have a "real" collaboration. I always felt musically he was the male version of Mariah in regards to being a singer, songwriter, producer multi genre artist. I love all the love R. Kelly gave her at the end. I need a song with killer lyrics from the both of them. Work on the song until its magic. As Mariah would say, "Just a hopeless dream."

Re: The voice (69,708) (69,737) by 123 from USA
Hello Myles. Prior to Mariah's Vegas shows I would say you are 100% accurate. Her "live" voice were shot to hell. Since her Vegas shows she has actually started to care again and has started to belt again. Granted, she is only belting in her mid to lower upper mid range (Bb4-E5) and lips any belt above an E5 or even a lower belt she can clearly hit but avoids because its a vital point of the song live in Hero. She has slowly stripped away a few usual lipped parts on certain songs which is rare. Every once and a while she will go for an F5 but usually avoids it to avoid sounding rough or flat. I hope she continues to improve. Watch the "diaryofMariahcarey" channel on YouTube. They only post live moments of each show and have been tracking her progress. Here are some videos of her recent live range on her September Vegas shows, her August shows and her impressive SSFT vocal range. Are they 90's vocals or near to where she used to be, especially with all the lipping? No. But it's a huge improvement. What's improved the most is her tone and fluidity in her voice. It can be smooth and silky now when rested live.

Re: Variety interview (69,726) (69,736) by Marissa from USA
It doesn't surprise me at all Edward. Every now and then a few lambs come out of the woodwork telling us, "Relax. Mariah's fully in control of her life. She knows exactly what's going on," but if Mariah's statement is true, she really doesn't even know the basics. How can she protect her reputation if she doesn't know what it is? That one quote from that interview explains why her actions have been so tone deaf compared to what the lambs have been begging her to do at every turn. She has no idea what's going on. Mariah being totally oblivious to her reputation is like a singer singing live when they can't hear themselves or a blind person being a hairstylist. You can't expect a person to nail it if there are no feedback loops. It honestly seems like she's less in control of her life and career now than she was during the Mottola years. The only difference is Mottola team's total control and smothering presence, she resented, and the Bulochnikovs' total control and smothering presence, she embraces.

Article: Mariah Carey reschedules final Vegas residency dates (69,735) by RibbonB from USA
Well, at least she won't be working on the kids birthday for a change. At least not in her Vegas shows.

Re: Mariah's West-World (69,731) (69,734) by RibbonB from USA
Here is an article that explains a bit more, but using West World not MW. West World got 3. 6 million live viewers, but the weekly total including replays should be about 12 million which is huge for cable. Speaking of Westworld, an SNL parody of Mariah's World as Mariah's Westworld would be friggin' hilarious. Real Mariah and host Mariah. Wish I had time and interest to write my own fan fiction. Too much to do during the holidays, but the thought makes me chuckle.

I thought it was great. Loved that she reiterated the #1 thing is the music. Very excited for what's to come.

Re: Are the Emotion's whistles live or lipped? (69,716) (69,732) by darrian liu from taiwan
Actually she uses the same prerecorded vocals for the whistles in Emotions since TECS. However in some occasions she does them live, like the SSFT Oslo date.

Re: Mariah's World ratings (69,728) (69,731) by Lila from United States
I've read the same and that I would understand but the article didn't specifically include any reference to DVR or reruns or anything else. It just mentioned the premier night. I'll just wait and see if there are any better articles written on the ratings.

Madonna's sales vs Mariah's (69,730) by Ben from Sweden
Why does it say on wikipedia that Madonna has sold 300 million records world wide, making her the most successful artist. I thought Mariah is mentioned at that. I don't get it. Can someone explain?

Re: Mariah's World ratings (69,724) (69,728) by enwar00 from usa
I think because of DVRs and people watching recorded programs later at their convenience, initial #s don't take into account people later watching the program. Like you I'm also not a ratings expert, but I feel like I've read that.

Re: Variety interview (69,725) (69,726) by Edward from USA
Marissa, does it really surprise you? To my understanding Mariah knows what people think about her just when the noise is so loud that it pokes a hole in her bubble and she can't help it because it is everywhere, just like what happen with the Rockefeller Tree Lighting on 2014. Other than that, she really lives in her own Bubble-Land. I think it is important for her to guard herself from most tabloids and gossip sites, but you should have a sense of how people perceive you in general to balance things out.

"I don't know what people think of me. I had this conversation with Ellen DeGeneres and I was like, 'I don't know what the biggest misconception about me is because I don't know what people think.' I don't know." This is the most horrifying and alarming quote that she gave in this interview.

Mariah's World ratings (69,724) by Lila from United States
Updated ratings article on Deadline. The article basically says that Mariah's World garnered nearly 4M viewers, E. and Bravo viewership combined. Honestly I was stumped as to where 4M came from, especially as they only mention the premiere night views and not reruns of the episode and say that E. only drew 689k total and Bravo 1. 3M total. Then I realized that regardless of the fact that the article has told us outright that only a little less than 2M (1.3M + 689k) tuned in total, they added up the separate demographics: adults 1.2M, women 18-49 904k, adults 594k, women 18-34 442k. Total that gives us 3,140,000 viewers. That's basically a padding of the numbers in my book though as people are being counted twice or three times as though there's more than one person when it's not. Yes the person is an adult, a woman who fits the 18-49 bracket and the 18-34 bracket but that's still one adult. Then on top of it, it still remains that E. viewership was crazy low and those who watched on Bravo were more than likely just too lazy to change the channel. Still, I won't pretend to be a ratings expert so anyone else good at understanding these things, please chime in with your opinion and/or expertise.

Mariah's final Vegas shows rescheduled (69,721) by John john from UK
She will now play final part of her Vegas gig in July and not May. Wow hopefully people can change the flights and hotels. I'd be crying right now if mine was booked and had to change.

Re: AIWFCIY (69,714) (69,720) by Musti from UK
I agree that #1 would be a bit of a stretch. But top 10 should be pretty easy. It's the highest Christmas song entry on Billboard 100 this year. In the UK, it jumped from #29 to #6 this week. That's quite amazing. UK Official Charts are saying it's in hot pursuit of the top spot. With the exception of two songs, everything else in the UK top 10 are either holding their positions or falling. A Billboard #1 is the ultimate accomplishment of course but a UK #1 would be great. It's long overdue. There's a meme going round on Instagram about making AIWFCIY #1. It seems most lambs are planning to go all out this year. Who knows, maybe a Billboard #1 isn't that much of a stretch.

Variety interview (69,717) by Malcolm from Asia
This is one of the best interview she's done this year.
Q: Are there any other shows that you would like to guest star on?
M: Not really. I'm happy to be doing my own show. And there's another show that we're talking about that's more of a scripted series, but I'll tell you that when I can.
Q: Is there anyone you are dying to collaborate in the studio?
M: Oh yes, but I'm not telling. [laughs] There are a few and we're working on it now.
There's so many things to look forward to for next year, I just hope she will do the best in all of this things especially with the next album. Don't disappoint us with that remark about your upcoming collaborations, gosh i'm excited. Still love ya.
