The Keys of Christmas (69,676) by B from USA
Sounds interesting. Especially considering the talent involved. Maybe Dave Meyers can direct Mariah's next video. She needs new collaborators, producers and directors if she hopes to make a comeback. And a stylist.

Petition (69,674) by G.G. from USA
Can someone please start a petition requesting Mariah to put her tits away? I am so tired of looking at her boobs. She looks like a cheap porn actress. They were about to fall out when she was singing with John Legend.

Re: When Christmas Comes "Live" with John Legend (69,666) (69,673) by Licia from USA
Do you know where I can see a full or semi full video of the performance? I only have seen the clip of the chorus and John's part. I expected some lipping. I'm not surprised by it. I just want to see the performance. I love this song.

Re: Mariah Carey - the fan divide (69,244) (69,672) by B from USA
Mariah has always been an R&B artist. Vision of Love is an R&B song and topped Billboard's R&B Songs chart before it topped the Hot 100. She also rapped on her debut album but these people (critics and fans alike) want to claim she was a Pop artist/star and that she made some radical change to her sound.

Everyone lips. She could lip every single performance but doesn't. She has valid reasons for doing so. Her voice is fragile and lipping preserves her voice.

Re: When Christmas Comes "Live" with John Legend (69,240) (69,669) by Tyler from USA
I was at the first show this past Monday and the Beacon shows are 90% live. If Mariah wants to lip a few huge belts let her live. It's not that deep. Mariah sings "When Christmas Comes" live besides the high chorus. She more than proved herself at this show and yet we harp on chorus being lipped. Let's not act like the other singers out there aren't doing this. Give her a break.

Re: When Christmas Comes "Live" with John Legend (69,240) (69,666) by Mirage_Nunez from America
Her vocals actually sounded different from the album version. Unless she recorded an alternate version to lip to, she may been all live here. That last "when Christmas cooomme" was definitely live.

Re: Mariah should read her own press (69,243) (69,248) by Lexingz from Estonia
Mimi L. yeah, I agree that in the internet comments there is a lot of harsh criticisim towards her exactly the way you described. A lot of the harshness has been encouraged by reporters lying and blowing things out of proportion though. You don't have to agree with that one. When I have talked to other people (not fans) about Mariah the women usually mention that they used to admire her for her early hits and men mention her boobs. Nobody really hates her I think. The main sentiment I get nowadays is, people feel sorry for her that she is struggling with her voice.

Mariah's World (69,247) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
This may be premature as I'm only judging by with pilot episode, but if Mariah's reason for filming this reality show (I mean come on, docu-series? I tried with that term, but seriously) is that she honestly just wants to spin this footage into something that she would be "proud of" in the future, then I honestly don't see that happening. Like ever.

Re: Mariah should read her own press (69,237) (69,246) by RibbonB from USA
Yup, that is exactly my point, but she really needs to put some checks and balances into her business if she is going to claim being the boss. I'm sick of the convenient victim she often plays. And yes Mimi L. this empowerment theme does not ring true at all. Mariah needs to stop doing many things and saying other things.

Re: Mariah should read her own press (69,243) (69,245) by Luke from United Kingdom
I get what you guys mean about how she should pay attention to things but why should she? If her living that way isn't hurting anyone why does she have to change to please the masses? She has been doing that for most of her life so perhaps she's tired. It's not like she has publicly asked for criticism so she can better herself and appearance. They just say the stuff they do to stir the pot and bitch about her for ratings and entertainment. It's easy for us to say she should read what the articles/public say about her and the way she comes across to people but imagine being in her shoes and reading those things constantly. We are only human and eventually it would get to you no matter how thick skinned you are. I say good for her for not paying it any attention because I honestly think it could become addictive reading that stuff all the time. I also believe the things they say in the media about these artists most likely contributed the downfall of many greats like Whitney, Amy Winehouse, etc. It's borderline abuse really and hounding and she's not the only star dealing with it and unfortunately, it's women that seem to get the brunt of it in that world. I can understand why artists like Adele keep out of that world. Even if Mariah lived her life perfectly and sang in a pristine way the public and media would still find something to drag her down, and she knows that. The Daily Mail is proof of how much so many people love looking at the negative. For example I remember when she was posting a few years ago about the Chile earthquakes I think it was, asking people to donate. I read the comments and so many of them were people bashing her saying they shouldn't have to donate because she's so rich. I was like wtf lol she could be doing nothing but at least she's using her public outreach to bring some sort of awareness. Some people can't help but follow negative paths in life unfortunately.

Mariah Carey - the fan divide (69,244) by Terna from Nigeria
There seems to be a great divide between Mariah's fans 1990-1997 and 1997-2016 or say present day. The former of when she was considered a pop artist and someone new in the industry, in contrast to someone who had paid her dues, proved herself and gained a certain amount of respect and freedom to be herself from 1997 onward, this reflected in her work immediately indicated by the jarring switch of the genre of music she made from pop to R&B/Hip-Hop. This single move Mariah made I feel is truly what set her levels above the rest and what has in the long run given her longevity. She followed and still follows her heart. Not what Tommy Mottola envisioned or oversaw in the past, but what was truly Mariah in her inner most core, and her love for R&B/Hip-Hop, music she grew up listening to and could relate to. The resulting body of work which reflects that time became her magnum opus - Butterfly a masterpiece of perfectly blended Pop, R&B/Hip-Hop, which Singers like Beyoncé and Rihanna often borrow from, testament to the impact of Butterfly; Mariah's blueprint.

Re: Mariah should read her own press (69,237) (69,243) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Hoochie mama, RJJ12 I just can't. But you are right, that is what she is being portrayed as even if she is not like that. She really needs to read some stuff though. I mean she's probably being told "Oh people are losing their mind over you and Tanaka" (not the reality that no one is buying it and calling her desperate to go so low to prove she's doing fine), then "Oh people are hash tagging 'Inconvenience Fee' now, you're like a women empowerment icon now" (not what people are actually saying, which is "you are being called a crazy gold digger who is trying to bully her ex fiance to pay her for leaving her"). By the way the women empowerment thing came to mind after I saw this recent interview of Mariah where she talks about how the show has many moments of women empowerment. That got me thinking "Stella Effect" because even though in many ways Mariah is an independent self made woman, but she never really talks about women empowerment, I don't think she ever brought it up before.

What in the world is she wearing? Also, what is with her wearing jewelries that don't go with her outfit? She needs a new stylist. Ugly. Yuck.

Re: She just needs Stella to do her job (69,235) (69,241) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't blame Stella for being overwhelmed with all the work, after all she has zero background in this line, I mean come on, how can a reality show producer be an efficient manager to an A list music star, what I blame her is for pretending like she is doing a stellar job and calling out anyone who says otherwise and not having the morals or decency to just gracefully step down from this. But of course she won't because half her family and friends are on Mariah's payroll now. Mariah basically has no one outside of the Bulochnikovs around her, except for Kris. There was James Packer but now he has been thrown out too. I don't remember if I read it here or somewhere else that someone was saying Stella wouldn't let Mariah marry Packer eventually because once Mariah is married, James would throw Stella out or at least not tolerate her moving in her whole family into Mariah's house like a freaking parasite. I'm not saying Stella did it, but you all know what happens when your friends keep whispering in your ears about your boyfriend not being right so many times, eventually you start disliking him haha. I'm just kidding by the way.

When Christmas Comes "Live" with John Legend (69,240) by Malcolm from Asia
What is this Mariah? You sound like a chipmunk I can't, or should I say your backing track sounds like a chipmunk. The nerve of you to lip sync in front of your duet partner is beyond, don't really know if I can still call you a singer. Yeah maybe your reason why you lip syncs is to preserve your voice, but for what? For recording a bunch of songs in the studio that you can't replicate live? It's a shame to invite John Legend with you on stage and you're just there trying to look like you're singing, girl that is the time you must use that voice 100%, give some respect to him. It's bleak. You're bleak. I can imagine John Legend talking about what you did with Chrissy Teigen and Chrissy probably lost her respect for you. Stop raising the bar too much, enough with that already because you can't clearly sustains it anymore. All I want for the next album is for you to showcase what is left on your voice and make sure you can sing all of that 100% live.

VH1 Divas 2016 (69,238) by darrian liu from taiwan
I recently watched the full official performance from VH1 and unlike the fan videos, the official performance sounded like it was 90% live. I presume that she sung over a loud backing track (probably the recording from the extra festive version) because in the official video, I can differentiate between her recorded version and her current voice which sounds raspier, heavier and less effortless. I guess from the fan vids, the loud backing track overpowers her live voice by quite a bit. So I think it wasn't such a disappointment.

Re: Mariah should read her own press (69,211) (69,237) by 123 from USA
She said in a recent interview that she doesn't read press about her and ignores it. I wonder if she knows how she is being presented to the press. She's presented as this messy, desperate, half clothed, hoochie momma gold digger instead of a musical genius who so happens to be over the top-extra. Sorry if I was too harsh.

John Legend at Beacon (69,236) by Sarah from Netherlands
Looked lipped to me. Normally she'd have her struggle face on belting like that. And whoever wrote the caption misspelled and consequently mistagged Chrissy Teigen. Unfortunate. Cool guest appearance though.

She just needs Stella to do her job (69,235) by Susana from USA
It seemed to me from the show, that what a manager would normally do on their own was being presented to Mariah as it was being figured out. At one point, Mariah was like I don't want to know how we are getting there, except let me know when I'm performing or something like that. I can't recall exactly what was said now, but it seemed she wasn't used to knowing all the mundane details that are normally carried out without her needing to know every last bit. I think Stella is perhaps overwhelmed with taking care of a career she doesn't have the experience to handle. On the show talking about postponing the wedding, when she should have perhaps made it happen for her client. I'm sure her concert dates over the fall could have been postponed and not scheduled, knowing a wedding was pending.

Mariah and Nick (69,234) by RibbonB from USA
I will take them at their own words that they loved each other, were at one time best friends and soul mates, but things change. She once said that she would never marry again after TM, unless she wanted to bring children into another relationship which she did with Nick. This new guy seems to be a part of the reality show script, down to using him to sabotage her next "wedding to JP". The seeds are planted in the first episode, with liitle crumbs sprinkled around all summer. The post NC stuff seems very contrived, but the way she is morphing into a Kardashian, anything is possible. I hope for her kids' sake and her own she doesn't take the stunt that far.
