Re: New Year performance (70,593) (70,606) by Licia from USA
I have watched the performance several times. She didn't sing at all. My ears work fine and so do my eyes. It's you who needs to head to a doctor because you're obviously deaf and blind. Silly definitely describes you and your arguments. Just get over that you're wrong and have a nice day sir. Lol.

At least remove the pre-recorded whistles? (70,605) by John from Italy
The thing that bothers me more are the pre-recorded whistles. Why the sound engineers didn't mute the track with the whistles? They could put that track again if Mariah intended to restart singing. It has been carelessly revealed to the whole world the exact parts she usually lips synchs, breaking the magic (or revealing the imposture, if you prefer). However, I would really like to know what Mariah was hearing at that time - to understand if she was in a condition where nobody (not even the most consummate performer) would be able to perform at all, or if she, frightened by a small hearing problem, got caught by insecurity and simply gave up. It would be nice if she explained in technical terms what happened. She was astonishgly beautiful though.

Memoir of a NYE disappointment (70,604) by Brad from USA
It was time for the ball to drop, a new year to come around. My life didn't really say "celebrate", but rather a more pragmatic "you should really get some sleep, you have a long day tomorrow". The only reason to turn it on was to see her, Mariah - a woman I have loved in varying forms since 1990. When they announced her, I cheered, even when alone, as I always do, and even if I must do it silently in my own mind. I listened to the first part, at first not recognizing it from a prior NYE performance she did on a rooftop in Manhattan. I clapped - could this be live and is Mariah about to give us the type of performance I have been so lucky to witness in person many times before? The music changed, it was time for an upbeat and hopefully confident and smiling Mariah to enchant us. It was not to be. Gone. Seemingly there and then not. As I watched, I recognized the sarcasm that masks her pain. Camouflage. How much hurt she has known. This to be ever more. They then carried on while she was left behind, alone on life's roadside to cure her own wounds. My heart broken again, for her, and for us who take pride in her and the standard she once reached. I have no shame for that pride then - she was it. My loyalty unending to get to this day - though there were valleys I bridged along the way. And from here? I must protect my own heart, my pride, my sense of a standard. And have hope that this woman I have carried love for, so openly, will do the same as she comes to terms with what her life currently says to her.

Stella's attitude (70,603) by Tiina from Finland
Is not helping. She comes across as paranoid and rude. Stop pointing fingers. The last thing we need is a war with a TV network. And you need to stop swearing. Stella clearly does not know how to represant a star like Mariah. I also think it's really arrogant to say stuff like "Mariah was the biggest star there, she did them a favor". Not a good look.

Re: Mariah's career (70,525) (70,602) by TJ from Norway
I actually think she should take at least 5 years off, just to let the kids go to one school, let them make friends and experience a "normal" world. She once said that she didn't want her future kids to grow up in the light of showbiz, but that's what they are doing right now. Look at all the screwed up kids of famous people. While taking a long public break she can make good lyrics and melodies, don't use samples, but make something that is her own (or decide to just retire for good).

Re: Professional? (70,563) (70,601) by Lara from Middle East
Exactly, has she done that, it wouldn't have been that big story. She seems scared to sing live and doesn't trust her voice so she keeps hiding behind the "ensembles" and "choreography". Her attitude (or team) after the fiasco doesn't help either.

How? (70,600) by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA
See what I don't get is how were the dancers able to nail their routines to the music but Mariah couldn't hear any music? In times of Mariah crises, I always dive into collecting and adding to my Mariah collection. All of you need I go on eBay or Amazon and buy a music box poster or I still believe promo and "relive the splendor". If she is delusional then join her and get lost in what she used to be. Oh, how many of y'all had family and friends blowing you up because they all know you're a Mariah Stan?

Re: Getting through to Mariah (70,586) (70,599) by Gigi from USA
This is a great idea and please tag/hashtag her friends: Da Brat, Rachel, L.A. Reid, Patti LaBelle, Josefin, Jermaine, DJ Suss One, DJ Khaled, Lionel Ritchie, Shawn (not sure if this is a useful tag or not, as he seems to go with the flow), Jasmine, Brett Ratner (I know he use to be friends with Stella, but I haven't seen him around since the Packer split), etc. If the fans can't reach her, I'm hoping at least one of her friends can (if they truly care). Fingers crossed.

Re: Stella blaming ABC and Dick Clark's Production (70,577) (70,598) by Dustbin from USA
Well said. As always your comments are well balanced and real. I believe something technical happened but I also believe she was there to lip. I could tell when she did the interview with Ryan that her voice was hoarse and I thought oh here we go with another lipped performance. She neeeds to prove to everyone she can still sing. Make (positive) headlines again and fast. Stella hasn't done much damage control yet because she doesn't know how.

I bet she will stick up for Mariah this time.

Re: Getting through to Mariah (70,586) (70,596) by RibbonB from USA
Perhaps bombard the MW twitter. They probably want the traffic, so they might not block people. Piers Morgans Daily Mail post has over 4k comments and 99% of the ones I read were bad. This might be the sinking of the ship part that Eddie Morales wrote about. Funny how the team that left seemed to already know the script and did not approve.

Re: I'm so confused (70,557) (70,595) by May from Denmark
It seems she did a short rehearse, mostly for the dance moves, and there were two sound checks. One at about 8 hours previous the show and another before it. Supposedly complaints were made since the first check. They shouldn't have let her go on stage when she said she barely could hear anything while she was talking to Ryan. Fix it and then go on. The tracks were wrong as well. The first ASL was not the right one, Mariah was singing something else while the audio was rolling another completely different, so the mimicing was too obvious, then came Emotions with only the whistles pre recorded and her saying out loud that was not the planned onerather, then got WBT also being the wrong track. Everything was wrong from the get go.

Re: Mimi L / Stella / NYE performance (70,579) (70,594) by May from Denmark
The statement from the team is terrible and worthless. Will any of us believe such claims anymore? I recall the Rockefeller time being a "sabotage" and before that on another occassion "sabotage" and how many times the damn earplug piece of hell. Stella ridiculous blame game plus Mariah probably also in the "was sabotage" wagon will give her trouble. Really. Just admit it. They all f* it up including Mariah "miss blameless". Mariah's overuse of the word sabotage since the Glitter fiasco for anything that goes wrong makes me think this is just another time when everyone has been freaking lazy. Who, tell me, who hates Mariah so much that would stalk her through the years and sabotage her any given opportunity? Let's stop it with the conspiracies Stella, your client is simply running out of gas. Less splashes, less play hard, less eternally 12 and more work ethic.

Re: New Year performance (70,554) (70,593) by Terna from Nigeria
Have several seats Licia apparently, you're the silly one here who didn't even bother watching the performance before running in here with your half-assed assessments absolutely no one is checking for. Mariah sang many parts of Emotions live before finally giving up. I guess your ears aren't working too. And one more thing, that word "silly" cannot be attributed to me in any shape, form or way. Good day.

Re: Professional? (70,563) (70,592) by Edouard from France
Are you for real? And you would have wanted her to do all that, 12 minutes before midnight, in front of a crowd and cameras and stuff? Like, do you really think this could have been an option? That's a rethorical question btw.

Re: Whistles (70,561) (70,591) by B from USA
The performance was a mess but those whistles are always there. She's talked about how she would layer the background of songs with them. They weren't the whistle notes from the chorus so I'm giving her a pass on that part. I think she's been celebrating with one or thirty splashes too many this holiday season and she knew her voice was too dried out to actually perform live. Mariah lay off the alcohol and Xanax.

Random (70,590) by G.G. from USA
Does anyone else think that something happened between B. Scott and Mariah? He rarely posts about her anymore. Not on his site or on Instagram. I wonder if B. Scott was another Stella casualty?

Re: NYE performance (70,571) (70,589) by Licia from USA
Thanks for that explanation May. This is what I wanted to know about the earpiece and monitor situation. So all in all even without those things working she still could have tried. Her giving up is what bothered me the most.

Re: NYE performance (70,564) (70,588) by RibbonB from USA
All true. I have said the same things too. She needs to work on healing and growing from within, not bopping to the next team or dude or whatever. She could take a break though to clean this slate. She must not use people or let them use her and thirst for press like a splash or crack. The real things are herself and her children. I really hope she focuses on those. There will always be "kiss asses" to say and do what it takes to get in, but that lasts as far as her bank account, or their strength allows. I really hope she uses the first part of 2017 to refocus and prepare for this Lionel tour, or even rethink participating. This tour would be the perfect venue to let the audience sing along to her hits, but even that has to be done right. Her "apology" tweet was rather ominous in forecasting "more headlines in 2017".

Article: Mariah's team claims singer was sabotaged to get ratings (70,587) by RibbonB from USA
More likely Stellar and team sabotage Mariah for better ratings of MW. Conveniently MW airs on the very next evening. Ryan Seacrest didn't seem surprised though, but it is strange that if Mariah kept complaining, that no one on her team nor did she say "fix it before I go on". She made a valiant effort to finish, too bad she didn't just wing it. It looked crazy with the bg dancers smiling and doing their typical wack dances with her not singing. Oh well, she better have a plan B for all future performances, maybe even a plan C. Perhaps just sing live with a piano, music tracks and background singers.

Getting through to Mariah (70,586) by G.G. from USA
All of us that love Mariah should bombard her social media, and Stella's, with our honest feelings. She needs to know that we're over her lazy diva bullshit and that if she wants us to continue to support her, then things need to change drastically. I cant message Stella, because I'm on her block list. Lol.

Re: Stella blaming ABC and Dick Clark's Production (70,577) (70,585) by G.G. from USA
This entire situation is all absolutely ridiculous. I love Mariah and everything she has given me throughout the years. I have loved her since I was a child, but I'm just done. I will not be purchasing any more of her albums, or merchandise. If she turns around and redeems herself somewhere down the line, I might reconsider how I feel. Until then, I'm done with her lazy, diva bullshit and I won't defend her anymore.

Time to clean house (70,583) by Mirage from Unicornatopia
For what feels like the millionth time in Mariah's career, I feel like she needs to clean house. However, the starting point is with Mariah this time. It's not enough to get rid of Stella and all the hangers on, but Mariah needs to go to rehab and centre herself again. She needs to find Mariah Carey. She looks lost in this world. She looks lost in Mariah's World. She looked lost on stage. Once she gets some perspective, she needs to get rid of Stella and hire a professional and effecive team. She needs a team capable of handling legends, similar to what Lionel Richie or Barbra Streisand has around them. Time to accept that you are a legends artist, rely on your back catalogue, and accept your age. Birthdays happen Mariah. People grow up. It's time you do the same.

Starting the new year with a new L (70,582) by Marissa from USA
This shit was absolutely unacceptable. You mean to tell me that after all of those mishaps no one could have ran on stage and given her another earpiece or done something? They couldn't have cut the music? How did they just let the woman embarrass herself for 6 minutes on stage with no interference? That's like her having a nipslip and just having to continue performing with her nipple out without a stylist coming to the rescue. Somebody needs to be fired. That shit didn't make any sense. I don't know the inner-workings of the situation so I'm not going to blame it completely on Stella but I would be very happy if this was just used as a segue to get rid of her ass. I'm personally not too crushed by this event. You know how it is with Mariah once the media has dragged her: it will either make her step her team and voice up or she will fully accept that she should hang it up and retire. I'm tired one of the most legendary artists around having a career checkered with failure, chaos and lack of professionalism. There is no excuse anymore. Go hard or go home.
