Changing the subject... (106,986)
by Stacey from USA
| |
|
|
My husband and I watched the whole opening ceremony and parts of it felt so off. As a Christian the mocking of the last supper was super disappointing. Christians can be mocked but if one mocks another religion all heck breaks loose. But I digress. Seeing Celine sing a beautiful song at the end was for sure the best part. All the rest felt strange to me. No matter. I am excited to support Team USA. Goud luck to all the athletes.

Yes she was great. Best part of the whole opening ceremony. I found the rest of it not great. Great idea to show the city, which looked amazing, however the rest of it didn’t translate well on TV I felt.

What will MC bring differently for MC16? (106,985)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
I know we kind of have an idea what MC16 may sound like. However, what will MC bring differently for the sound and cohesiveness of MC16? I am hoping for something like what Amy Winehouse's Back to Black was in 2007. On Back to Black, every song was a glimpse into Amy's personal life since Frank. The retro 60's wall of sound works well for the album and it got the public's and the Grammy's attention of who Amy Winehouse was as an artist. MC is going have to do something like that with MC16. Whatever sound she is creating right now, it will have to be her most cohesive body of work in her career. Mimi has had 6 years to do just that and bring it this time. I hope she can do it and not come off trying to hard to create an album that well perceived by the public.

A part of me agrees with you. I'd love some younger, fresh faces too. My hubby can't stand Trump. Makes for some fun discussions, lol. But at the end of the day, he votes his way and I do my thing. Thank you for keeping things respectful even though we see things differently.

I would be relieved to have Trump and Biden gone. Trump is erratic and unfit to lead and probably belongs on the sex offender registry.
And Biden is in such poor health he can barely put a sentence together and can't remember world leaders' name and names of people in his own cabinet. He referred to Ukrainian President Zelensky as "President Putin" at the NATO Summit and referenced to "Vice President Trump" instead of VP Harris. He called Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin "the black man" when he couldn't remember Austin's name during an interview with BET.
He never should have ran in 2020, the Democratic candidate should have been someone younger and in better health like Kamala.

Thankfully I don't put stock into the opinions of strangers on the Internet. None. It's why I respond with humor. Judging me by calling me names without knowing anything about me or the 74 million Trump voters says more about your character than mine. I enjoy a good political discussion based on substance. But I won't argue with someone who calls me names. Political talk should be a discussion not an argument.

If I could like this message more times, I would. And you're right about not getting anywhere arguing with a cultist. A conservative is one thing, but being all in for a proven con artist, sexual predator, misogynist, bigot, ignorant, wannabe authoritarian (did you hear him today asking "Christians" to vote just one more time and they'll never have to vote again? Awful) just because you don't understand how the world economy works, and you don't know your own history, is quite another thing altogether.

Yes, what a final for the olympic opening. The final was the best. The German commentator shared some tears too because of Céline Dion. You could hear it. He was very moved. I love the great Edith Piaf and Céline singing that song behind the Eiffel tower (after all her struggling) it really was heart touching and awesome. I will watch the games. Thanks, I wish everyone who is watching a great time too.

I do my best to get along with Trump supporters and to respect their choice to support him. I cannot vote for someone who has so little respect for women though. I supported Clinton in 2016 for similar reasons and just think Trump is unqualified.
I actually feel the same way about Biden as I do about Trump. I didn't vote for him in 2020 (voted for the Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins), disagreed with Obama (supported Obama in 2008 and 2012) choosing him for VP, and disliked him as a primary candidate in 2008. I think Biden has been very condescending to President Obama and African-Americans generally. I also didn't like the way Biden lied about his past positions on same-sex marriage.
Harris called him out during the 2020 primaries, which I liked. I consider myself a moderate, and I think Harris' record as Attorney General, District Attorney, and Senator are not extreme.
As far as gas prices go, we need to be encouraging automobile manufacturers to make more fuel efficient cars and setting up programs to help get the prices on the hybrid and electric vehicles down. I'd love to get a hybrid, but cars cost 2-3 times as much now as what I paid for my Toyota Yaris in 2009, which I got with rebate from Obama's "Cash for Clunkers" program.

Thank you. I have dealt with a lot of hate from people who are anti-Trump and just dismiss me as being uneducated and not knowing any better. Working in health care, I actually did better on my 401K, and took home more money with far less inflation than under the current administration. So it's nice to know that among the MC community there is still diversity of thought, and other ideas are still respected.

Xavier that is so cute. My nephew is much older now. When he was 3 I got him hooked onto It's Like That. He used to call it " Thatcho Patcho". Good old days. Now he's 22 and has blocked Mariah from his mind I think.
Thanks for reminding me of the Portrait remix. Totally what I needed right now.
From the current artists, I've started taking a liking to Chapell Roan. I love some of the songs from the album and Goodluck Babe (released after the album). So much more interesting and fun than the rest of the more popular pop music made these days.
Robert Anthony I practice residential architecture and interiors, done a few commercial spaces but no schools (yet).

I don't even know the artists, the songs or the type of music which is listened to by youngsters here in Spain. Every now and then I happen to be with my nephew, who is 11 years old, and I have no idea of what he's singing along to. He then tells me the name of the artist or group and nothing to me.
When he was a baby, he used to sing along "Supernatural": "Our love is supernatural... ah ah ah ah...". He doesn't remember, but I got it recorded. Lol.

I am a special education teacher. I work with kids who have various disabilities. I love it. I've been married 23 years with three kids. Mariah fan since 1993.
Ok politics, this will be my one and only post. When Trump announced he was running for president, I was like oh heck no. I didn't want Trump as the Republican nominee. I knew Hilary Clinton would be the Democrat nominee and I did not want her as president. I was so sure if Trump ran against Hilary, she would win. I was so sick and tired of the establishment running the show (i.e. Bush family, Clintons, etc). When Trump shockingly won in 2016, I was hopeful he would do a good job. I voted for him because I felt he stuck to his word. The border was secure. Unemployment was at all time lows for all races, especially in the black community. China was having to even put their trade practices with the US. Trump was walking into North Korea for crying out loud. Historic. Look up the Abraham Accords that Trump orchestrated between Arab nations and Israel. Gas prices were low, inflation too. I do not want to pay high gas prices. I have a family to feed. My opinion of Trump changed because I liked where "the ball was landing so to speak". Contrast Trump's four years with Biden. There's no question who I want back in office. Do I like Trump personally? Not really. But I liked the job he did as president. We get on Trump's escapades with women. Look up Harris' connection with Willie Brown and Montel Williams. Look at her record not what the media tells you. I'm a staunch conservative but not a blind follower. I don't belong to either party. I go by the guy who fits my bottom line, what affects my pocketbook, and the guy who I think will help me lower my costs is Trump. Peace. (If you read all that, bless you.)
