Article: Mariah Carey unveils "Here for It All" track list (110,766)

They better give Kehlani credit. Honestly her verse was fire. Arguably may be better than MC's. I actually see why Mariah hand picked her for this record. She was exactly who was needed, and the Afrobeat touch of Shenseea is just chef's kiss. I found myself playing this song everyday. I've landed to loving it and see why it is everyone's favorite. It's a grower. We just need the girlies to start dancing on TikTok. I foresee a viral dancing trend.

I believe it is a marketing strategy to make people purchase the album thinking MC is singing Sugar Sweet solo. Also, Gamma could just be doing the same uncredited guest vocals marketing strategy like Dire Straits did when the band released Money For Nothing without giving Sting a feature credit. Foreigner did the same thing with Jennifer Holiday not receiving a feature credit on the explosive finale to I Want To Know What Love Is. Both Shenseea and Kehlani will absolutely receive the writing credits on the album.

"Maybe she knows the songs aren't all that." That seems accurate to me as well. She's mentioned that Sugar Sweet was everyone's favorite. This was supposed to be the peak. I hope I'm proven wrong though, and there is actually a song close to a WBT moment. It doesn't have to be as successful commercially, but it can be on par melodically.
Sugar Sweet is the stronger of the two, but I feel like Mariah insisted Type Dangerous be the fire starter just because she loves the sample so much. I think she also has a say on which single is going out, hence "releasing music on her own terms".
Maybe she did save the best for last, and this 3rd single actually will be the one to swing home the trophy. In the last few weeks before release, she could unleash something that becomes a major moment, fully maximizing the promo. I have a feeling it's the .Paak duet, which she's said she thinks is "really" good.
Anyway, I haven't felt this excited about an era in a while. Successful or not, Mariah is back in the spotlight on major award shows. Here's the top 5 ranked by prestige and ratings:
1. Grammys - She kind of got honored here not too long ago. "Is this a Grammy?" after leaving Stevie hanging LMAO. That's why I think she's now confident to go for the main stage next year. I hate that she got honored in a non-televised backstage moment.
2. VMAs - She will be a shining star on this year's show.
3. Billboard Music Awards - Already honored above and beyond.
4. AMAs - I don't know if she'll ever be back. It's Dick Clark Productions, and we ain't really forget NYE. I know she went back the next year, but that was solely for rebuttal.
5. iHeart Radio - She's been honored here. Done and done.
Let's try to revel in all these moments with Mi.

Maybe she knows the songs aren't all that and she's not excited? Maybe this is a cash grab like her Vegas shows which she clearly doesn't want to do anymore. Maybe someone is controlling her again? What happened to the Mariah that created music because she was inspired to hear her voice on the radio, or was it always about the money? Time will tell, and we will know once the album drops how much of the old Mariah is still with us.
Anyway don't forget to vote for her at the MTV VMA's. The only award she has not won in her 35 year career.

Super Bowl (110,762)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I saw an article that Mariah may perform at the Super Bowl halftime show this year. I'm not sure if it's true but it got me thinking about what songs I think would be best to perform.
I remember when The Who performed. That was a lot of people's introduction to them and they are a great band. A lot of us became fans after that performance.
I really think she should drop the songs she normally does. They're great songs but they kind of put her in "relic" territory and people who don't follow her like we do probably think she doesn't have any other good songs. When she has so many good songs. I think she should do happy up-tempo songs that could have been hits. Make it a party.
For starters we need a live band. Songs sound better with a live band. The songs need to blend seamlessly. If she needs a big choir to make her sound better - get one.
I don't blame her for not having the same voice she had at 35 but she looks 35 so people still expect her to sound like she did in her prime. She needs to do whatever to sound good. Smoke and mirrors if we have to.
Please choose a good outfit. I like the sparkly blue and purple one with the tall silver boots she wore to Brighten Pride. It was festive and flattering. We don't need a hundred outfit changes - just one really good outfit. (I would like a diamond encrusted headband, too, but that probably wouldn't happen.)
The songs have to sound good. Here's my rough list. I'm going to think about this more and I may cut it down.
Migrate Obsessed Stay Long Love You Money ($*/...) I'll Be Loving You Long Time Fantasy Stay The Night Make It Look Good It's A Wrap Boy (I Need You) Dedicated Type: Dangerous
What's your dream list? Also, could we also get some female dancers for this performance?

I'm very surprised that JD did not produce one song for "HFIA". Does anyone know if he and Mariah are still friends? Also what happened with Johnta Austin? Mariah hasn't worked with him again since "DFAU" I believe, she should work with him again.

MC the GOAT (110,760)

I did not know that (about Tommy). I like Bey but her having 35 Grammys is a joke. Mariah was robbed in '96 and in '06. She definitely deserved album of the year for "TEOM" but the Academy gave it to U2. It was nice to see Mariah at the Grammys last year but she once again called them overrated lol. Maybe she can at least be nominated again if her songs are worthy.

The Academy hates Mariah. It's very apparent Tommy infiltrated the board in '96 and wanted to humiliate the crap out of her since they were on the brink of divorce. They still objectively did her dirty during TEOM when she blatantly deserved AOTY and refused to give it to her.
Though the Grammys are desperate to save their credibility now, they thought making Beyoncé the most awarded in 2023 would reel in ratings, but it backfired. The general public's sentiment was, "Nah, she good, but she not that good." It worked for them having her until around 2015 imho, but everyone truly woke up after she won Best Country Album last year. Everyone thought, "Okay, so sponsored and paid by Jay-Z," which we all know is true. It's so clearly her retaliation for being snubbed in the Country Music Awards, so they called their friends up in the Grammy board. It was a pathetic move though, it's sadly backfired and now most of America think the Grammys is a joke. It turns out all the small towns throughout the nation know the authentic country sound and America is not just LA and New York.
Anywho, MC did surprisingly get an invite to the Grammys to present for Miley, so maybe they've cooled off on Mariah and are finally ready to develop a decent relationship with her. "Actually, so people think we're rigged and we need real talent again. You down?"

I'm fascinated by so many Mariah references and the songs she wrote them for and I kinda like she plays coy when asked. It's clear that Butterfly (backwardly), Can't Take That Away, Side Effects, Petals (the patriarch) are about Tommy. Clown and Obsessed are about Eminem. My All, The Roof and Honey are about Derek. The Impossible, Cry, The Art of Letting Go and Faded are about Nick. I Don't is about James Packer. GTFO is about Stella. That sums up the men. I wonder who is the boy and girl in Petals (they're bonded thru despondency) and is the knife chipping away at her is Walter A? I still believe he was at that table and said nothing and that's the falling out. Finally, I am 90% sure that Thirsty is about Damizza and not about Nick. And I Wish You Well, Alison, Brenda K Starr? Unexpected allies (110,758)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Lambs were never jealous of Madonna's success anymore than we were jealous of Whitney's, Janet's, Celine's, Shaniah's, Toni's, Britney's, X-Tina's, Taylor's or even Ariana's success. I rebuke it. I have bought at least 5 of the aforementioned artists albums at the height of their popularities all while being a Lamb 200%. I have an overall great taste in music. I don't discriminate. What moves me moves me. It's not a premeditated decision. I'm hoping most people are still like this but maybe not. Oh, well.
Jealousy is a bitch we might have heard of and seen in passing but in the end - we just don't know her. The only difference between now and then ("back in the day") is that everything wasn't so precious all the freaking time. When JLo and Tommy stole from Mariah, we heard about it in real time from multiple sources, including Mariah herself and receipts were shared.
The same stuff happens these days but it's a whole different ballgame. The gatekeeping is strong af. There's an oligarchy of sorts that's been dominating The Anglo-Music World for 2 decades and it's straight politics. Really, the whole entertainment game is just one long political campaign.
Mariah's not a schmoozer, never was and never will be. That's to her credit. Taylor Swift is very much a publicist's dream client. No need to elaborate. Unexpected allies, ey?
As Mariah Carey famously coined in the 90's (and Celine borrowing her quote verbatim): "There's room for everybody," when asked what she thought of other female A-list artists. This has since evolved into - We Love Everybody.
These things make me happy.

I doubt it. I think Swifties in general have been nasty towards Mariah over the last few years. I think they are jealous of Mariah's legendary career in the same way that lambs used to be jealous of Madonna's legendary career. I don't think Taylor Swift deciding to release her album a week after Mariah's was by chance. She intended to do that. She's trying to show how big her current career is in relation to another legend, albeit someone past her prime.
But Mariah will come back in the holidays like she does every year.

Let's hope the album version of 'Sugar Sweet' is feature free. No offense to Shenseea or Kehlani. But ain't nobody wait almost 7 years for a new Mariah CD because of the potential guest stars.
"Caution" is so good that Team Mariah really doesn't have an excuse to not deliver on all fronts this time around. I'm assuming nothing/nobody has the power to put any reigns on MC at this point and hopefully MC won't have put any barriers between herself and her art.
I don't like her clammed up and defensive. Her work might not suffer but she has historically when that's happened before. We love her free, expressive, earnest, truthful and playful. She's the only artist apart from MJ that has me laughing, dancing, yelling, twirling around, head to the sky and in tears - both happy and sad - consistently, on every single album.
I'm ready for a genuinely authentic angry-Riah. I say this with

I believe the boy and girl referenced in Petals may be a reference to Tommy's children from his previous marriage. I don't know for sure, but it tracks in terms of Tommy having a boy and girl from his previous marriage. I read something to that effect a long long time ago, so please don't quote me on it. Nothing more than a theory at this point.

I love it. Taylor was cheering for Mariah during her emotional first Icon Award. Mariah responded, "You don't see people from the stage, but I love her, she was always so sweet from the first time I met her." If Mariah says she's sweet and got manners (unlike Christina) then we love her. We stan another respectful songwriting queen.

I stumbled upon this mashup remix of Type Dangerous by Initial Talk on YouTube. It's so good, sounds nostalgic yet fresh. I don't recall anyone sharing this here so I posted. My favorite work by Initial Talk was Real Groove (Studio 2054 Initial Talk Remix) by Kylie Minogue & Dua Lipa. Such a great track.

Unexpected allies (110,745)

So Kanye West is releasing his album on the same day as Mariah and I’m hearing rumblings about Swifties planning to stream Mariah to block Kanye since Kanye and Taylor have beef. I don’t know if it will gather steam but Swifties have done it before.

#Beautiful video (110,744)

The video is bad and is low budget. They didn't even go in a proper location. It is the first Mariah lead single video that has no story and concept. All her lead single videos, apart from Loverboy, have some kind of story or good concept since Honey: Honey Heartbreaker Through the Rain It's Like That / WBT TMB Obsessed

If the music is good and there's a song worth being nominated, do you think the Academy would actually nominate her?

I can't. Mariah looks absolutely stunning in her recent Instagram reel talking about the Mi era. I love how Kristofer does her lips and how she didn't get fillers like everyone else in Hollywood. She simply sculpts them with makeup in such a brilliant way. Mariah has found her signature looks and is unapologetically maximizing them. She is just "making the most of life". She truly is doing what ever the hell she wants and I aspire to be that festive.
"I'm about to reach a new beauty peak, darlings: body snatched, face snatched, a VMA moment, a BET Icon Award moment, maybe a couple of number ones, and beat The Beatles. A Grammy moment to remind everyone who the **** I am." She understands bipolar disorder is bleak, so she's choosing to experience all the highs to their fullest extent.
"I don't care. Buy the award. We're wealthy and fabulous. Buy the finest diamonds, it doesn't matter. Don't be bleak. I'm the queen of Christmas. I'm rich and sexy as hell darlings." I love how she's arrived at the point where she knows she is in fact the best, a cut above everyone, and is now getting whatever the **** she wants. Why? Because she simply can.

Maybe, I heard she might reveal the tracklist soon. I guess the one that was leaked might be legit after all. If so the songs look interesting. I can't wait to hear the gospel track with The Clark Sisters.

I have a good feeling "Mi" or "Play This Song" will be the 3rd single. Gamma is probably going to drop it a week before the album is released or on 09.26.
