E=MC2 off on the beaten path (106,872)
by Shezz from Pk

Those four would have been amazing single choices. That Chick really deserved to shine. Was the miscarriage after IBYLT was released? That’s when she basically stopped all promo after the VMA Japan performance which was one of her best during that era. I hope MC16 is as fun and varied as E=MC2. It had it all - pop, reggae, disco, RnB and ballads.

I'll be Loving U Long Time is such an amazing song. They didn't need to add T.I on the single release and video. Bye Bye was a poor 2nd single choice. It should have been all upbeat summer singles; TMB, IBLULT, Migrate and I'm That Chick should have been the singles. All fun, summer, breezy, pure-fun-Riah. All four videos could also have been a 4 part story, much like ILT and WBT followed a story, all four videos telling a story would have been epic.

E=MC2 / Bye Bye (106,871)

I wish you all would stop sniveling about E=MC2. Just kidding. But it does hurt me because I absolutely adore Bye Bye and you all treat it like it's in the same arena as Gangum [sic] Style. Mariah too. She recently said "they should've released Migrate, hello" but yet she performed Bye Bye on American Idol, Oprah and GMA. She was wit it. The lyric is relatable and her adlibs in the last section after the whistle makes everyone think they sing. I had my niece and nephew scream it to the top of their lungs and I would roll all the windows down and they would wave and sing to the cars Bye Bye. Bye bye bye bye bye bye. So from this day forth you all will let this regret about Bye Bye go. I have Right to Dream.

I remember that album garnered the largest first week sales of her career. I always thought that she had to stop promotion of the album when she originally miscarried. I could be wrong, but if that's the case, it makes sense that she had more pressing things she needed to take care of.

I have always wondered why Bye Bye, I Stay In Love, and I'll Be Lovin U Long Time all failed to have the same top 10 success as Touch My Body. I just can't pinpoint why pop radio didn't give those singles the same airplay impressions as Touch My Body. Were they weak single choices or pop radio was moving away from playing R&B songs on pop radio? There was a significant shift in pop radio from 2008-2010.

I think it was the choice to release Bye Bye as the 2nd single. After that I think she just lost momentum and they didn't play. She should have followed up with an upbeat song to keep the momentum going. Bye Bye is to similar slow beat to WBT and DFAU. I love I'm That Chick, that would have been a good follow up with a fun video. I would have loved Migrate as a single but not sure if the video would have been too hoodriah for the general public to take.

"Miraculously she will soon be able to sing again and then a new album and book will be released about her struggles and then she's laughing all the way to the bank." To be so callus about a life threatning condition with no cure that triggers when she is doing something that brings her joy, is honesty horrible. I would hope that is there is nobody in the world who, after watching her actually have a seizure and what it looks like, would ever have the momentary flash of genuine thought that she would be "laughing all the way to the bank". What a careless, heartless comment to make and you should be ashamed.

Since it's kinda quiet, on the Gucci Mane version of Obsessed, probably the original version too, there is an adlib I cannot understand and it's bothered me for years. She says "He's all up in my George Foreman." Then there's some more singing and then she repeats "He's all up in my George Foreman." And she starts "But I-' I can't for the life of me figure out what she's saying. It's before she says "You like me. You like me. You really really like me" as the song fades. The lyric sites are saying, she is saying, "But I can't do nothing for him." That is not what she's saying. Anybody have any ideas?

May Céline inspire Mariah? (106,859)
by Shezz from Pk

I agree on some points for sure. It is a business after all. Maybe she wanted to share her story with the world, maybe her label/company pressured her to. No doubt it will benefit her career somewhat, whatever the underlying motive was. The fact that she wanted cameras to capture her suffering. Hmm. Mariah would never do that for sure. All the best to Celine though, I hope she recovers fully and tours again soon.

I'm sorry I'm not ashamed to have said that, I love Celine and I never said it wasn't awful what she's been through. It's a terrible disease and I can't imagine how it's been for her. However let's be realistic, this is the entertainment industry and where's there's money to be made the industry and its stars will make money out of such things. That's not me taking away from her illness as you think I am. I'm just stating a fact. Could Celine have chosen just to get better and not even mention about her voice then just release a new album, absolutely. Or does she document her whole experience and make money off it, then release an album and make double the money, course she will. She's a business woman at the end of the day. It's heartbreaking what she has been through and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. So don't tell me I'm being callous when you don't even know me.

I hadn't heard of him before. Nice. I think MC has recorded a lot of different styles of music in the last few years from contemporary rnb to pop to dance and disco. It'll be interesting to see if she ends up with a varied album or commits to one particular style. Rumours are that Ariana has put her in touch with Max Martin and they have also recorded. I hope we get an original song this year, even if the album is released next year. It's funny how Christmas is her most popular time but also restricts her for a few months.

I believe Mariah is the kind of person who doesn't like to be a victim in her own story. She will never be vulnerable like Celine because she narrates her story and struggles in a way that is strong-headed, this is why she's not getting the sympathy of the public even after what she's been through.

I disagree, Mariah has said her voice isn't where she has liked it to have been on various projects and when she is performing live and not hit the note how she wanted she's said on numerous times, it is what it is. I think she does acknowledge the change in her voice but just on a personal level and doesn't feel the need to announce it like Celine has. Celine had lip synced for a while now too, had she not got this illness would she be doing this documentary and saying she can't sing, I very much doubt it. Whilst she has been really ill, she's capitalising on the fact and throwing in that her voice wasn't what it was, because let's face it, the programme wouldn't be as interesting if it was just about her being ill. Miraculously she will soon be able to sing again and then a new album and book will be released about her struggles and then she's laughing all the way to the bank. Sorry to sound cynical but it's easier to associate the loss of a once powerful voice to something else than just older age, if Mariah had been severely ill like Celine she too could have done a programme and said that's what attributed to her vocal decline but without that it doesn't make an interesting story.

His current #1 Urban AC song, That's You, was co-written by Bruno Mars. I believe MC has reached out to Lucky Daye because he didn't like my X collaboration post on June 29th like he did my two previous posts earlier this year and last year. She probably told him don't let anybody know we are going to collaborate. His tour starts July 11th through August 28th. I am sure they have already collaborated because of his tour and The Celebration of Mimi shows
So far, we have rumored collaborations with Solange, Anderson Paak, Bruno Mars and Max Martin.

I totally agree with Shezz when he says that Mariah is fine doing what she's doing. She's not interested in selling out stadiums anymore. She's happy with doing shows here and there throughout the year and then popping up at Christmas time to collect her coins. I don't get the hunger to master her craft like Celine has right now. Celine could have just lipped her way through entire shows like MC is doing right now but she is hungry to be the best and not ok with deceiving her audience. Celine also has always admitted that the older she gets, her voice has changed and she can't sing like she did when she was younger. MC would never admit the significant changes in her voice. It all comes down to confidence. Celine is confident and MC is not. Celine has done the work to become a dynamic performer and MC has regressed in her craft in my opinion. I'll always champion for MC but she has to get off autopilot and clock in.

Do you think R&B singer, songwriter, and producer Lucky Daye could be that one collaborator MC needs to bring MC16 closer to being finished? This man is a brilliant artist in the way he crafts his songs. His latest album, Algorithm, is a masterpiece. Take a listen to Soft, Mary, and this interview.

May Céline inspire Mariah? (106,848)

I agree. Mariah and Celine are two very very different people. Mariah is way too guarded and very insecure to let go of her armour. Celine is a performer, that is her essence. Mariah is a creator. Yes it would make her more relatable perhaps to some but she will never open herself up to the ridicule and public shaming that will come with it. I think she deals with enough already. Celine is hungry to be the people's princess. Mariah is not. She is fine doing what she's doing. She doesn't want to sell out stadiums anymore like she did in the 90s. She's happy with theaters and the exponential success she gets during Christmas in between. As far as I know, Celine never said she turned to partial lipping to deal with her issues. She just said she could not sing as well. Those are two very different things. Randy, as beautiful as it may be, I think it's too late for Mariah to learn an instrument. It's clearly never been a priority for her. People still fill up her concerts, good for her and good for the people who enjoy it. I still have high hopes for MC16. I don't think she will suddenly change her style and start making Barbera [sic] Streisand like music. She will make the music that she enjoys. I hope it's something we will all love.
