Wouldn't it be nice if the music MC and AP have created is reminisce of When I Feel It, Sprung, Bliss, Honey, and Caution? I have been trying to come up with one name for their relationship. MarBrando has a good ring to it. Brandon is his real name. Anyway, I hope he is MC's next husband. He is everything that MC needs right now in a potential partner.

Why is it that people can't enjoy steamy, hot, Lionel Richie sex without being tied down to a relationship? Maybe he and Mariah are just exercising their birthright, you know, cardio with benefits.

No, it's not "Music Box". My favourite is "Daydream". Followed by "Emotions", "Music Box" and "Butterfly". But the others depends on the actual mood. To answer the other question: It's just a feeling. I think just because they are flirting, that doesn't mean he's her new partner. But we'll see. Maybe it's more than a flirt, I just wish her a real, true man. I wonder what really happened with Bryan Tanaka. He still looks a bit sad on new pics.

Happy New Year (107,910)

I'm a little late, but happy New Year everybody. I hope for some Mariah Carey at Madison Square Garden this autumn (if there is going to be a Daydream anniversary). Both on CD and streaming. I'm going to be on strict diet for the next 6 weeks (after eating chocolate for through December). I think I will play One Sweet Day until the middle of February (and my diet is done). Enjoy 2025.

Oh wow, I can't believe I made the list. Robert Anthony - we don't call your glue for nothing. Happy New Year fam. Things Mariah related I'm looking forward to this year:
1. MC16 ( I believe it will be worth the wait) 2. Daydream30 with the MB30 treatment. Also, crazy thought but maybe the perfect time to release Someone's Ugly Daughter. Recorded together, so both 30 years old. Maybe a double album. 3. AIWFC recapturing the BB Hot 100 longest running n1 crown for Mariah by Christmas 2025.

Who says it didn't do well? It was number one for four weeks - its longest run at the top since 2022, leaving the second place way behind. Plus, it earned more points this holiday week than Brenda did last year or even Mariah herself in previous years with this song. It's not losing popularity, it's gaining popularity along with other Christmas songs. It just doesn't make sense to me how AIWFCIY could top all digital platforms except Spotify. It's the only thing that it's not adding up.

Since "AIWFCIY" didn't perform as well last year, I didn't expect it to do much better this year. There are some strong contenders this season though. Ariana's "Santa Tell Me" cracked the top 5, and Kelly's "Underneath the Tree" entered the top 10. Both songs have been steadily rising in popularity, following a similar trajectory to Mariah's "AIWFCIY".

Remastering Daydream (107,898)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
Yeah I am well aware of the concept of the loud wars, and how it might be perceived as unnecessary for some records or distorting and "changing the feel" for others, but if done right, could really enhance the sound like with Rainbow's anniversary last year. Just an observation actually. It always puzzled me how "dim" so to speak "Daydream" sounds in comparison to "Butterfly" just 2 years later, although it also sits in a transitional era from analog to digital recordings which would explain that. ABMB, OSD and Fantasy on the "#1 to Infinity" record are remastered and I think and they sound great. Now the whole album remastered for Daydream 30th with full colored artwork and unreleased tracks would be epic and a satisfying collector's item. Idea.

Remastering Daydream (107,890)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
What you're hearing is an example of the loudness wars: essentially mastering engineers compress recordings to make them sound louder to compete with other poorly mastered (loud) records. This trend became mainstream thanks to Oasis and how their records sounded so much louder on the radio, and due to their popularity, everyone else started doing it. Daydream is an excellently recorded and mastered album, boasting a dynamic range of 13 which is one of the highest in her catalogue. It'd be a shame to lose all those beautifully subdued and quiet moments of the record against the crescendos and climaxes. But that's the way things seem to be going. Personally the CD sounds superb and doesn't need updating in my view. But who am I?

Daydream (107,894)

If remastering Daydream just means cranking up the volume on every track, I think they should leave it alone. For the past couple of decades, remastering hasn't really added much to '90s recordings. Most of the time, it just makes the albums louder without actually improving the sound. To me, remastering only makes sense if it really enhances the audio, fixing any distortions and bringing out details that couldn't be captured digitally with the technology available back then.
In my humble opinion, the lossless digital version of Daydream sounds perfect as it is, so there's no need to mess with it. For Daydream 30, I'd rather see them release some of the tracks that didn't make it onto the album. Based on the B-sides from that era and "One Night" from The Rarities, any unreleased songs from that time would be more than welcome.

Could this be reason why Never Forgot You sounds so much louder on the maxi cd single than the album version? I have always noticed that listening to the two versions.

Remastering Daydream (107,890)

Same. I am trying to hold my expectations in check for Daydream's 30th anniversary. It's hard, though. I get so excited at the thought of what MC may be hiding in the vault.

Thank you gents, yes all is well with me thanks. Wishing you all the best for the year ahead. If there's no new music from Mariah in 2025, here's hoping Daydream gets an anniversary release with my beautiful London tour date added as a bonus audio CD. I would probably die of happiness. It's still one of the best days of my life, always will be.
